the driver of the second car waited at the scene for help. it can be dangerous for pedestrians. two have been struck and killed for the past few years. police are looking for the black pickup truck. if you can help, you are asked to give them a call. i'm andrea roane. good news for the families of two people pulled from their burning homes. the man is now in stable condition. the woman is talking after a close call this morning. the fire started around 6:30 along purple stage court in onrest. as delia goncalves tells us, four pets were inside. >> reporter: they had no idea the young couple was inside of the house when they first arrived. neighbor jim moran grabbed his camera and caught firefighters smashing through victims to get to the victims inside of that front bedroom. the man and woman in their 20s both unconscious and unresponsive. >> the two victims that were rescued from this structure fire here on purple sage court have been transferred from a local hospital now to the burn center at med star. >> animal control officers care for the couple's surviving birds, two dogs. two cats never made it out alive. >> he is a nice young man, very friendly, just a great guy. >> reporter: fair fighters say tyler went into cardiac arrest and later was revived by paramedics. his girlfriend regained consciousness while neighbors hoped for the best, they know it could have been far worse had the fire spread. >> great courage by the firefighters. >> reporter: in reston, delia goncalves, wusa 9. >> the town homes are separated by fire walls. there's no cause for the blaze that's believed to have been started in the first floor living room. a few showers today, but it's still fairly nice and pleasant for october. allison ray says the cooldown continues this week. she joins us with the first alert forecast. >> if you like the warm weather, get outside now. it is nice out there, especially in the district. the sun is out and feels good. we do have showers. not everyone is going to see them. we'll see a few more spotty showers. if you are not done with the showers yet, there's not going to be that many. we are drive for mow. this is just a loop showing the showers pushing on through. the actual front has to come on through this evening and as it does, it will spark a few more spotty showers. very few and far between and nothing to cancel any plans over. it's going to be fine. just a couple of nuisance showers. we are headed to the mid-70s, but that's just the first dose. a local road rage case is getting a lot of attention online and by investigators. it happened in loudoun county. michael crawford recorded the video of the near collision of a driver of a jeep and teenaged pedestrian. crawford started recording the conversation. the tiny helmet cam set off the driver. >> what are you a professional videographer? what is the best method, self- exam, clinical exam? >> screening is the best way to catch it early because it's curable. there are three things that women need to be doing. they need to be doing a exam. so once per month, we recommend doing a exam to make sure you are familiar with all of the lumps and bumps. having a physician do a breast exam once per year either your primary care physician or gynecologist or also that mammogram. there is a screening mammogram that is recommended to catch that breast cancer early. >> if there is a family history, genetic testing is a piece of that puzzle. who should do that and when should you consult with a geneticist? >> usually there are certain signs we look for that are higher risks. when you have several family members that are on the same side of the family, that could be mom or dad's side. when you have a man in the family with breast cancer, since male breast cancer rare that would trigger an evaluation and breast cancer at younger ages. so we're talking women in their 30s and 40s is also something we test for. >> reporter: we talk about lifestyle changes, the things to add and subtract. can you really reduce your chances? >> well, you know, breast cancer and all cancers come from mutations of your genes. there's not much you can do about the aging process and what happens with that. you can't do anything about the genetics you have but the modifiable risk factors mainly boil down to estrogen and for the hormone relationship. so most women know that taking a lot of hormone replacement can increase your risk of breast cancer. the other thing that's very important is your weight. so obesity is a big risk factor. when you are post-menopausal, one of the main sources of estrogen in your body is from extra fat tissue. that can increase your risk. we really want to make sure that you are keeping a healthy lifestyle, a good body weight. alcohol can also contribute to that estrogen process with slightly higher levels of estrogen. >> that's the advice you can get if you call us at the number on your screen. right now, good information about the weather from allison ray. >> thanks, andrea. we had morning showers that will skirt through quickly. not everybody saw the showers. we didn't think everyone would see them. later on this afternoon, we'll see a couple more of the light, spotty showers. better chance this afternoon would be along and east of 95. i'll show you on the futurecast. we're dry for now and the sun is coming out. through the rest of the week and weekend, each day will be a good day. the temperatures will take a dive, but hey, we're in the middle of october. so we've got to get used to this. we started off a little warmer this morning. temperatures are getting nice and comfortable with a little bit of sunshine out there. owings is at 72. the actual front is still back off here. so when it pushes through later on this evening around dinner time, that's when we'll spark a few moore showers. after that, the winds turn and the cool air will move on in slowly but surely. 74 degrees by 3:00. notice the winds are still out of the southwest. this evening, the winds turn with more of the northerly component and we see some of the cool air starting to set up shop for the rest of the week. then another dose. here's a look at the feetcast right along and east of 95 will be the better chance of the quick, spotty showers. this is nothing to cancel any plans over. maybe a few more through the areas north and west near martinsburg and hagerstown. by 8:00, most areas are drying out and seeing the clearing skies continue. later tomorrow, it will be a couple of showers to start off but seasonable temperatures with 70s and upper 60s. then things keep falling off. 76 for today. tomorrow we'll get to 70. breezy times, it is a nice, fall day. as we head through thursday, it's going to be sunny, cool, nice. taking step one down to the 60s. 65 degrees. if you like the cool weather, we have the perfect weekend for you. we have been into the 50s already for highs this month actually. remember that nor'easter we had that caused cloudy weather, dreary weather, all of that rain. we'll be into the 50s. it's going to be cool, below average. our average high is about 69. the sun's going to be out. you can grab the sunglasses and sweater. another weekend to go pumpkin picking if you haven't gotten yours yet. look how low we go. it's 58 by saturday. sunday only back up to 61 by monday. we'll be right back after this. the phone lines are still open for the next five minutes to talk to an expert from innova about breast cancer screening, risks and genetic testing. we want to talk with dr. sarah bruce one more time. she's here from innova alexandria hospital. she's taking a call right now. what kind of questions have you been getting?
