A mother accused of murdering her son will go on trial this september. This is the first time were seeing video of tonya slaton since state troopers say she left the body of her son, quincy davis, in the trunk of her vehicle last year. Slaton heard her charges in Hampton Court yesterday. Investigators indicted her earlier this month. A Newport News Police officer faces charges and is on administrative leave this morning. Laila underwood is charged with felony destruction of property and misdemeanor assault on a family member. It fined a second councilman more than 1thousand dollars, claiming he broke a controversial ordinance. Danny meeks says he got the notice this week because of an article in the virginianpilot. In it, he discusses Garbage Disposal plans. Mayor kenny wright says that was discussed in a closed session, meaning meeks should not have said anything to the media. Norfolk, va. wavy a fire in the ocean view section of norfolk early friday morning left one woman dead and four others injured. According to battalion chief william tull, fire 1800 block of kingston avenue around 2 a. M. For reports of a fire at a duplex. When fire crews arrived on the scene, they found a twostory duplex with heavy fire coming from the front of the building. People on the scene told firefighters an elderly woman was trapped on the second floor of the duplex. Firefighters entered the duplex and found the woman in an upstairs bedroom. Crews got the woman out by carrying her through a second story window but she was badly burned and died from her injuries. A woman and two children who lived on the second floor also escaped the fire and were taken to the hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries have not been released. Two others who lived in the building, a man and a woman who live on the first floor, were able to escape the flames on their own. The woman suffered a minor burn injury but refused to go to the under control after about an hour. Fire marshals are on the scene investigating the cause of the fire.
