president. you may remember the new jersey governor hurled verbal jams at trump while on the campaign trail. now christie says there is no one better prepared to lead the country. christie suspended his campaign after he didn't perform well in the new hampshire primary. carol: that endorsement comes a day after a heated gop debate , where many of the attacks were aimed at trump. marco rubio led yesterday's attacks. today he held a rally in dallas, texas. there the florida senator did not hold back. he unleashed a verbal assault runner. rubio blasted trump, calling him "a con artist with a spotty business record who inherited his wealth." michael: also going after trump, ted cruz. today he was in nashville, tennessee. during a town hall, cruz fielded questions on a variety of topics including immigration. , but the central theme was trump. cruz said yesterday's debate gave voters a chance to see the differences between himself and donald trump. carol: also in tennessee was john kasich. he was in memphis. kasich held a town hall at the holiday inn. his campaign announced that former new jersey governor christine whitman will be backing the ohio governor. michael: talking about super tuesday ben carson was in , houston, texas today. that is according to his campaign website. there he spoke about medical innovation. then took questions at the tmc innovative institute. carson wrapped up his day with a visit to irving. there he held a town hall meeting. carol: all of this comes ahead of super tuesday. 12 states, including georgia, and one territory will hold primaries and caucuses in the race for the democratic and republican nomination. here is the list of the states republican primaries are held on the same day. they are alabama, arkansas, colorado, georgia, massachusetts, minnesota, oklahoma, tennessee, texas, vermont and virginia. republicans only -- alaska, north dakota and wyoming caucuses. democrats only -- american samoa caucus. nearly 600 carol: to the lowcountry now. a deputy is recovering after she was shot on the job. corporal kimber gist is from woodruff. it all began in goose creek last night. that's in berkeley county. gist was on patrol and tried to stop a suspicious vehicle. officials say that's when she got into a scuffle with the the suspect was later involved in a standoff with police in north charleston. he was found later dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. meanwhile, deputies say gist is doing well and is in good spirits after surgery. michael: back to greenville county, where the family attorney of a robbery victim killed by deputies has plenty to say. attorney fletcher smith is accusing deputies of excessive force and not following protocol. it steams from the death of charles rosemond on december 10. rosemond shot deputy dave dempsey in the head when they tried to enter his home. deputies feared that someone inside might have been hurt after responding to calls of a robbery. the attorney claims deputies did not identify themselves before entering. >> the family is happy that officer dempsey survived and they're happy that he's recovering. but their sense of loss is that they have a loved one that can't michael: the attorney for the sheriff's office says their official answer will deny claims that deputies did not identify themselves. carol: new details on yesterday's deadly shooting rampage in kansas. police have identified the man allegedly behind the attack. three people were killed. 14 were hurt. officials say the shooting happened at a business called excel industries. that's a plant that makes lawn mower parts. it is just north of wichita. the gunman has been identified as 38-year-old cedric ford. police say he was served a protection from abuse order yesterday afternoon. that happened just before he went into the business and opened fire. police say the first officer on scene took down the shooter single-handedly. michael: eight years before the 9/11 attacks, the world trade center was the target of a different terrorist attack. 23 years ago today, a bomb went off inside a truck. it was parked in a garage beneath the world trade center. six people were killed that day. more than 1,000 injured. today hundreds gathered around the 9/11 memorial to commemorate six suspects were convicted for their role in the bombing. a seventh was never caught. carol: parents, you need to hear this. evenflo is recalling more than 56,000 combination booster seats. officials say children may access the seat's harness adjuster button and loosen the harness themselves. they say this would increase the risk of injury in a crash. the recall involves evenflo's transitions 3-in-1 combination booster seats. they were manufactured before january 29. no injuries have been reported. michael: here is a medical breakthrough. doctors have performed the first uterus transplant in the u.s. the cleveland clinic says the 9-hour surgery was performed on a 26-year-old woman. doctors used a uterus from a deceased organ donor. the recipient was reported in stable condition thursday. it's expected to take a year for the uterus to heal. after that, the uterus will be implanted with the patient's pre-frozen eggs with the expectation of pregnancy. any babies born will be delivered by c-section. after carrying one or two , hysterectomy to remove the transplanted uterus. carol: to the latest in the zika outbreak. nine pregnant women in the u.s. have now been infected with the virus. that number is only expected to rise. that is according to the centers for disease control and prevention. 10 other cases are suspected. 2 of those pregnancies ended in miscarriage. 2 were aborted. one baby was born with severe brain abnormalities. the others are
