this -- this is who i sleep and this is who i see when i sleep. this is who i hear when i wake up. >> reporter: no one hoping for a discovery more than rudd's family. her grandmother came to watch the search in person. >> and whoever is home where i can see her smile or talk or whether -- and there, i have to help my daughter make those type of arrangements. i need my clothes and i want my baby home. >> reporter: for now, police are no longer blocking the area, so we were able to come back and they did bring a forensics team. the only thing they took from the area here. stephanie ramirez, wusa 9news. and police were not involved with the search before the bag was found and this is a complete volunteer effort. and in dallas, texas, a man suspected of firing shots into a police station, ramming a police cruiser and engaging in a shootout with officers, that man is dead. the police confirmed he was shot dead by a police sniper after leading officers on the chase from outside headquarters into a nearby neighborhood. the officers are trying to confirm his identity, but they say he hold theem --el to him his name was james bulware and had a gripe with police. meantime, despite several reported fightings, the search continues for two convicted murderers who escaped from a maximum security prison in upstate new york a week ago. and officers went door-to-door near the prison searching for sweat and matt. the prison employee joyce mitchell provided the men with hacksaw blades and other tools to make the mistake. mitchell pleaded not guilty to felony charges of ropride -- providing contraband and helping the inmate escape. and thousands turned out to hear hillary clinton officially launching her presidential cam link her presidential campaign. bill and their daughter were in the crowd and she talked about the need for fairness in the u.s. tax system. she said the job of president is a tough one, and that she's up to the challenge. coming up, a playground dedication for a local woman who was shot to death why am i so awake?
