weather advisory from midnight through tomorrow afternoon. these areas near frederick, hagerstown, westminster, you might not see rain. you could just see snow. that's where we could see up to 3 inches possible. once you head farther south of that, a lot of this will melt on the roads and we will see some accumulations on the grassy surfaces. today no problems. we will get to the futurecast coming up. we're heading to the 50s today. good morning, larry. >> good morning. if you're going to be heading out in the next 5 to 10 minutes, a smooth commute. trains and buses running on schedule. sky 9 is over the bw parkway to show us how things are shaping up if you're traveling southbound. that is the bw parkway heading south toward the district. no problems on the bw parkway. the same story if you're traveling along 270 making your way from frederick on toward the beltway. a live look at monday toes road. you can start to -- montrose road. you can start to see traffic building on the southbound side. back to you. again a little more on the story larry was telling us about. firefighters still in silver spring working to find the cause after fire which damaged multiple businesses. >> this started at about 1:00 this morning on georgia avenue, the silver spring gaylord, the mandarin chinese restaurant and cory house tavern all damaged from the fire. one firefighter suffered minor burns on a hand. governor terry mcauliffe is calling for an investigation into the amount of force used in the arrest of uva student martese johnson. >> he was beaten and bloodied when he tried to get into a local bar. delia goncalves has more on the story. >> reporter: the 20-year-old tried to use a fake i.d. to get into the bar early wednesday morning. the bouncer pulled him aside. alcohol beverage control officers showed up on the scene and within seconds martese johnson ended up on the ground and bloody. you can hear johnson tell officers he's a uva student, even calling them racist at e on point. witnesses say he pled for mercy but officers say he was agitated and beligerant. johnson was arrested for public intoxication, obstruction of justice as well. he was allegedly trying to use that fake i. dmpleghts to get into the -- i.d. to get into the bar. more than a thousand uva students held a vigil in protest last night on campus. a teary eyed johnson was there, too. >> it begs the question who are those people there meant to protect? >> reporter: johnson is an elected representative of the school's honor committee which upholds the school's honor system. coming up in the next half- hour, i'll tell you what school leaders are saying about this arrest. andrea, back to you. >> delia, thank you. police asking for your help finding a missing teenager from frederick, maryland. 16-year-old hunter kay was last seen in the area of wilcox court on st. patrick's day. he has short brown hair and a short beard. he was wearing a black denim jacket, black jeans and black tennis shoes. if you see him, call frederick city police. it was a year ago today relisha rudd was officially declared missing and has still not been found. >> we haven't forgotten her and not stopped hoping she will be final. nick giovanni is here with what wusa9 hopes to raise awareness for a cause near and dear to our station and viewers. >> reporter: the sad truth is relisha's case is far too common. the numbers show 2000 kids go missing in the u.s. each day which works out to be one every 90 seconds. throughout the day we'll be tweeting missing children from the greater washington area specifically. [ no audio ] >> reporter: our hope is you'll join us to help bring them home. follow us on twitter during those times. the best way for us to help find them is to show them to as many people as possible. some surveillance tapes taken the night two secret service agents crashed through a white house barricade may have been erased. joseph clancy showed two videos from the scene. one showed agent bit of the action. lawmakers say clancy told them other videos taken the same day might have been erased. secret service policy calls for tapes to be destroyed after 72 hours. the obama administration has is he a new controversial record. the new report says the administration censored or denied access to more government files than any previous presidential administration. the report comes from the associated press. the ap says the administration admits nearly one in three of those cases its initial decisions to with hold those records were improper under the law. a d.c. police officer accused of sexually assaulting to teenagers is due in court today. >> one of the teens says darrell best assaulted her inside d.c. police headquarters. nikki burdine is outside d.c. superior court with a preview. nikki? >> reporter: good morning. i was reading the charging documents for darrell best. i have to tell you, they are very disturbing and now we're learning that this isn't the first time that officer darrell best has been in trouble. he has been with the mpd for 25 years and sources tell us that best was at one time promoted to sergeant and then he was demoted back to officer following an allegation of sexual misconduck, possibly at the dc police academy. today at 9:30, best will be in court facing four counts of sexual abuse charges stemming from several incidents by two teenage girls. the first girl who was 16 years old says best attacked her several times at the god of a second chance church where he is a lead pastor. charging documents show that one of those attacks happened in february during choir practice. another alleged victim, a girl who at the time of the attack was 17 years old says she was attacked by best at his office at mpd headquarters. investigators say they have surveillance video of best with that girl getting off an elevator here at headquarters that confirm her story but again today, best will be here at d.c. superior court at 9:30 for a hearing for the sexual abuse charges. we'll be here in court and bring you an update and of course let you know if best makes bail. back to you in the studio. >> nikki, thank you. another similar disturbing story, a former fair tax county teacher accused of repeatedly sexual assaulting a teenage boy over a six-year period is also due in court this morning. dennis belyea was arrested last year for assaults which happened between 2004 and 2010. detectives say the victim told family members about the abuse last september. the man worked at both edison high and bailey's elementary. police say there's no indication any children at those schools were abused. two d.c. parents accused of abandoning their children to attend a wine tasting are also due in court. christopher lucas and jenny chang are charged with second degree cruelty to children. police say they found the toddlers alone in a locked car, a cold locked car january 31. some area police recruits will spend the night on a church parking lot to help raise awareness about the homeless. the howard county police project is a fund-raiser billed as a sleepout to end homelessness. it starts at 5:00 p.m. at the united methodist church in ellicott city. it will raise money for grass roots, the only 24-hour crisis center and shelter for the homeless. a new exhibit focusing on herbert l. block opened saturday at the library of congress. it's called pointing their pens. it features 30 editorial cartoons on topics ranging from mccarthyism and the watergate scandal. lawmakers debate a bill which would review standardized testing in maryland public schools. >> educators in fairfax county introduce a new grading scale. here's allyson with the forecast. >> we are looking at a cold start. temperatures near freezing and below for a lot of areas. today not too bad. it's friday, the first day of spring that we are looking a little wintry. i'll have all the that's a hard question. right now. one of the gunmen killed in yesterday's terror attack has been identified. the prime minister says he was known by intelligence officials as head of the attack. a manhunt is under way tracking down possible accomplices after a deadly terrorist attack. gunmen killed 19 people in all including 17 tourists when they opened fire on tour buses and insides the country's national museum. 44 others were hurt. to of the gunmen reportedly died in the attack. again, the search is on for up to three accomplices. meanwhile sweden is reeling from the aftermath of a shooting inside a restaurant. it happened late last night on the west coast of sweden. police say two people are dead and 15 injured. they believe the shooting may be gang red.late no arrests, though, have been made. we're learning more this morning about the man at the center of the shooting rampage across mesa, arizona. 41-year-old ryan giroux is accused of killing one person and injuring five others before he was eventually arrested. he's an exconvict who served three prison sentences since 1994. police believe the shooting spree all started with an argument inside a motel room. today in texas an immigration lawsuit is on the docket in federal court. at issue, a claim that the u.s. government misled a district judge about when president obama's executive action on immigration was implemented. if won it would nullify the president's executive order and spare nearly five million immigrants from deportation. baltimore ravens running back bernard pierce will not be running anymore, at least no for the ravens. the team cut him yesterday hours after he was arrested for dui. pierce is the third raven arrested this off-season. the team quickly cut the other two as well. finally a solar powered airplane on a journey around the world is on to destination number three. it would be the first plane to travel around the world without a single drop of fuel, if completed. keep in mind it is temperatures will drop off pretty fast. winter weather advisories already in place. areas this purple of most concern. we'll see this push on in as early as 3:00, 4:00 in the morning and then turning to rain by about midday. 1 to 2 inches. this is the question area that we will see things accumulate on grassy surfaces. roads should be okay. salt should do a good job. it's the areas in blue that we will see things stack up and through the beltway the roads should just be wet and maybe agent slushy on the sides. for today 53 degrees in leesburg. 56 for fredricksburg. not a bad day at all. all eyes are on tomorrow. no problems and not as windy. more comfortable but more clouds as well. by 1:00 in the morning the rain is approaching along 66. as we head through 4:30 in the morning, here comes the snow in time for your morning rush. look at the temperatures. 39 for d.c. so even though snow will fall it should melt right away. grassy surfaces we should see accumulations. frederick, hagerstown, that's where we should see things accumulate. right down the higher elevations along 81 and the blue ridge, that's where we could see things at up as women. the higher elevation -- as well. the higher the elevation, the move you see snow. by midday and thereafter, just rain. it kicks out of here for your evening commute so faster now with the late e model run. as we head through contracted ebola in west africa. two more workers are back in the u.s. to be monitored for the virus. health officials say these to cases along with 15 others are all linked to the ebola patient being treated at n.i.h. as many as five million americans age 65 and older have alzheimer's disease. mount sinai hospital in new york is testing a new drug aimed at slowing the progression of the disease. it's designed to protect against loss of nerve cells in the brain brain. >> we're hoping it will prevent cognitive decline. it will prevent the disease from progressing and prevent the clinical changes that happen. >> researchers hope to enroll 450 people with mild to moderate alzheimer's disease at about 50 hospitals across the country. if approved this drug would be the first new treatment for alzheimer's in the past decade. it's not over yet. marvin gaye's family has filed an injunction to stop further distribution of the song "blurred lines ." last week a jury ruled that pharrell and robin thicke copied parts of the song "got to give it up." the injunction could give gaye's family leverage to negotiate for royalties. the singer of "blurred lines" is closer to divorce. his wife and without force, public swearing or intoxication. delia goncalves is here with the story. he ended up with a bloody face. >> reporter: that's where the controversy lies. a student getting busted for trying to get into a club with a fake i.d. not a big deal at all. it's what happened during the arrest and what was caught on camera that sparked the outrage and investigation. fellow students captured the arrest by alcohol beverage control officers early wednesday morning. martese johnson was slammed to the ground, his face bloodied. he needed ten stitches in his head. witnesses say the ten-year-old honor student was pleading for mercy and that officers were the aggressors but police say johnson was, quote,age stated and beridge rant. more -- beligerant. more than a thousand students held a vij jill r jill on campus -- held a vigil on campus last night. a teary eyed johnson attended including school leaders. >> this is an outpouring of our community. this is a community where they care about one another and they care about what happened to one of our students in the early hours of this morning. >> i can't imagine a situation that would justify the brutality that this young man has suffered. this is unconscionable and i just feel deeply sorry for him and his family and the rest of the students. >> reporter: martese johnson is an honor student at uva. he spoke out at the rally asking for respect saying, quote, we really are one community. we can tell you the officers involved are off the streets this morning on administrative duty. mike, back to you. >> thank you, delia. some disturbing new figures are out about the number of people killed by police in midmerchandise. the aclu says more than 100 people died at hands of police between 2011 and 2014. the group says nearly 70% of those who died were black. the aclu says there is no formal system for tracking deaths that occur at the hands of police. a dispute between g.o.p. defense hawks and fiscal conservatives is delaying a vote on a g.o.p. budget plan. the fight involves whether to loosen restrictions on using war funding to skirt tight limits on the pentagon budget. there are also some significant differences between the house and senate versions of the plan. president obama says mandatory voting would be in his words transformative. he says it would counteract the influence of money in politics more than anything else. the president floated the idea during an appearance in cleveland. he says the u.s. should be making it easier, not harder to vote. the d.c. police officer is state university student is in jail. he was arrested yesterday in connection with the stabbing at the university which left three football players injured. police say he admitted to swinging a knife two people have been rescued in that situation out there. sky 9 will continue to stay out there and if you're going to be traveling along that fire which is actually taking place on rolling roads, be mindful that south hampton drive is closed as a result of the situation out there. meantime if you're going to be traveling southbound on 270 heading from middle brook road to old georgetown road, you're looking at an 11-minute commute. if you're going to be traveling on 66, no problems for the most part. just congestion starting to build up as he get into or the beltway again from fairfax county parkway to the gw parkway you're looking at a 33- minute commute. if you're traveling on 395 heading north from edsall road down to -- up to 50, you're looking at a 14-minute commute there. for my friends out on the eastern side of the beltway traveling from branch avenue to 295 north, you're looking at an 18-minute commute. back to you. >> thank you, larry. pothole patrol time now. boy, did we find a big involve twos neighboring jurisdictions. >> it's at the westmoreland traffic circle. it's where western avenue, butterworth place, massachusetts avenue and dale collier parkway all intersect. it's nearly impossible to drive this round about without hitting some kind of pothole. and we have requested patch jobs from both rymaland and the district. do you know of a pothole that's driving you crazy?
