was too much for the roof of this portland building. it gave way over the weekend, unable to withstand the snow and ice. >> reporter: this is the kind of damage the heavy coating of ice can do. bringing down heavy tree branches and power lines. >> reporter: richard godsy and his wife are relying on a fireplace to keep warm. they have been without power for nearly two days, when we visited them last night. >> it has done more damage. to people's homes, cars. >> reporter: for many, sticking it out at home is not an option. red cross volunteer patty dougherty traveled nearly 200 miles to lend a hand at this shelter. >> i don't think you can imagine it is this bad until you get here. >> reporter: she says a number of people here at the monday ray first baptist church were rescued from their houses. officials say restoring power to everyone in this world, in this community could tampa bay a couple of weeks. take a look at this huge fire on the highway in new jersey. the driver of an oil tanker truck lost control and crashed. the truck burst into flames, just across the delaware river from philadelphia. the details are still coming out on this story. it is not clear at this point if anyone was injured in this. several people were hurt in an accident this morning. a minivan and a truck collided, hazardous material, one person had to be taken out of the vehicle. we don't know the cause of the crash at this point. there is nothing left of a home after a fast moving fire this morning on olely road around 2:30. no one was home the damage is estimated at $425,000. cause of the fire is still under investigation. the road is open now. police are searching for two men connected if in a deadly shooting in the brooklyn neighborhood in northeast washington. investigators say the suspects fired several shots to the first floor glass patio door into an apartment. the man who lived there was hit in the chest and died. two men were seen leaving the area in a black 4 door sedan. no word yet on a motive for the shooting. the retrial of a dc police officer charged with trying to kill his wife in prince george's county was supposed to get underway today but now the start has been delayed. officer sam lawrence faces first and second degree murder charges. the jury failed to reach a verdict in his first trial last year. so what led to 11 overdoses at wesley an university in connecticut? five students are in the hospital after taking a drug called molly. two of them are listed in critical condition. drug experts say taking this drug, molly, is like playing russian rule let. it includes a toxic mixture of chemicals that are created in labs. scotland yard is leading the search now for three missing british girls who could be on their way to the middle east to join isis. their families are hoping they have not crossed into syria just yet, which would make it much more difficult to bring them home lucy mcdonald reports. >> reporter: the families of three missing crying. >> reporter: the girls are straight a students at the same london school and told their parents they had extra classes. but instead security cameras captured them at an airport where they boarded a flight to istanbul. roles are offered as nurses, cooks and wives. authorities say about 500 people have left britain for syria and that there is a growing trend of more and more young girls joining the terror group. investigators are checking out possible contacts between the girls and extremists, including a tweet sent to another teenager believed to have left for syria in 2013. the girl's family say she may have persuaded their daughter join her. >> british police have traveled to turkey to search for those girls. operations are starting to get back to normal at the ports of the temperatures are plummeting. and it is a real shock of the buzz usually you wake up to the really cold temperatures and it moderate a little in the afternoon. i hope you have been paying attention to work and wind chills will be in the single digits and teens as you are heading back home and getting ready for dinner. then, during the overnight hours, it will turn downright frigid again. remember how cold it was on early friday morning? a very similar story, a little milder wednesday, still dry, maybe just a flurry. not a big deal. 27 in gaithersburg and martins burglary. but when you factor conservative. what did you think of scarlet johansen? >> the green is gorgeous on her skin tone. the necklace was entirely too much. >> there is your oscar winner there i don't yes a little too pale. even though she is gorgeous the hair and makeup was beautiful and of course, jennifer lopez, just stunning. absolutely stunning. >> what do you think about some of the backlash we heard about neil patrick harris said his performance as host was a little forecast or maybe he moved jokes through that got under the skin a little bit? >> you know, he was amazing. he did a fantastic job. the oscars are very hard to host. hats off to him for making it through and having fun with it. he looked stunning, even in his underwear. >> it is not as gutsy for him to show up in his underwear when he is
