at 6:00, a 6th grade teacher involved in sexually assaulting two students. he's admitted to a method -- to molesting one of the girls every day for three months in a classroom full of students. so what is the school system doing to make sure this never happens again? the northern virginia bureau chief is asking that question today. >> i told her to always do what the teacher says. >> i had no idea that would happen. >> what happened to an 11-year- old girl at maryellen henderson middle school is simply shocking. >> i can't believe it went on as long as it did undetected. >> three months every day. >> almost every day. >> the girfa estrada did to his daughter. >> your daughter is sitting in a classroom in the back. >> yes, and he pulled his chair up to her next to her every day and he liked to turn the classroom lights down because they hurt his eyes. >> and that's how he molested her? >> that's the way it's told. >> prosecutors say before coming to falls church, he'd been forced out of three other local school districts after facing allegations of bad behavior. prosecutors say the principal at henderson had told him to not be alone with children. newly hired superintendent peter noonan disputes that. >> he was asked to be cautious of the high-fiving. >> there were no red flags that you know of? >> not one red flag we were able to discern from any conversations we had with former employers or the fingerprinting and background checks. >> is there nothing the school syst students know, hey, if something weird is going on, please let us know. >> one of the things that we are going to continue to hit with our kids is don't be afraid, don't be shy, step up if you see something. talk to an adult. >> i know there are good teachers out there. but this person, obviously, put himself in the position and he knew he could do it. he is guilty. he did it, but the school system is also guilty because they let it happen. >> this man's daughter didn't tell anyone about the abuse until another game -- another girl came forward. he abused the second girl after school. she fought back. peggy fox, wusa 9. >> he'll be sentenced on august 4th. he's looking at a maximum 10 years in prison. upon his release, he will be required to register as a sex offender. breaking news. there's a suspect in custody for the murder of an 82-year- old man in his fort washington home. just before 10:00 this morning, prince george county police got a frantic call from family members. they were called to this home on mill street. they couldn't get in touch with the elderly man who lived there. police ended up breaking down the door and they found him suffering from some kind of trauma to his body. the family members say he was supposed to turn 83 tomorrow. the university of maryland had some real conversations about racism in a very public way. they talked back-and-forth with students and the community following the killing of lieutenant richard collins. collins was killed in a possible hate crime. some people said they were angry while others said they were still emotionally raw about the whole situation. one person tweeted, the school is not doing enough. another woman said, the steps the university has done or too little too late. the school had two other sessions for students to talk about their feelings on campus today. collins will be buried tomorrow morning. his funeral is at 11:00 at the first baptist church then on social media, you probably heard about the republican running for congress in montana. now charged with assaulting a reporter. his name is forte. lots of new developments tonight, but first some audio from last night's incident. we pick it up as ben jacobs asks about the healthcare bill. >> there's not going to be time. >> i am sick and tired of you guys. the last time i was here you did the same thing. get out of here. >> now, reporter jacob says he body slammed him. the campaign says jacobs shoved a recorder in the candidates face and grabbed the candidates wrists. officers have charged him with misdemeanor assault. he is due in court next month. as for the race, the special election takes place y. seen or heard from today. others are talking the republican, how speakers here in washington, paul ryan calling on him to apologize. montana's governor accuses the candidate about lying about what happened. montana newspapers have all pulled their endorsements. president trump paid tribute to the victims of the manchester bombing in brussels, belgium. >> i would like to ask that we now observe a moment of silence for the victims and families of the savage attack which took place in manchester. >> the president also expressed his sympathy to the british prime minister for the 22 people who lost their lives in the manchester attack. the prime minister says there is progress in the manchester concert bombing. police say they have made significant arrests, but british authorities are from the united states. they say those weeks are compromising the investigation. >> i will be making clear to president trump today the intelligence that he shares between law enforcement agencies must remain secure. >> specifically, british authorities are angry that photos showing remanence of the bomb made their way into the new york times. they say they will no longer share information with the u.s. because of the leaks. president trump called the leaks deeply troubling. he's asking the justice department to investigate and once the person or persons responsible to be prosecuted. dozens of people injured in the manchester concert bombing still in the hospital. more than 20 of them in critical condition. today queen elizabeth paid a visit to the city's children's hospital to talk with some of the young bombing victims. listen to one who suffered a leg injury. >> we tried to tie jumpers and stuff just ran outside. a lot of the paramedics were outside. >> in manchester and all across england, a moment of silence was held for the victims of the terrorist attack. now to breaking news. the fight over the proposed travel band headed for the u.s. supreme court. the justice department says it will ask the highest courts to take up the case. this after a federal appeals court in richmond, virginia upheld the ruling against the van. it used the words discrimination and religious intolerance to describe the restriction. it would target some six muslim majority countries. the white house says it's needed for national security. trump shoved taking off on social media right now. to put a tighter focus on the fight against terrorism. today is national missing children's day. our anger reflects on the case of kaylee anthony. she was a little girl covered in florida in 2009. >> reporter: the story of kaylee anthony, the two-year- old girl from orlando, florida who disappeared in june of 2009. i lived in orlando for five years. i cover that story closely over the three or four years that it progressed, first from a missing person's case into a murder investigation and then the trial of her mother, casey anthony. my daughter was born in 2010. it's a story that struck me very hard. it's very emotional to go through that and somehow they would treat their daughter. 10 states have what is known as crime for a parent or caregiver not to report their child missing within at 6:00, a woman gets quite a shock when she walked out of her car after work. but up next, frightening rv chase caught on camera in texas. 911 dispatchers got a text from the woman in that rv. she told them she had been shot and her two sons kidnapped by her husband. police were able to track it down and when they started chasing, the woman jumped out going around 80 miles per hour. it finally came to a stop on the freeway and the kids came out. police say they heard a gunshot from inside the rv and they caught it on fire with the man inside. he did not survive. investigators are waiting to interview the mom. she had to have surgery for a broken jaw. check this out. trending tonight on our facebook page, a vancouver, washington woman says a can of hairspray left in the car exploded right blood? investigators have charged the man with practicing health services without a license. >> they say he was storing large quantities of that blood in an abandoned apartment in southwest. the dc superior court judge just released him pending trial. >> reporter: in the bizarre and creepy and we are waiting for some kind of explanation of a story that seems stranger than fiction. investigators say he told them he was working for a company called boston bio, but they have been unable to get a hold of that company, and another woman who was there but has not been charged told them they were doing some kind of work-study, like for a college. nightclub bouncer hassan taylor says he was among the scores of people who offered up their veins. >> it's painful, because they put the tubes down your nose they give you a shot in your hand. >> someone finally called the police. when the cops searched the third floor apartment, they say they found large quantities of blood in storage. along with lots of used needles and files. a ledger with 205 names on it. >> what was the explanation for why he was doing this? >> she didn't even give us an explanation. he said thank you and that was it. >> his own lawyer now says he had a prior record for selling oxycontin. another big question was, was even using sterile needles? a lot of the people who sold their blood are now worried about that. southwest to northeast. still some pretty ominous clouds. 63 right now. temps have fallen about 10 degrees because of the showers. wins going to the southeast t . the storms crossing over i have been 270 on the east side and crossing over 50 toward annapolis and up 95 for baltimore. there are some storms between leesburg and warrenton. senior pga, they've had some pretty big storms in the last hour but they are beginning to wane a bit. we do have a new warning. this is a new warning for anne arundel county, baltimore, prince georges county till 7:00. it's a tiny part of prince georges county. the heaviest rain if you are headed out to 50, it's ridiculous. it's very heavy. a little bit of lightning with the storm. small hail and maybe winds up to 58 miles per hour. not a warning on this but this is the heavy storms across over 270. it's big-time rain from lakeville to damascus. that's pushing off to the north and east as well. still some pretty good rain from silver spring. have seen with this particular storm. 158 strikes in the last 10 minutes. so that storm is becoming rather intense. we've had storm reports, mainly to the south of town. notice tree damaging wind gusts. we will zoom in down toward dahlgren. when gusts of 51 miles per hour. good enough for damage there and reports of hail just to the west. great pictures coming in. this is from southern maryland. this is that down burst at 51 mile-per-hour winds. probably generated by that very cloud. this is in clarksburg. looking a little scary. this is some hail in rockville. just under the criterion for severe
