from 216 to the beltway and route 4 towards wilson bridge, about 9 minutes. coming up, we are going to be checking on the george washington parkway. back to you. >> thank you. we're following breaking news at this hour, a deadly hit and run in southwest washington. police say a 60 year old man was found dead in the road early this morning. his name has not been released. investigators want to find a mercedes they think hit the man. >> as we look ahead at some of the stories happening today. first responders from september 11 in new york are facing a deadline to possibly join a legal settlement. it could pay out more than $815 million, many claim to be suffering ill health effects from their work following the attacks. >> israel limit prime minister continues his visit to the united states. he's that new orleans right now, he wants the united states to threaten military action against iran if it doesn't drop its nuclear program. >> leave collection begins today in the district, 200 city workers will be vacuuming up at the curb sides. it's the most labor intensive program of the year. also tomorrow more fall out in the case of a man beaten to death outside a night club. >> here is the latest on the dc 9 case, good morning. >> good morning. ed to was actually supposed to be the start of the pretrial hearing in this case. but now this whole area outside the u.s. attorney's office will likely be the scene of a very heated protest later this morning. it is all because of what happened here on friday and that is when u.s. attorney ronald macon dropped all charges against the nice club's co-owner and four of his employees. why did he do it? well, according to the dismissal document filed in court, it's because, quote, based upon all the evidence we have thus far gathered, there is insufficient basis to sustain the charges. the five men were initially charged of chasing down and beating to death 27 year old after he threw a brick through the night club's window. the charges were reduced becausedc's medical examiner wasn't able to determine the cause of death. here's what william's attorney had to say about this. >> neither mr. spieler men charged punched, kicked or stomped mr. mohammed. his death was tragic but it was equally tragic to falsely assign blame. >> reporter: the big question right now isn't even who killed mr. mohammed, the big question is how did he die? university, and as you can expect the longer they keep all these lanes closed, only the bigger this is going to grow. moving it over to another big tie up on the south east southwest freeway, past maine avenue, drivers losing a couple left lanes, slow up towards the scene. and on 395 it looks like you are relatively slow up towards the freeway. 95 heading northbound we move it outside in quarterback at this co, more crash activity, slow go stretch to route 1 and we're also below speed between newington making their way up towards that mixing bowl. on the inner loop, 395 to the toll the top of the hour, president obama is scheduled to address india's, just before midnight the obamas met with the president. hours later this meet with the prime minister. the obamas will leave for indonesia after that. the president sat down for an interview with 60 minutes. the president said he wished his health care reform push went better. he said it cost him and democrats more politically than he thought it would. >> i couldn't get the kind of cooperation from republicans that i had hoped for. we thought that if we shaped a bill that wasn't that different from bills that had previously been introduced by republicans, including a republican governor in massachusetts who is now running for president, that we would be able to find some common ground there, and we just couldn't. >> might not get any easier. eric cantor says voters reacted to that last tuesday. >> they're looking at him to try and come to the middle and set aside this extreme agenda he's been about that his killed jobs and created uncertainty. >> cantor is expected to become the house majority leader. that post is currently held by maryland democrat steny hoyer. >> we're expecting sharp reaction today to a decision, where the charges were dropped. >> that's right. good morning. later this morning, family and friends of mohammad are expected to prosecutors test because those charges were indeed dropped last friday. that's what these protests are all about. now, according to a statement released by the u.s. attorney, ronald maco n, he says he dropped the charges because, quote, based upon all the only delay justice for ali mohammad. they also say they deserve to know the truth about how he died. so that's where they're coming from but the u.s. attorney's office says this case is by no means closed. they are going to continue to investigate. they are simply waiting for more information in this case. specifically waiting on the cause of death which should be coming from the dc medical examiner's office. back to you. >> thanks. right now dc police are looking for a driver involved in a fatal hit and run. they think the car involved is a mercedes with some sort of front end damage. police believe this car hit a 60-year-old man this morning along south capitol street. that man ended up dying from the collision. his name is not being released at this point. a system wide inspection of metro's escalators is underway. 6 people were hurt october 30 when the escalators failed. those escalators had just gone through a maintenance inspection two months ago. right now they're out of service, faulty brake problems were discovered at gallery place china town station. it's expected to take a week for all to be inspected so be prepared. the national park service is asking for your input. they're trying to improve the visitor screening facility at the base of the washington monument so a public meeting is scheduled 5:30 to 7:30 tonight at the headquarters which is ohio drive southwest. officials want to replace the temporary screening facility and improve the over all security at the monument. however, they want to preserve the landscaping and visitor money coming in every month. the latest job numbers show the average weekly wage improved by the biggest percentage in october than any time since the start of the great recession. paychecks were up 3 and a half% compared to a year ago, the reason why, we're working longer hours. everyone hours were up. now, this is good news, commissions say a good sign for the future since employers are more likely to ramp up the hours of part-time workers before they start hiring new employees. many flyers will pay more, sometimes half as much more for airline tickets, on zoom routes fairs are up 50% for travel before thanksgiving. up to 40% higher before christmas. our partners at usa today report on the reason why consumers who stopped flying are taking to the air again and airlines have reduced the number of seats available in order to cut costs. american families are planning to scale back thanksgiving celebrations because of the economy. according to a new survey, 40% of families will change
