in the houston area and went to the gravesite, had a service this morning there. >> reporter: some of her friends brought flowers, too. >> i want them to see people loved who she was. loved who she was. >> reporter: the small gathering was meant to remember and honor the young woman. >> it was very lively. everybody in there was full of life. >> reporter: coworker britney norwood was convicted of murdering jane na and trying to cover-up the fact by claiming the pair had been sexually assaulted by two masked men who broke into the store. >> all of the events of that night are so etched in our minds you start to re-live all of those moments. yet that is important. with pain comes release. >> reporter: even though today marks the one year anniversary of the murder, the folks who placed the flowers and balloons hearsay they did it to celebrate her life. they are inviting anyone who wants to do the same to join the celebration. britney norwood is now serving a life sentence for the murder. he denied communion to a woman at her mother's funeral because she is a lesbian. now a local priest is on administrative leave. in a statement sunday the washington archdiocese says father marquel gorm has been relieved of his duties until an investigation in this case. she was denied communion at the funeral of her mom. johnson's family issued a statement saying they hope the church's actions will ensure that others will not suffer the same treatment. japan marked the one year anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami. cbs's monica aczar has more. >> reporter: in somber ceremonies people remembered the devastation they witnessed one year ago. this country survived a disaster that killed nearly 20,000 people. he says it is a symbolic place. mourners nationwide observed a moment of silence at the exact moment the earthquake hit the country. and when the tsunami hit it unleashed a wall of water that washed away whole neighborhoods. some victims are reliving the pain a year later. the tsunami was so big it dragged this massive ship into the middle of the city. it has been a year and people here haven't decided if they want the ship turned into a memorial or they want it
