Acting upon a tip-off, Istanbul's anti-smuggling units raided three addresses in the Kadikoy district on the Asian side of the city and the Fatih district on the European part. The units determined the locations and the suspects after technical and physical follow-up that lasted about a month. Those targeted in operations have been allegedly collecting ancient pieces to sell them abroad, according to Ihlas. The seized artifacts reportedly included 13 glass-form objects, 128 silver coins, 100 objects in various forms and shapes, seals, candlesticks, and calligraphy plates belonging to the Ottoman era, and a Quran manuscript.
