phone with the coroner who says its a complicated investigation...and the sheriff's office should have a statement in the next couple of hours as we get more information.. we'll have it for you on air.. on the fox19 now news app.. and fox19now.com. tricia hplaz the university of cincinnati is without two leaders of the school's police force tonight. now ex-chief jason goodrich has resigned... along with major tim thornton. walk to bam r it all comes amidst a 'top to bottom' review of the department, coming after sam dubose was shot to death a traffic stop last year. let's get right to ben katko live on campus... ben remote on campus tonight... things are different inside this department... campus safety leaders tell me the company reviewing the department pointed out some quote "management oversights." now... the school is searching nationwide for a new leader. the atmosphere on the u-c campus is a litlte different tonight. andrew naab "it wasn't something that we were expecting." andrew naab is student body he got word early that former police goodrich... and major tim now out. andrew naab "considering the shooting of samuel dubose last july, i think that the chief was put in a very difficult position." ex-uc police officer ray tensing is facing murder charges in dubose's death. this is video captured from tensing's body cam the day dubose was shot after an off- campus traffic stop. since ordered a full review of the department's policies and procedures by a company known as "exiger." "they've looked at a lot agency documentation, et cetera, and they pointed out some gaps and some management to be addressed." whalen is now the interim chief. he says exiger made their observations only about half-way through their review... that started february 1st. whalen reporter: "did they resign at will, or was it something all parites involved that this was the best case scenario?" whalen: "they made the decision to resign." but to some... the resignations are met with more questions... and lingering skepticism. black lives matter has rallied and marched in dubose's name. brian taylor/black lives matter "people are fired in order to change the image of something all the time, but the changing of the image doesn't necessarily mean the changing of the infrastructure." goodrich had been with the department since october 2014. whalen will be interim chief... as a search begins for a replacement. whalen "it is our goal to move this agency forward and be a much better community partner." ben remote to be done in june. tensing's trial is set for this fall. last month... u-c settled with the dubose family for more than $5 million. live at u-c... ben katko... fox19 now. developing now... 3 people are hurt after a fryer catches on fire in erlanger. it happened at st. barbara church during a fish fry. we're told a propane tank caught fire on one of the fryer's outside. the people who were burned were transported to the hospital. right now, we don't know the severity of their injuries. now to a story fox19 now broke first... you saw it here wednesday.. when police arrested 34-year old brandon carr in connection with the murder of 29- year old brittany russell. russell was found shot to death in her car.. in dayton february 10th.. with her infant daughter in the back seat. but the montgomery county prosecutor's office says murder charges have yet to be need to investigate further. carr remains in custody for unrelated charges . the driver in a fatal, head-on, wrong-way crash has now been indicted. we were there.. when 22-year old taryn chin had her first court appearance... after she was arrested for driving the wrong way on i-71 while under the influence last wednesday. police say that's when she crashed head-on into another car, killing the driver. 47-year old jose ah-wren-us arenas. chin has been indicted on two counts of aggravated court on monday. get your hands up! get screams shoot mother shoot me! stop! stop right there! i don't wanna shoot you man." you are looking at footage from last richmond police officers charged will killing his girlfriend in felicity... and a friend in elsmere. wilcox pleaded guilty today in kenton county for the murder of his friend 27-year old zachary gilkison. wilcox was already spending life in prison for the murder of his girlfriend. tricia roof cam let's take a live look out east at the city... the roller coaster weather ride just began.. steve let's start with tonight... hey kids starting northgate mall anymore. if it's on the weekends you'll have to be with an adult. fox 19's michael baldwin is live outside the mall... and michael this starts on march 4th correct? steve.. steve cam 4 five people are standoff in washington state. at least 3 of the victims are reportedly family members of the alleged gunman. police say a man shot and killed 4 people inside a home...before taking his own life in front of authorities. swat teams 'were' able to go in and rescue a teen girl...who has non life threatening injuries. tricia hplaz ots we now know the suspect accused of kansas...had a restraining order against him. police say cedric ford was ordered to stay away from his girlfriend, hours before he opened fire, killing 3 and injuring 14 more. witnesses say ford was armed with an assault rifle when he started shooting at his workplace. but heroic efforts from police.. limited the damage. "law enforcement here in hesston that responded right away. and even though he took fire, he went inside of that place and saved multiple, multiple lives. a hero as far as i'm concerned." police say ford got the guns from his ex-girlfriend. she faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the crime.
