In hagers town maybe an 8. Leesburg, maybe an 8 or a 9. Winter storm warnings cover most of the metro area right to i95. East of 95, a Winter Weather advisory. But west and north, where its primarily snow, thats where youll see the big accumulations. Especially toward leesburg, and winchester, and the panhandle. This is our updated snowfall map. Melissa tweeted this out. Its on our website. 4 to 8 into Prince Georges County. 1 to 4 in southern maryland. The bulls eye hasnt changed. We lowered and brought the higher amounts to 95. This clip in northeast dc with the 8 to 12 plus. Think more in the 12 range. And for the future cast, hour by hour, heres melissa. The storm hasnt formed yet. Its still in the process of forming. Two areas of low pressure are working together. It ends up forming this noreaster off the coast. What were going to see is what the radar looks like is going to be more and more impressive as we work our way throughout the afternoon, into the evening, and over night before it works its way all the way up the east coast. Heres piece number one that were focusing on. And piece number two is down to the south. What ends up happening is theyre both kind of merging, transferring the energy to that coastal storm. Blinding snowfall in mankato minnesota led to multiple accidents along and frigid temperatures have been swirling across the nation for days. The freezing temperatures left this home off the shore of lake ontario in western new york encased in a sheet of ice. Its coming down. And the south hasnt been spared from this late winter snap, snow fell in the carolinas, and tennessee, reminding everyone that spring is still seven days away. Its pretty to see the snow come down but im ready for spring. Its been snowing in chicago since 10 00 last night. And thats the first measurable snow since mid december. Now this cold snap. This late snow. We could be looking at a first time where the yoshino trees any way, dont make it to peek bloom. But there are a dozen other varieties of cherry trees around the tidal basin that arent threatened by the weather. In other news, the man arrested for jumping the white house fence friday is due in court this afternoon hearing. 26yearold Jonathan Tran of california faces federal charges. Secret Service Agents arrested him near the south entrance. He claimed to be a friend of the president and that he had an appointment. He was carrying two cans of mace and admitted to jumping the fence. The president was inside the white house at the time. President trump is expected to release a budget this week that sharply cuts back Government Spending and analysts say the spending plan would reduce employment in this region by 1. 8 and even have a negative impact on home prices. The cuts cant take effect unless theyre approved by congress. Theyre vowing to fight the president s proposals and some republicans have expressed reservations about the size of the reduction. The white house and House Speaker paul ryan are setting low expectations for what the Congressional Budget Office will have to say about the number of americans who will be covered by the gop plan to repeal and those with less than rosie calculations could come as soon as today. His carrolled over and caught fire. A threeyearold girl was killed in a house fire in pennsylvania this weekend. They say the blaze was ignited by a hover board that was charging at the time. The pain is so deep. Two other girls in the house were critically injured. A harrisburg firefighter was also killed on his way to the fire by an alleged drunk driver. We updated it just a little bit. Lets start from the low end and work our 1 to 4 inches in charles county. That might be stretching it. A bit of a mix with rain, sleet, and snow. 4 to 8 east of 95. That includes back into dale city. The bulls eye will be northwest of i95. We pulled right up against 95. And clipped the northwest part of dc. Youre looking at thunder snow and a foot. Some of the new guidances coming in now, its possible well see some mixture. That will cut down accumulations. A little mixture as far west as leesburg with sleet. Mixture along the i95 corridor. That makes accumulations tough as to how much is going to fall in that corridor. So again, were looking at 8 to 12, north and west of town. Thats going to be the bulls eye. A live look outside. Pretty quiet now. 37. Dew points in the teens. Thats good. That means when the precipitation starts to fall, the air will cool a impact meter, now remember, about a 7 or 8. On the impact meter, i dont think its that big of a deal. Well give it a 3. Everyone should be home. This should catch no one by surprise. Carmagedon you were trapped in your car. Not the case. Only about a 3 for impact. Tough going. No doubt. As we get into tuesday morning. But if youre home, wait it out. Light snow tomorrow. 5 00 p. M. To 8 00 p. M. Heavy snow tonight. 10 00 p. M. To 10 00 a. M. And 8 to 12 plus north of the belt way. Refreezing next week. Right on through the week. Its going to refreeze every night this week. 8 00 tonightings heres the snow, moving northward. Surface temperature, still above freezing. By 10 00, pretty good snows going on. Probably accumulating in the mulch and grass. But in terms good shape with temps in the upper 30s. By midnight, heavy snow. Theres the rain down south in la plata. Getting into the 4 00 hour, you see this mixture. You see the pink here, thats the mixture, that will cut down accumulations. And all rain in southern maryland, with temperatures in the upper 30s. By 6 00 a. M. , were getting snow back toward 95. Colder air will move in. That will produce some heavier snow finally back into places like la plata and buoy. By 10 00, most of the snow begins to pull out with temperatures in the 30s. What about impact for the cities . Here is melissa. The impacts vary depending on where you are. The highest snow totals, thats where the roads will be most dangerous, snow covered. This tens to happen in the 8 to 12inch range you could get double digit ranges. Impacts for hagerstown. I think on roadways, when the snow is coming down, 10 00 p. M. Tonight, 10 00 a. M. Tomorrow morning, there will be significant impacts the roads will be snow covered. Totals between 8 to 12 inches. Lets take that and compare it to somewhere like la plata, your impact only moderate. You wont see as high of snow totals. Yellow weather alert today and tomorrow, it stays very cold wednesday into thursday, refreezing every night. Temperaturesth in e your morning. To see you guys.
