Habul kibler believes you should be interested in the faith even though the group is based thousands of miles away. Its the idea of humanity. The whole world should rise, the united nations, usa because we are talking about thousands, hundreds of peoples lives. People are dying. Reporter islamic radicals have targeted for slaughter the izitis who they say are devil worshipers because izitis believe the devil repented of sin and was restored to an angel. The izitis are grateful for the American Intervention but believe the u. S. And iraq need a long range plan if it can end the genocide. We need protection. We need to find a way to be protected from the way of the radicals. Got to be a plan with coordination between the u. S. Government and iraq and kurdish, got to be a plan how to do this because people dont feel safe. Jim osmond is here right now. My big question to you earlier is how do you even pronounce the word iziti . You said how you spell it is the big question. Ezidi is the correct spelling, but apparently arabs say yazidi, so if you google that name online, youll find the very spellings, but ezidi is the correct word and as far as the meaning of the word, it means god or god believers. Its very simple and obviously at a time like this when theyre trying to get through this difficult situation, theyre relying on their faith and prayer to get through this. One of the folks you saw in my piece today said theyre hoping its not another rwanda. The u. S. Trying to prevent exactly that. Well have much more on the crisis in iraq at 6 00. Well hear fromthe incoming class at the Naval Academy in annapolis, plus a desert storm veteran weighs in on todays airstrikes and at 5 15 ill talk to face the nation host bob schieffer. We turn our attention now to breaking news, a 13yearold boy on an outing with a Silver Spring camp group drowned this afternoon. It happened in a lake at oregon ridge in cockeysville, maryland. The boy was part of camp sunshine. Witnesses say he went under in an area where swimming is permitted. Tragically it was his 13th birthday. The storm once known as hurricane iselle weakened to a Tropical Storm. Iselle hit hawaiis big island early this morning. No deaths or major injuries are reported and so far the extent of damage across the big island has been limited to downed trees and roof damage. Meantime hurricane julio has been downgraded to a category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 105 miles per hour. Joining us now with more on these tropical systems is first alert chief meteorologist er shutt. Good news. Julio will pass north of the islands and miss them in terms of rainfall and high winds. Now a category 2, winds 105 miles per hour. It will weaken to a category 1. All these are local times, pacific times. We get into saturday, 8 00 in the evening, it is still well to the north of the big island and it continues to move essentially away and parallel to the island. So by 8 00 sunday its pretty much history, still a category 1 storm as it begins to pull away from honolulu and move out to the north. Well put the wind fields in. You can see the wind fields pass well to the north and east of the island. So the red there is the Hurricane Force winds and the yellow is the Tropical Storm force winds, no problems unlike iselle which gave almost Hurricane Force wind overnight. This will past well to the north of both the islands. In terms of that theyre in good shape. Were quiet now. Well come back, talk about the weekend, kind of a complicated forecast. Well tell you when you can do some stuff outside. Now back to the mcdonnells corruption trial today. We have heard a lot from Jonnie Williams, ceo of Star Scientific who gave the former governor and his wife 165 grand in loans and gifts. Today another star executive took the stand and denies having knowledge of all those gifts. Reporter thats right. In fact, he says when jonnie first told him what hed done when investigators questioned him, he said he was breathless and asked jonnie how could you do this . Erido is a former paul perido is a former federal prosecutor. He was ceo when Jonnie Williams was lavishing the mcdonnells with gifts. Perido said he had absolutely no knowledge whatsoever of that activity. Reporter did you really not know about all those gifts . He did. He said everything he had to say in the courtroom. Dont you think that was quite enough . Thank you very much. Reporter but first he said he was wary of williams relationship with the Virginia Governor and his wife concerned about the political ramifications of his company not being taken seriously, but he said he grew to accept the governors support hoping it would give his product annatto block credibility and influence the Virginia Tobacco commission to fund a study. Former Virginia Attorney general gary kilgore was hired to pursue those tobacco grants. Perido testified today he did not know kilgores brother terry is chair of the Virginia Tobacco commission. Also today the governors deputy chief of staff matt conrad testified he had heard there were piles of gifts in the first ladys closet. My experience with the governor is hes a fine man who did a lot of good for virginia. Reporter conrad said the governor asked him the definition of a friend. In filing close closure forms and conrad said he told him anyone who was a friend before you ran for office. In richmond peggy fox, wusa9. As we speak the mcdonnells stock broker is testifying. At 6 00 peggy will tell us what he said about the mcdonnells trying to avoid reporting the Star Scientific stocks they owned, but joining us right now with more insight into the trial, white collar criminal defense attorney mark samuel. The executive in question basically said i had no idea what was going on, but if i had known, id have stopped it. Does that suggest the prosecution was trying to make the point there was some nefarious dealings here . Doesnt sound like a good fact for the governor. If you had a situation that said i would have stopped it, what youre implying to the jury is this wasnt right. Probably they started off with his credential as a lawyer and prosecutor and they it argue in closing people who knew wouldnt have done this. Of course, the defense attorney once again tried to shift it back around to saying yeah, this was all maureen mcdonnell. I think thats the defense. Theyve got two parts. One is he didnt do anything in his official capacity and probably the first part actually is he didnt do it. It was all maureen. Later on will have the story of the mcdonnells stock broker, but we can talk about what he testified to because he makes the case for the prosecution the mcdonnells were trying to hide the purchase of thousands of shares of Star Scientific stock and, of course, once again the idea being if youre trying to hide it, it must have been wrong. Theres a thing in the law called consciousness of guilt and i think this is one of the worst things so far in the trial. Its not good. My understanding is the stock broker said they were both on the phone call and if theyre both having those discussions and both trying to hide something, that certainly undercuts the defense the governor didnt know what was going on. One person is saying the first lady is hiding gifts and doing things and you can say the governor didnt know, but if hes on the phone with the stock broker trying to get stuff off disclosure forms and that little blip we just heard there where he said define a friend, those arent good facts. In recent days you could see the momentum on the mcdonnells side and you could see it in his face. Did things turn around on him a bit today . Trials are like basketball games. Its all sort of runs. The government will have a run and things go well. The defense get a couple witnesses, things go well. Remember the government is only on offense now. The defense hasnt had a chance to call a witness or put in evidence. This is everything the government has. We await the testimony of governor mcdonnell himself. That may all turn on whether or not they believe him and compare what he says to what Jonnie Williams said as far as what he was doing and contrast those two things in closing. My guess is thats where its going to come down. Is that thank you for your time, sir. Thank you for your time, sir. There was a move forward today in an intense Murder Investigation in Anne Arundel County, maryland, where police fear a killer caught on video could strike again. One hit hamas and killed a 10 yearold boy. More on the developing situation in rack. The u. S. Launched additional airstrikes on isis targets in iraq, part of an effort to avoid the genocide of religious minorities. Joining us now with more on the crisis in iraq is face the nation host bob schieffer. Good evening. These airstrikes today mark the deepest u. S. Engagement in the country since the troop withdrawal in late 2011, but the president said no Ground Combat troops, so will these airstrikes be enough . This isis organization is incredibly dangerous . Well find out about that, but the fact is whether you want to debate how we got from there to here about the situation in iraq right now, i think the president really had no choice. Among other things in addition to those people stranded up on that mountain, the iraqis up there, there are several hundred, maybe as many as 1,000, americans in the u. S. Embassy. Theres a consulate up there in that kurdish region capital. So he has got to take care of those people and make sure that theyre not, you know, under attack because they do not have the firepower and the kurds do not have the firepower to turn back these isis people. This is a really dangerous situation and he talks about limited airstrikes. I think the fact of the matter is the more people i talk to about this, i think were going to be in there a while because this isis group is going to continue to pose a threat. This is a direct threat to the United States and its security. Its a threat to us back here in the states because these people can send agents back and they do not wish us well. So this is going to be going on a while and i think most people are saying we may not agree with the policy of whats happened so far and what got to us where we are, but he problem had no choice but to do this. He got support from both sides of the aisle from lawmakers in the house and senate. Thanks so much, bob. You bet. Well be checking you out on face the nation. The death of james brady, president Ronald Reagans press secretary, was wounded in the attempt on reagans life back in march of 1981 is now listed as a homicide. The District Of Columbia medical examiner released that ruling moments ago. The report says bradys death is the result of injuries he suffered on that fateful day 33 years ago now. That now means gunman John Hinckley jr. Could be charged with bradys murder in federal court.
