Now, police found an adult body here at the red roof inn at the 16,000 block of shady grove. I will step out of the shot and direct our viewers attention to the left door where officers are walking outside. Because the victims body is still inside this room. Police have not confirmed the gender on the identity of the victim or how he or she may have died. Only it is suspicious. We know this person suffered trauma to their body. There are a half dozen the room. The medical examiner arrived to the scene. We asked police why the door is open and whether or not they may have witnesses and who could have found the body. The Prince Georges County firefighter was killed last night in the line of duty during a welfare check and the second firefighter injured, 19 yearold kevin swain is in serious but stable condition at baltimore shock trauma. Stephanie ramirez also learned three others were injured. Reporter more on this suspect. A county fire spokesperson say it is suspect in this shooting supposed to receive this welfare check on the 5,000 block of sharon road in temple hills. The suspect worked or is working as a grounds keeper near the capitol building. The neighbors are very upset about what they saw yesterday and what they are learning today. What a wonderful guy. Reporter one guy broke down as we talked to him as his neighbor said he is the kindest of neighbors. That person now a suspect. It is a tragedy. Yes, its a tragedy. The poor guy the guy killed. Reporter those living next door says it is surreal to them. I was just shocked. Like i said earlier, i lived here 40 years and i have never seen anything like this. Reporter the suspects sibling made the welfare check request saying his brother suffers from diabetes and hadnt responded. The Fire Department arrived. Firefighter kevin swain knocking down a panel entry. Firefighter john ulmschneider, we are told, was the first inside. It is just very. Um. Unsettling. Reporter sharon and richard said their neighbor was always kind. They couldnt believe what was happening as they watched the scene unfold. It is a loss to the family, the community, to his friends. And, we dont understand why. One firefighter described him as a good old country boy who loved a good hard day at work. Reporter ulmschneider lovingly called skillet to friends and family because his head was as tough as a cast iron skillet. He leaves behind a wife and two yearold daughter. To have a life end in tragedy by gunfire, it is just something we are still coming to grips with. We are still in shock. Reporter you see out here, the memorial continue to grow as a woman as the suspects sister. She says her brother didnt mean to do this and he is very ill. No charges have been filed by police. Reporter she and the officer she is with race to temple hills not knowing which of her friends is hurt. I have never been so scared in my life. I was horrified. Because when they said it was morning side, firefighters, i said those are my boys. Reporter she is not allowed to leave the car. I see all these officers pulling assault rifles out of their trunks to barricade this guy in this house. Reporter she knows the news isnt good. They head to the hospital. The first crews there. We go into the emergency room. Because i was allowed to get out at that point. Go in and see, theres just Fire Department, police department, hospital staff, all just around the room. Reporter she is going to college and hope to one day a paramedic. The loss, the veteran firefighter and medic ulmschneider has hit Prince Georges County hard. It is a different line of duty. Usually, it is something where they are on a fire. The floor collapses or something horrible like that. But they were responding on a check on the welfare call and Something Like this happens and it is horrible. You know, this was his career. This is what he loved.
