encourage the investigator to lobby for the votes legally instead. but then it seems he kind of gives in, even offers advice on how to pull it off. listen. the inaudible part was him focusing on getting out the vote. so you can see patrick conflicted in those statements. we reached out to him yesterday for comment. he responded via e-mail saying at no point have i or will i ever endorse any sort of illegal or unethical behavior. at no point did i take this person seriously. he was acting crazy and it struck me that he was joking. only for that reason did i humor him. in retrospect i try to give those possibilities in a few minutes. welcome back. timesaver traffic. it's 6:41 and 62 degrees. quite a few things to tell you about right now, especially if you're planning to travel in virginia. i'm going to get to that in a moment. first let me start with the good news. there are no issues to report on the beltway north side of town as you leave college park. look at that. there's no yellow, green. just green. nothing to report in terms of delays. everything is looking good as you leave college park into silver spring and bethesda. 270 a different story. let's go outside live and show what you it looks like. first of all if you're planning to head over on the northbound side of i-95 in virginia. you've got your long, slow lineup as you leave quantico toward triangle. there was an accident there that was cleared. then it's most of the way as you leave dale city into springfield here. the lanes are open. let's go a little further north on to 395. the issue here, look at that. backed up as you leave duke street past king where there's an accident in the left lane. let's go back over to our maps, this time heading over to the west side of town. no problems 066 as you head inbound. but inside the beltway here in annandale on backlick road at john mar drive, that early morning fatal accident has been cleared so you're good to go through that intersection as well. one more last live look outside. again here's what it looks like on 270. you've got your delays as you leave basically frederick off and on toward clarksburg and germantown with the lanes open. i'll be back with more traffic at 6:58. back to you guys. remember last week when this was howard's costume and he was a chick magnet? lazy halloween. basically we're afraid he might be attracting sandy and not the good sandy. >> i can't help it if that happens. >> it won't be a hurricane if it comes our way. >> but it will be a very strong, maybe extra tropical storm but still could have winds 70 miles an hour or so, gusting more than that. the wind field will expand on this as it comes in toward the northern latitude. it's going to be a big, dangerous store. it may hit the northeast or the mid-atlantic. that's the problem, we don't know where she's headed yet. it looks like she may track more west than east. for us it's early to say but we're not on the coast. we could still get heavy rain and winds that we'll be dealing with as well early next week. looking at sandy. not nearly as well defined as it was 12 hours ago as it was coming between jamaica and cuba. briefly got up to a category 3 strength. it's weakened a little bit in eastern cuba but now it's back in the open waters. i expect it to look a little angel berroa than this as it tracks to the north through -- a little bit better than this as it tracked to the north through the bahamas. moving to the north at a pretty good clip 18 miles an hour. prepare 960. the lower it goes, the stronger the storm. the higher it goes, the weaker the storm. still expecting a category 2 storm through this evening, through the central bahamas. weakening a little bit and slowly as we head in toward friday and now saturday morning. notice the jog northwest and the jog northeast. hurricane center track takes it parallel to the coast and back off toward the north. well, this is not good news for the northeast and mid-atlantic because the cone now of uncertainty by tuesday morning getting on the mid-atlantic coast, the jersey coast, the long island coast. what's got me concerned for us are the models that i look at. there's a bunch of models. who's to say if one is better than the other. i like the european ones i'm not even showing you. look at this model. it comes in toward ocean city and toward garrett county. this is the canadian model comes toward montauk point. when you have models starting to turn to the coast, it gets me nervous on where the storm may ultimately end up. this afternoon we're looking at low 70s at 4:00 p.m. with 34eud 60s at -- mid-60s at 8:00. the high today about 73. not as warm as yesterday. we've got low 50s in the then goa dough ya valley this morning. -- shenandoah valley this morning. we're in the low 50s. easton, cloudy and 61 degrees. you can see on our michael & son weather camera the low clouds that have moved in although we're not seeing much in the way of reduced visibilities at the surface. just the low clouds. 62. east wind at 7. humidity 90%. so we'll watch the clouds. they're going to be with us on and off throughout the day. maybe more sun this afternoon. looks like the low clouds, drizzle and fog return tonight. then tomorrow we start with clouds and perhaps some afternoon sunshine and that will be probably the last couple of good days before things really start going downhill late in the weekend. so the forecast today 73. tonight 50s to near 60. again there could be some late drizzle or fog. tomorrow mostly cloudy, 71. on saturday a late shower as a front approaches, 68. we're going to turn colder regardless of what sandy does with a better chance of seeing the rain and wind unfortunately monday and tuesday. andrea? >>
