Well see what happens in the next couple weeks. Thank you. He could have spent 24 years in federal prison, but today Linwood Barnhill got seven years in prison for prostituting teens and possession of child porn. Bruce leshan has a look at why. Reporter former d. C. CopLinwood Barnhill pleaded guilty to horrible crimes, prostituting 15, 16, 17year old girls from his southeast apartment and possession of a video of the 17yearold performing oral sex on him, but to save the girls from having to publicly testify against him, prosecutors agreed to a deal that will have him spend just seven years in prison. Thats at least two years less than federal sentencing guidelines. This enables everyone to move forward and enables the witnesses to go forward, mr. Barnhill. He obviously expressed a lot of remorse from the beginning. Reporter both the prosecutor and defense attorney here in federal court told the judge the victims never knew that barnhill was a cop. That weighed into the judges reluctant agreement to accept the plea deal, but one of the victims lawyers is now telling a very different story and threatening to sue the city. The victim that i represent knew and understood him to be a cop. She actually wrote in the rode in a car with him and he pulled a gun from underneath the street and bragged about being a d. C. Police officer. Reporter advocates say what barnhill did is all too common. A d. C. Cop was buying, selling young girls for sex, exploiting them commercially and this is just one instance of many youth being exploited for sex here. Reporter barnhill will have to register as a sex offender and serve 10 years probation when he gets out. Advocates hope its a warning to others who would exploit teens. At d. C. Federal court bruce leshan, wusa9. The u. S. Attorneys office takes strong issue with the claim by the victims lawyer and a spokesman said an extensive investigation yielded no evidence that barn hill acted under the color of the law. The body of the first ebola patient to die in the u. S. Will be cremated all designed to prevent the spread of the virus. Thomas eric duncan died yesterday at a dallas hospital and the ebola test results are negative for a sheriffs deputy who went into the contaminated apartment where duncan stayed. Meanwhile the news is not so good in spain where a nurses aide is now receiving treatment for the deadly virus. Reporter as you know, the patient has asked us to provide information about her Health Condition and clinical situation. Ive only come out to say that her clinical situation has worsened, but i cant give you any more information since that has been the patients wishes. Two american ebola patients are being treated in this country. Tv cameraman ashoka mukpo received a blood transfusion yesterday from dr. Kent brantly who beat ebola last month. And dozens of Airline Cabin cleaners walked off the job at new Yorks Laguardia airport today because of ebola fears. Some major news at 95 driving you crazy, construction of the express lanes on 95 is ahead of schedule to open in december, of course, weather permitting. Surae chinn is along 95 and springfield with more. Reporter its prime rush hour and this is typical for 95. Right now cars are stacking up here, but that image could change in a couple of months. Heres the deal. All the h. O. V. Lanes on 95 will be converted to express lanes which means youll have to pay for it unless you ride it for three if you have three people in the car and a flex pass. Interstate 95 can be brutal. It sucks. Reporter construction is nearing completion on 20 miles of express lanes on 95 from edsel road in alexandria to the Prince William county parkway plus 9 miles of new lanes stretching to Stafford County. The 95 express lanes add 9 miles south from dumfries which is a major choke point. So that will be really helpful down to garrisonville road and Stafford County and an expansion of the h. O. V. Lanes. So if you travel h. O. V. Today, youll really feel this benefit. Reporter the average cost will be 20 to 80 cents a mile. If your trim is 10 miles, awe pay trip is 10 miles, youll pay 2 to eight dollars one way. I guess thats reasonable. If i drove it every day, id seriously consider that to save a lot of time. Im not going to use that. Ill just wait in the traffic. Reporter there will be new and more direct ramps to key locations such as Potomac Mills and fort belvoir exclusive to the express lanes. The other point vdot makes is that people who couldnt drive h. O. V. Before have another option if theyre willing to pay. I guess people are more inclined to carpool then if they have to do at least three. That would cut down on the cars on the highway. So i guess more people in express lanes and less people on the rest of the freeway, it would probably help in the long run. This is a major change to the existing h. O. V. System and there are new rules of the road, new signs, new requirements you need the e zpass. So its really important as exciting as it is that people take some time to get ready for the 95 express lanes when they open in december. Reporter the only way to ride and drive on the h. O. V. Lanes now the express lanes will be to have an ezpass and if you want to ride free, you have the ezpass flex and you just turn it on. You hear that beep. That means you can ride for free as long as you have three people in the car. You can always get more information on www. Wusa9. Com. Well remind you for the next few weeks. Back to you.
