The shooting happened around 2 p.m., said Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell. A dark-colored car in a ditch with its rear window shot out was still at the scene Thursday afternoon. Campbell said the victims, both 17, occupied the vehicle. Campbell said deputies gave first aid to the victims until emergency services arrived. Both teens were transported to HSHS St. John's Hospital. A 16-year-old suspect was found behind a nearby house and taken into custody, Campbell said. The sheriff's office has taken over the investigation at the request of Grandview Police. An investigation is ongoing. The shooting was the second in the county this week.
