measures are so severe some say it takes the school system back 30 years and all the enrichment programs from band and strings into language immersion are in serious jeopardy. >> for the past five years, these fifth graders have been learning math and science in spanish. this elementary school in alexandria is one of fairfax county's 12 language immersion schools. five schools teach spanish, two french, three japanese and one german but the superintendent proposed cutting the $2 million program to meet a potential $170 million short fall. >> how many jobs don't just look for a second language as a nice to have skill but a preferred and often times now required skill? >> reporter: also on the endangered list band and strings, advanced economic programs and technology specialists.
