According to the University Health Services, or UHS, website, the $70 charge that is applied to symptomatic testing conducted through UHS at the Tang Center will either be reimbursed in full by health insurance or covered by the Student Health Insurance Plan.
UC Berkeley students took to Twitter on Tuesday to express frustration with the $70 charge that has been implemented for symptomatic COVID-19 testing through campus’ University Health Services, or UHS.
As opposed to the surveillance testing required of all students residing in campus dormitories, symptomatic testing at the Tang Center is reserved for those who have come in close contact with a positive COVID-19 case or who have exhibited symptoms, said Tami Cate, UHS spokesperson, in an email.
