This is today live from studio 1a in Rockefeller Plaza. Welcome to today. Im erica hill. Im jeff rossen alongside Sheinelle Jones and dylan dreyer. To me, there are two people in the world. Not happening. Not happening. By the way, not sharing. Do you know me . The powerball machine live here in studio. Do you love this thing . The actual balls that bounce around. Reporter look at the lines crossing the border in canada. I have people who are messaging me to go across the border. Reporter powerball fever in full swing. A big vacation and not work anymore, for sure. Reporter for many. It is hard to grasp how much 800 million. If you laid one dollar bills in a straight line, it would circle the earth more than eight times. You will probably only get about 496 million in a lump sum. Still enough to pay for six private islands or more than 100 lamborghinis. Feeling more philanthropy . You could feed more than 100 million families for a year. You still could not afford an nfl team. The powerball people are keeping it secure. The drawing is held in florida tonight and all of the equipment is for now in a double locked takes a minimum of three people to get inside. The odds of winning are astronomical. 1 in 292, 201, 338. So youre telling me theres a chance . Yeah reporter but 1 in 292 million. One person has to win. Why cant it be me . Reporter a sentiment now shared by millions. Heres the winner. Reporter all right. Depending on how sales go today, that number could go up. Heres the good news. Lottery Officials Say with all of the people playing, about 65 of the possible number combinations will be covered. There is a better than not chance that somebody will win. If nobody wins tonight, guys, it will go up over 1 billion. Thats just tough to wrap your head around. Kristen, good luck. Are you able to buy a ticket yourself . Are you allowed to play . No, no, i cant play. Sam, what do you think the chances this could go up to 1 billion . I dont know. It just depends on how many people are playing and who gets that winning combination. Its impossible to predict. You know, if no one wins tonight, it certainly will be we watch this. We are excited about it. As jeff mentioned you are in a non descript building. What is it like when you are pulling the numbers . Well, you know, usually not too many people there when the jackpot happens. Tonight, we will have a lot of people in the studio so the pressure goes up. I get a little more nervous. Generally, its a few of us. The crew, me, the Security Team and occasionally we have people come in and view from the viewing room. Its business as usual. All right, sam, feels like a black tie affair tonight. We will look for the tux. I will see you in the offices down there when i come to claim my ticket. Good luck. Thank you. Law enforcement say the fbi is looking into his phone and computer records and at trips to saudi arabia in 2011 and egypt in 2012. Theres nothing to suggest that travel was terror related. Give us a sense what investigators are looking at based on what steve laid out for us. We hear he was isis inspired. He said he did this in support of theslamic state. Investigators absolutely want to see if there is any riptide to isis. The fact he traveled to saudi arabia and egypt is a red flag. It is not a smoking gun. It is an area the Law Enforcement will work with the agencies in both countries to see why he was there and who he met with, et cetera. The residence. They will be looking at the Electronic Devices and looking to exploit the Digital Media to see who he contacted. They want to see if there was a the efforts of one particular individual. Isis as we know in terms of pop propaganda is standing out. Are they particularly going after vulnerable people. The picture painted of the man suggests he may have been vulnerable. Isis is talking about targetetg Police Officers and military for a long time. They are seeing Law Enforcement as instruments of the government. From the terrorists per specspective perspective, it is important to strikeout against the government. They are seen as protectors of the innocent. That is the inspiration between isis and the attacks. Law enforcement has been targeted for a long time by a lot of agencies over many years. They are absolutely aware of this rhetoric. They aware of isis objectives. Strongly coming together, state, local, federal agencies to make sure they have enough intelligence to protect officers citizens. Shawn henry, appreciate it. Thank you. Who cruz says has been lying about the attacks in benghazi, americans when she was secretary of state.
