A 15yearold male was stabbed on the sidewalk right here outside. He was stabbed in the arm. Hes going to be okay, but it was some kind of altercation that was happening earlier. Theyre not sure what. An altercation with several people, ending with a 15year old male stabbed in the arm. He was conscious, he was breathing, he was taken to the hospital. She going to be okay. Live on the scene, there are some Police Officers behind me. They still have some crime tape up. Still looking for evidence. At this point, metro says the red line was not affected. They did close the entrance to this metro for a little bit, but its open now. More breaking news in temple hills where police are investigating a homicide in the 5,600 block of linda lane. Police were called to that area around 9 30. No word yet on who the victim is. A 21yearold transgender was shot in the head and killed last night. Detectives continue to investigate the crime shocking relatives and residents alike. Still tonight, no arrests. There is a lot of emotion in this case. So many questions. Lets get live. Reporter were in the back alley that separates the two shopping centers. This is where that 21yearold was gunned down last night. You see the makeshift memorial here over my shoulder. That is to remember and honor this transgender woman. Its unclear if the fact she was transgender played a role in this murder, and we wont get any clarity until an arrest is made. Reporter z ela was on her way to lay flowers on her grandmothers grave. It was also the anniversary of our grandmother passing away. Reporter instead she lost her life, gunned down, cutting through an alley. [ crying ] they didnt have to kill her. Reporter born deandre smith, she was a 21yearold transgender woman. In the process of transitioning. He didnt deserve to be killed like this. No matter what his lifestyle was. Do you think thats what it was about . I dont know. [ crying ] reporter Montgomery County detectives do not believe the shooting was random. Witnesses say they heard a group of men arguing in the alley just before four or 5 gunshots were fired. They saw several men running from the scene. Police say the murder may have been based on appearances, referring to her gender. At night, you will get people you have people getting jumped, you have people get robbed, you have people get in fights. Reporter whatever happened, zionas family says it couldnt have happened to a happier person. He always made us laugh, no matter what the situation was. He had this infectious smile. [ crying ] just beautiful, beautiful spirit. Reporter there were several witnesses to the shooting. There was one person who was actually with ziona at the time. That person was shot at but not injured. And detectives will be relying heavily on these witnesses to develop a suspect. Tonight authorities need your help. Information tonight in the case of a man found dead after disappearing from a picnic at his assisted living home. New information suggests the facility knew the 80year old man needed constant oneon one supervision, but a worker left him alone and wandered off. He was found dead just this past sunday. Reporter that was grieving daughter Michelle Phipps earlier when her fathers body was found. Neglect, insufficient staffing, and abuse are the disturbing findings by marylands office of healthcare quality. They say it was september 18th when widmoore house assisted living took luben and others up to a park. Even though they knew he had dementia, an Operations Manager left him for ten minutes, failing to constantly supervise him as noted in his care plan. He wandered off. His body, found weeks later. This report also says even though the center called 911, they failed to report mr. Phipps disappearance to the office of healthcare quality immediately. Instead taking three days. We contacted we care adult services. They did not get back to us in time for this report. Police are investigating, and the family lawyer is asking for a criminal investigation. Biinvestigators say the bullet that killed anthony was fired from a. 38caliber handgun, and that didnt match the gun next to his body. And they found incriminating messages. Testimony wrapped up in the trial of charl severance. Prosecutors showed video of a woman who resembled one of the people hes accused of killing, nancy dunning, leaving a target store. And behind her they say is the severance. Defense attorneys are expected to begin next week.
