The total Lunar Eclipse sparked rumors as being a sign of the end of time. Most people who gathered at the plaza said it was just a cool sight to see in the nighttime sky. Its amazing to see the world and the university sitting around us. When things happen like this, its not its beyond our human almost comprehension and beyond our control. Thats something thats awe inspiring. Clouds got in the way for much of the night, but the people who filled the plaza brought high powered telescopes and the moon snuck out from behind the clouds for the naked eye to get a good look. It doesnt feel very autumnal out there but that will change and cooler temperatures will head our way for the second half of the week. Will we dry out much . That may take a while longer. Look at haziness in the sky. It is humid. It is warm. Were going to be up to 830 if not 80 if not low 80s the way were going. If we get enough sun, 82, maybe 83 which is way above the average. Averages are in the mid70s. A spotty shower or two. Thats about it im thinking for today with temperatures slowly dropping into the 70s. If you are going out to nats park for the final home game, it is going to be a warm, sticky afternoon which is good for baseball. The air is less dense. Weve got 78. It is 80 at tappahannock. 78 in reedville. Low 80s in cambridge at 28 with upper 60s and low 70s in the Shenandoah Valley. Ill have the fog i have that fog but thats pretty much burned off. 78 degrees now. Feeling like 80 thanks to the humidity. Still high. 68 with a dew point 67. No wind to mix the air up so it has a real thick feel to it. Going to stay warm and muggy through tomorrow with a passing shower today, tonight. Some patchy fog through tomorrow morning. Lots of moisture showing up on our satellite and radar. We have this boundary up here but its in the gulf of mexico where we have some nontropical lows at the moment. And all this moisture. They had flooding rains, over 7 inches in the mobile area, west florida. Look all this moisture off the west coast of florida. Thats trying to lift north. We also have a tropical depression which could become Tropical Storm joaquin. This is modeled to track northwest. This could have an impact maybe friday, saturday. If youre headed to the shore this weekend, there could be several problems as far as the on shore winds, rains, tropical depression or storm off shore. High pressure in the Hudson Valley and eastern new england. Thats been pumping, the easterly winds so weve had some high tides across the coastal areas with all the low level humidity. Heres the futurecast. Specks of green here and there. Green represents rain. Darker colors are heavier rain. Not much going on tonight into tuesday morning. Except out in West Virginia and southwestern virginia. This moisture now forecast a little earlier. By lunch time maybe even parts of the lower Shenandoah Valley in the mountains west trying to get to the metro later tomorrow afternoon. This is sped up from earlier. So as meteorologists, we like to see some runtorun consistency. Once we have that, well go with a yellow weather alert day. Might be tomorrow, might be wednesday or both. 80 degrees today if not the low 80s. 70s tonight. Hope the ac is working. Youll need it with a passing shower. 60s in the suburbs. Tomorrow again around 80 with a few showers. Isolated storms which may become more numerous later in the afternoon. A shower threat on wednesday as well. Maybe some rain especially in the morning and look how were going to be cooler thursday and friday with more rain possible on saturday for the terps. Drying out for the burgundy and gold. Well be back with grz take a look at this mural created by a pair of british artists in lima, peru. The artists are part of the london police, a street art collective. And they were invited there by the british council. I want people to look at it and recognize its been done all by hand and its taken two people a lot of time, a lot of hours. I think thats quite a nice thing. But also id like the idea its a positive image. And we need those. They have painted miewrms in more than 30 murals in more than 30 countries in a span of almost 20 years. They got their start in amsterdam. Thats cool. Its very cool. Thats it for us.
