case. >> we were called to the home, that something was going on at the residence and that officers should come out. >> reporter: officers found two murdered women inside. detectives spent the afternoon collecting evidence. >> my detectives are actively investigating this incident and they do believe it is domestic related, a targeted incident and that the public should not have anything to fear. >> reporter: in terms of who the suspect or suspects is or are, no information confirmed by authority or anyone in authority. armando truele, wusa 9. police also need your help in solving the slaying of a man in lanham, maryland overnight. it happened just after 11:00 last night in the 8600 block of green belt road. when prince george's county police responded, they found the body of 26-year-old shane francis smyth in a parking lot, had been shot several times. no word on a motive or suspect at this point. police don't believe this shooting was random. two people are under arrest after a chase and crash on eastbound i-66. virginia state troopers pulled over the driver of a dodge charger who was wanted by police shortly after 3:00 this afternoon. while a trooper was taking the driver into custody, a male passenger in that charger hopped in the driver's seat and sped off. state police gave chase until the driver lost control of the car and crashed into other vehicles near gliebe road. the driver is also in custody tonight. two other people suffered nonlife threatening injuries. only the left lane is getting by the scene right now. we're under a yellow alert for the chance of showers or storms tonight and into tomorrow morning. meteorologist olga breeze is in for erica tonight. >> yes, we're definitely tracking moisture off toward our west. it is pressing in toward us. notice all the lightning strikes we're seeing here showing up on doppler 9000 radar. for the meantime, the short- term, we are calm and clear right here in the immediate metro area. we're starting to see a little bit of that moisture coming in from the southwest. overall tonight, definitely going to be a cloudy night. in fact, temperatures are near 80 degrees right now. our humidity is on the rise and we will continue to see the opportunity for showers and thunderstorms as we head into the early sunday morning hours. right now, temperatures have backed down a bit. in fact, we were held to below average highs for today and with the cloud cover around and this wind flow, i think we'll stay below average at least for for your monday and tuesday forecast. bruce? >> olga, thanks. first patient with ebola to be treated in the u.s. is now in a hospital in atlanta. we have the story from atlanta. >> repo in a full white containment suit carefully stepped out of the back of an ambulance saturday afternoon. another person also dressed in protective clothing led the patient into emery university hospital in atlanta. the patient is american dr. kent brantly, who was infected with the ebola virus while working with patients in liberia. he'll receive treatment at the hospital. >> we are ready, looking forward to trying to help this patient and assist his family in any way possible. >> reporter: dr. brantley was flown from west africa to the united states in a private medical jet. after landing at daubins air force base, he was loaded into an ambulance, accompanied by several vehicles and a police escort on the 15-mile ride to the hospital. the procedure will be repeated in the next couple days as a second ebola patient, american aid worker nancy writebol is transported from africa to atlanta. this marks the first time anyone with an incurable disease is brought to the united states. emery is equipped with a special unit to make spread. >> i have no specific concern for my safety or colleagues. >> reporter: a statement was released saying, it was a relief to welcome kent home today. i spoke with him and he is glad to be back in the u.s. she also thanked god for giving him the strength to walk into the hospital. cbs news, atlanta. >> ebola has a mortality rate of up to 90%. though the rate of this current epidemic is about 60%, more than 700 people in western africa have died thus far. israel's prime minister says hamas militants will pay, quote, an intolerable price if they continue to attack its country. prime minister netanyahu reiterated they will not back down as long as hamas continued to fire rockets into its country. those comments come a day after the latest humanitarian cease- fire collapsed. two israeli soldiers were killed, another abductedded in an ambush attack. at least 100 palestinians, most civilians, were killed, as shelling continued in gaza city on saturday. back here in washington, tensions were high as supporters on both sides of the war in gaza rallied today in front of the white house. stephanie ramirez was there. >> reporter: protesters hoisted what they called coffins wrapped with palestinian flags, the conflict in gaza, tensions and frustrations almost knocking on the white house's front doors today, as hundreds descended on pennsylvania avenue calling for an end to the violence. >> seeing the kids on tv and the people and the mothers and the people dying. nobody's saying anything. >> you don't see it here. once my eyes were open to that, i, i couldn't in good intention not come. >> reporter: they came by the bus loads, calling for an end to violence and an end to the u.s. support of israel as the death toll continues >> they are killing our sisters and brothers, wives our kids. there's nobody left for us! >> free, free palestine! >> reporter: one thing not anticipated is how many people would actually show up today. tensions rising between palestine supporters and a handful of israel supporters. police installed barricades to calm the crowd. in another situation, this man claimed to have been kicked by pro palestine supporters. one of those protesters described what happened leading up to this. >> we were having a very civil conversation, in a very, in a very heated atmosphere. >> reporter: the two trying to hash out their different views through a dialogue. >> i do not support the killing of children in gaza, but the people have a right to defend themselves. >> reporter: they want the white house to hear their call and take a strong stance before more are killed. stephanie ramirez, wusa 9news at the white house. palestinian health officials say more than 1650 palestinians, mostly civilians have been killed. israel has lost 9w63 soldiers and three civilians since the fighting began on july 8th. just a day after the house of r bill addressing the current u.s. border crisis, scores of protesters gathered in front of the white house today to call for stronger and more expansive immigration reform. demonstrators say president obama has so far not kept his rooms to enact immigration reform that addresses the needs of undocumented immigrants. >> not one more death at the border. not one more mom being separatedded from her kids. it's really, it's -- it's about immigration system in this country and the criminalization of our community, but also about the dignity and the humanity that our people deserve. >> if you're going to talk about trade deals on our diamonds, on our oil, on our timber, our cotton, we need to know what are you going to do to make sure that the africans who are here have the papers, that way we can contribute in the united states and also send money back home. >> now, the legislation passed by the house yesterday would expedite deportation of unoccupied children who cross the u.s. border, but would also end an obama administration policy of allowing undocumented immigrant children who have lived in the u.s. since 2007 to stay in the country. president obama has vowedded to veto the house bill if it passes the senate. tens of thousands of fans braved threatening weather to make the trek to redskins training camp in richmond, virginia this morning. it was the annual fan appreciation day and our dave owens was there. ♪ >> reporter: ah, here they come! mother nature upstaged burgandy and gold [ perdue ] they say you are what you eat. well, say you are what you eat...eats. so we feed our chickens an all-veggie diet including corn and marigolds with no added animal by-products... hormones...or steroids. because at perdue we believe in a better chicken. . yellow alert, but nothing to be afraid of, right? lot of people out there today. >> not at all. a little nuisance showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. some tapered off. a few areas saw a few petty downpours, but overall, we were in the clear. at least for now we're getting a little break. heading into the overnight, i think we'll stir up a little more action prior to sunrise. right now, we are fairly calm and quiet in the immediate metro area on doppler 9000. however, you see all that moisture just down to the south and off towards the east. most of that is hugging the norfolk richmond area. then off to the mountain ranges, that's the moisture that will start creeping closer to us as we get into the early morning hours of sunday. so overall, we're looking pretty good from our michael & son cam right now. mainly cloudy skies, dry pavement and things are going to stay on the mild side overnight. 80 degrees at reagan national. we'll continue to see clouds fill into the early morning hour and yes, moisture will arrive prior to sunrise. although our temperatures are scattered right now, most of us dropping down into the 70s, seeing lower 70s towards leesburg and southern zones slightly warmer, but a very calm night tonight to start out with. getting into the early morning hours, isolated shower or thunderstorm is a possibility and, yes, we will see basically the opportunity for some mild temperatures overnight tonight, with a few late showers and thunderstorms, yes, scattered morning showers could be a possibility as well as keeping the umbrella by your side throughout the day tomorrow. by early morning, cloud cover only. early afternoon, late day showers and we'll carry this as we get into the early morning hours as well. so the forecast overall for tomorrow looks pretty good. i think we'll get to highs around the lower 80s. we'll keep it below average, but at least things will be improving. the beach forecast, not so good over the next three days, as we'll see showers and thunderstorms a possibility. so green alert for sunday forecast. monday looks okay, but notice temperatures start to warm up. we're pushing 90 degrees by tuesday. we have a yellow alert because as we get closer to the 90- degree mark, late day showers and thunderstorms will be a possibility and this could hit our tuesday afternoon commute. by the time we get to wednesday, we're still holding on to pretty significant cloud cover, but at least we'll get a late day shower or storm as a possibility. good news, the weekend, next weekend, a little better than this one. >> we'll always take good weather news for the weekend. redskins fan appreciation, and we're going to try to beat philly for a change. >> it would be nice to beat philly if you're the nationals, right? for a change. it would be nice for a change. it is red skin fan appreciation day at training camp, overwhelming day for fans and jake and i have been best friends for years. one of our favorite things to do is going to the dog park together. sometimes my copd makes it hard to breathe. so my doctor prescribed symbicort. it helps significantly improve my lung function starting within five minutes. symbicort doesn't replace a rescue inhaler for sudden symptoms. with symbicort today i'm breathing better. come on, boy!
