with the thousands of people decending on downtown this weekend you may need to be on the lookout when it comes to jaywalking. after the video went viral of a cincinnati man being arrested the question is do you know what jaywalking is. fox 19's michael baldwin is live with those answers. well frankie we just got the numbers in from the police department and over the last two years . we can tell you the youngest person given a ticket was 12 and the oldest is 77. and the numbers also show where you are most likely to get a ticket. it's the video that's gone viral and people are still talking about it. charles harrell recording himself just before officers would cite him for among other things jaywalking. we wanted to know how many people have actually gotten tickets for this. but first, video. people tell us they are less likely now to jaywalk. even kids are telling their parents to use the crosswalk because it could cost you money as it did tommy wager who was hit by a car while jaywalking i acutally ended up getting sued for thousands of dollars over the emotional damage to the driver cause she couldn't get in the car and drive nornally without having an anxiety attack cincicnnati police sent us some numbers. and over the past two years they have written 710 pedrestrian citations. 43 of the violators were under 18 with the youngest being 12. 12th street had the most citations with 91 while vine came in second with 83. but not everyone agrees with the tickets i'd say there are more important things that out police officers should be focused on then try to cite someone for walking accros the street so here's how it works. a laweyer tells fox 19 now that cincinnati's code does not require the light to say walk or don't walk at the cross walk. it mainly tells people you can't have a car stop abrubly or to cross the street. but its simple if you don't want to fight a ticket play it safe. wait for the sign to have the walking sign on it cicinnati played a role in jaywalking laws. in 1923, cincinnatians were upset about the number of pedestrian deaths so people signed a petition to limit car speeds to 25mph. as a result of this, the auto industry lobbied to change the laws giving the right-of-way to cars. interesting fact you can tell your friends. michael baldwin fox 19 now. right now cincinnati fire investigators are trying to figure out what sparked flames at a home on state street in lower price hill about an hour ago. in the end, 12 people were displaced and 2 dogs were rescued... and fortunately no one was injured. those displaced are now being helped by the red cross. also in dearborn county.... two men are behind bars tonight after a major burglary southeast indiana. today the prosecutor announced that 30- year old corey heidorn and 34-year old dustin lee williams were both arrested in connection to 3 burglaries in the county. investigators say the two robbed people of jewlery, coins, electronics and a large number of guns! both are due in court later this month. meanwhile, we're learning more about an even bigger burglary ring bust that lead to 6 different officers being honored for their actions! fox19 now's mike schell joins us live from indian hill. and mike you spoke with one of those officers earlier tonight right? that's right... and right now we are learning more about the take down that happened back in january.. indian hill was one of the prime targets for these thieves who reportedly came up from florida to steal from affluent neighborhoods.. 4mike "you talking 20, let's see 19 and 20-year-old kids that have been doing burlaries for three or captain mike dressell with the indian hill rangers says the robbers would knock on a door and ask for directions. 2mike "if nobody answers, all four, its usually four guys in a car, the other three jump out, they go around the back, break out edit the glass in the door, a window, go in, jewelry, laptops, cash." a total take of 50- thousand dollars in indian hill alone...one of the suspects even taunted his sucess on his facebook page.. three streets were targeted in this neighborhood...and authorities say the thieves hit three homes on one street alone and if the robbers saw an alarm when they broke into the house??
