right now 6:01. out in rossville we have an accident that's blocking parts of rockville pike. i believe the southbound side at this point between twin brook parkway ask congressional lanes. sky 9 is over the scene and from the looks another i have we have police -- of it we have police that are also there. they've been using flashlights to search for something. a motorcycle is also involved and a vehicle. again, just watch out for detours on the southbound side of rockville pike. we'll have an update for you in roughly ten minutes. for now over to you. new this morning, police are looking for suspects in a double shooting in temple hills. a woman was killed and a man was rushed to the hospital. police say they found the man outside a house along 23rd parkway. the woman was found inside a nearby home. the names of the victims have not been released and so far, there is no word on a motive. the victim of a deadly tour bus crash in laurel has been identified. michael palomo was 45 years old. the crash happened yesterday at a busy section at laurel fort mead road and rock ridge road. investigators say the bus driver failed to yield to a pickup truck as the bus turned into a shopping center. palomo the truck driver was killed and none of the 58 people on the bus were seriously hurt. due back in court today the mother of two missing montgomery county kids. the key question is whether katherine hoggle will tell a judge what happened to her children sarah and jacob. their mother is charged with abduction and neglect and also accused of hindering the investigation into the disappearance of the children. jacob was 2 when he was missing from the gaithersburg area last september. his sister was 4. in the past, katherine has been found incompetent to stand trial. meanwhile the trial of the prince george's county man accused of killing his stem father also -- stepfather also a d.c. police detective is coming to a close. antoine james is charged with killing joseph newell and prosecutors say james shot his stepfather the death after a disagreement over yard work. new information that is pretty big deal if you live in silver spring. the silver spring transit center, this huge eyesore that we've been standing in front of for years and years and years, yeah, it's finally going to open. sunday 4:00 a.m. there isn't going to be any hoopla. fanfare, they're just going to quietly usher the beginning of operations here literally under the shadow of the early morning darkness. now this transit center has been a point of contention and it has led to lawsuits and a lot of finger pointing and blaming over the years. of course, we know there have been five years of delays and the project is $50 million over budget. it was plagued with problems from the very start. there was crumbling concrete soon after it was constructed and after all the repairs the three level facility is finally safe enough and set to open on sunday. and if you don't believe me just take a look at the chain link fence, that's going to be gone we're told bid is a morning -- by saturday morning. a lot of changes will come as well. the bus routes are about to change and more detail on that pope francis. providence hospital in northeast is celebrating the historic visit by the pope to washington by dedicating the pope francis emergency department. the archdiocese of washington will bless the newly named e. r. today at 10:00 this morning. and be prepared for hours of gridlock next week when the pope is here and drivers could experience traffic backups of nearly two hours next week. all of us are being warned to use alternate routes and due to the downtown street closings, will ellis plans to ditch his car and take metro instead. >> going to be like mad traffic. probably going to be like an hour added to the drive or maybe more than that. >> the biggest concern is next wednesday morning's rush hour. the roads will be closed around the time the pope meets with the president at the the joint service open house. the largest aerial demonstration event in the d.c. area by far. and we're just happy to have it back and proud to be able to show the public just what we can do with america's air power. >> reporter: today, they start practicing. that's a big deal. that's very important right? >> it is. it is big deal. we want to be sure that everything is down to the minute and perfect. make sure the performers have a chance to practice the maneuvers they're going to be going through that the public will see here tomorrow so that everything is safe. >> reporter: tomorrow is a big event and what do people need to know? >> it is. tomorrow is a big event and we're going to have aerial demonstrations and statsic displays over 30 aircraft from vintage aircraft all the way to the newest joint strike fiter the f-35 on display here. and aerial performances starting around 10:30 until approximately 4:00 in the afternoon. >> reporter: this is not only air show but also a way to thank everyone out there and military appreciation day as well. talk about that. >> absolutely, not just a chance for us to get up and fly but we want to show off america's air power and the public to be able to see what their military and their law enforcement agencies and other agencies that are going to be displayed ear can perform. >> reporter: so we're showing video of the thunder birds on air, talk a little bit about those. >> the birds, most everybody knows the air force's premiere aerial demonstration team. they're flying advanced f- fighters. -- f-16 fighters and they are practiced down to the second. they get -- come within five feet of each other. it's quite an experience to see them fly and it's amazing and the public that has seen them will want to see them again and if you haven't seen them, it's -- it's an opportunity you don't want to miss. >> reporter: one last question, f-35s are going to be debuted for the first time in the area tomorrow, that's exciting right? >> absolutely. the air force's version of the f 35 is not operationally combat capable yet. the marines are. so three services will have a different version of the aircraft. but it's the fifth generation fighter. it will be on display here. unfortunately it's not going to be flying but it will be on display and many can see it most for the first time. >> reporter: it's going to be incredible air show a look at some volume. still really light here on the inner and outer loop of the belt ray right now. -- way right now. back to the maps and southbound on i-270 from germantown road to the capital beltway now a 14 minute commute. issue and problem free on i-66 from cambridge road to north glebe road. a 14 minute commute. volume on the northbound side of 95 again typical and it picks up as you get closer to springfield from furnace road to i-395 a ten minute commute. and southbound on the bw parkway from powder mill road down to overlook avenue in southwest, you're looking at a 21 minute commute. want to take some cameras and this is the 14th street bridge here for those of you traveling northbound on i-395 coming into town. you can see the volume starting to pick up as you get closer to d.c.. and over the bridge. for a look on the maryland camera we see volume both on the inner and outer loop here at new hampshire avenue. primarily in the inner loop of the beltway things flowing more freely on the outer loop. but again no major incidents that are going to impact the morning commute. the next traffic up coming up in rough -- update coming up in roughly ten minutes. over to you. at 6:19 here's what's in the news right now. it's day two of a military pretrial hearing to determine the fate of former army sergeant bowe bergdahl. bergdahl was taken hostage by the taliban after deserting his post. in the move the obama administration traded five taliban prisoners being held at guantanamo bay for his release. hena daniels has more. >> reporter: defense attorneys will begin building their case today to keep former army sergeant bowe bergdahl from facing a military trial. the 29-year-old stands accused of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy for leaving his post in afghanistan in 2009. charges which carry a possible life sentence. on day one of the pretrial hearing yesterday in san antonio, bergdahl sat in court. still and silent and sometimes taking notes. >> it's a very low evidentiary threshold and certainly for that reason, should not be thought of as a trial. >> reporter: prosecutors called three witnesses to the stand. including bergdahl's former platoon leader captain john billings. billings described how thousands of soldiers risked their lives for 45 days to try to find bergdahl. in a region known as ied alley. under cross-examination, billings testified he had no idea about bergdahl's mental health history and defense attorneys haven't revealed how that could play into their case. they plan to call their own witnesses to the stand today, including major general kenneth dahl who conducted the army's investigation into his disappearance. >> stick around, you may learn more about what sergeant bergdahl told general dahl. >> reporter: bergdahl has never explained why he left. he spend nearly five years in taliban cap difficult after he deserted. it's unclear if his attorneys will put him on the stand today. hena daniels for cbs news. >> meanwhile crow way that is the latest country to close its border crossings. this news comes after the estimated 11,000 migrants entered the country through serbia. croatian authorities claim the towns are simply not prepared for the surge in population. united nations is calling for calm in jerusalem in the wake of violence between jews and muslims at a shared holy site. the clashes began three days ago on the eve of the jewish new year. this is video of the clash at the mosque. there's now growing concern these clashes will incite wider violence between extremests on both sides. the death toll is now at five as devastating wildfires sweep through northern california. two more bodies were found in a burned out home. two major wildfires continue to burn. but cooler weather and rain have helped firefighters gain ground. some investors are breathing easier this morning now that we know u.s. interest rates are staying put at record lows at least for now. yesterday the federal reserve ended weeks of speculation by keeping its benchmark short- term rate near zero. the fed chair yellen did mention a rate hike is stilt likely this year. the fed meets again next month and then again in december. maryland is the wealthiest state in america. that's according to an analysis by 24/7 wall street. the state has the highest median household health officials who are urging people across the country to get vaccinated. they say this year's flu vaccines are a good match to the flu virus that's spreading in the u.s. fewer than half of americans get immunized even though the flu kills about 24,000 people every year here in the u.s. soap is just as effective as antibacterial soap with washing your hands. that's the finding from scientists in korea. the antiseptic ingredient in antibacterial soap offers no better results in removing bacteria than plain soap. hot water? soap. and about a minute's worth of washing. >> so it all a new push this morning to crack down on synthetic drug use in the d.c. area. d.c. delegate holmes norton is branding together with two other lawmakers to stop the spread of drugs. they have a news conference scheduled for 10:00 a.m. the talk about the new legislation they hope will combat the problem. and new body camera program for police officers will be launched next summer in the baltimore region. that's the word from baltimore county police. they say the first 150 cameras will be deployed july 2016. eventually 1400 officers will be equipped with the body cameras. virginia's word of health has voted to roll back some strict rules involving abortion clinics. the decision comes as a setback to pro life advocates under the new rules existing abortion clinics will not have to comply with hospital style rules and building codes. the rules still need to be finalized. live in the newsroom, mike hydeck, back to you. some new information and some good news that will probably make your friday if you live here in silver spring. this old transit center, it's opening. that's right. sunday at 4:00 a.m. yes, we are five years late and 0 budget. but the project is finally good to go. sunday, 4:00 a.m. is the opening. metro says it will be no fanfare celebration. it will just open. and can you blame them for literally trying to sneak this in? literally in the dark. but $140 million project has been a huge embarrassment that was plagued with problems from the start. and after lawsuits and repairs, the center will open. but that will change your morning commute on metrobus, montgomery ride on and taxis. and even some biking commuters will see some changes as well. i've added all those changes on our wusa9 mobile app so you can take a look for yourself. and to give you a little perspective on just how long this has been around, the facility is named after senator paul sar banes. who was still in office when this was being built. senator sar baines retired in 2007. back to you in the studio. all right. delia thank you. some changes coming to i-66 that are aimed at improving your commute. from d.c. to gainesville, the existing red x lanes will now open when it gets congested. right now those lanes are already only open during peak rush hour. from d.c. to centreville new smart signs will tell you which lanes are blocked or usable well in advance of an accident. but some motorists aren't convinced the changes will really help. >> really a problem and always backed. >> i -- backed up. >> i say don't make it worse. >> the expansion of i-66 is a hotly road. should ease up a bit once you get the ridge road and over to the 14th street bridge. and inbound on i-66 making your way into areas like fairfax and rosslyn, going over the key bridge into georgetown audiotape reals -- all lanes are open and traffic still fairly light in that stretch of the i-66 corridor. the drive times coming up after the seven day forecast, over to you. online pocker affecting several hundred players on sites like pokerstars and fulltiltpoker, security experts say the trojan virus is installed onto computers after downloading poker related programs including player data bases and calculators. the spyware takes screen shots of the affected players' rds and sending it to hackers who then join online tables where victims are playing to up the stakes and steal money. we spoke with poker players who quit playing online when they suspected something was wrong. >> i've played lot of online and i cashed out once. and a span of two years, once. so obviously there's something going on. >> despite federal and state bans on online poker, an estimated one million californians spend $300 million annually playing the game. typically on websites based outside the country. korea ho worries professional players may also be victims of the virus. >> hopefully this is going to be rectified somehow so that we can continue doing what we love for a living
