police investigating but so far no charges filed against the driver of a tractor-trailer that hit and killed a man this morning. the 22-year-old was killed while walking on i-95 near woodbridge. police say the truck hit the victim while he and two other friends were walking to get help after the car ran out of gas. the other two people were not her. a family of a 29-year-old man shot and killed by dc police speaking out and raising questions about yesterday morning shooting. we go live now where the shooting took place with new information and you have your hands on the police incident report. >> reporter: all of this new information is from dc police and i jotted down the series of events according to them. it shows it was a very complicated situation. they say it sta keys to the home and came back christmas morning and a fight broke out. he started lighting paper towels on fire and turned on the gas on the stove and eventually a knife was pulled up. the person who lives there got help from someone who pulled the knife away and then the second knife was pulled out and he stabbed the resident in the forearm. that's when the police arrived and told him to drop the knife. when he did not, that's when the gun was fired.>> i heard a pop, pop! i thought it was fireworks somewhere. >> reporter: the neighbor describes the moment he heard gunshots this morning on walnut street were police responded to a domestic disturbance. rocky saw the aftermath while walking her dog. >> on the way towards home i saw a bunch of yellow tape around everywhere. >> reporter: it's the talk of the community while they try to piece together what happened. police responded at 11:30 and found this man, gerald hall with a knife. but he refused to drop the weapon they had just because they have body armor on that doesn't mean they can't get hurt. >> reporter: but in an interview off-camera his mother said the police story is wrong and claims her son didn't have a knife when he was shot and she calls for release of the body camera video and neighbors agree. >> i would love to see to know what happened. >> reporter: as for now the officer has been placed on administrative leave and will stay there until the investigation is complete. a neighbor said only body camera will exonerate the officer. >> they have to protect themselves also. we don't know what the case may have been. >> reporter: we did request the body camera video from the police and they say at this point they won't release that to the public. we put in a freedom of information request in and we will keep you informed. wusa9.>> stop police said they did recover a knife at the scene of the body camera video will be reviewed in the investigation. virginia state police investigating a shooting involving a louisa county sheriff's deputy. it happened this morning after he arrived at a car crash and the driver took off running into the woods. the deputy caught up to the driver and as they were talking the 44-year-old male driver charged the deputy. during the struggle, the man was shot once. is that you va hospital in charlottesville in stable condition. despite a cloudy start to the week
