Unknown details as to how 26 yearold brendon rabain crashed his police vehicle. We have the story including an interview with county executive baker. Police say officer brendon rabain was off duty and decided to make a traffic stop. Police confirmed that there was a woman inside the car with the officer. We dont know the relationship. A witness says that the woman told her she was the officers fiance. She may be the only one to tell us what exactly happened before the crash. Police have not been able to talk to her because she is in the hospital sedated for extreme Emotional Distress. We know that Prince Georges county has suffered an incredible loss. Well, he was a good father to his daughter. Thats all i can say right now. I cant really express myself. Childhood friends of officer Brennan Rabain stopped by the scene where the Prince Georges county officer lost his life in the line of duty. Police say that he was attempting a traffic stop in the 9500 block road where he lost control and ran into a fence. All of a sudden, there was like an explosion in my family room and i said oh, my god something is going on. We saw a police car and policeman is sitting where he was. And thats all i seen. It is from this witness we find out that there was a woman in the car with officer rabain. There was a lady inside the car. Got him out and was crying. Police confirmed what the witness already knew. Prince georges county police say having a passenger ins cruiser is not necessarily a policy violation while off duty. But what is unclear is if it was a violation as soon as he turned his lights and sirens on to conduct the traffic stop and became on duty. Amazing for us to get all of the information and the main thing right now is to wrap our arms around the family and to give them as much counseling as possible and to let them know how much we care about them and there will be an investigation to see what the policies, whether there was any indication of violation of policy. Police chief mark mcgall ordered officers to wear a black band over their badges in mourning of the 26yearold officer and father of a 3 year old girl. It is devastating for us. And to lose a young officer at a young age that loved what he was doing, it is just devastating. Officer rabain was assigned to the district 5 station in clinton. He had less than two years with the department. And police are trying to locate the vehicle officer rabain was initially trying to stop and officers are looking for the in car camera but looking at the incar camera to see if any details couple of that. And asking police why they didnt bring out about the information about the woman being in the car and they say they were trying to figure out who the woman was and she was not injured seriously, is that correct . No, she had minor injuries but extreme Emotional Distress and sedated and police are waiting to talk to her and hopefully we will find out more. And we cant say it enough times. He was okay and having somebody in the car and the moment that he chose to engage in. It cost him his life. Investigators are officers will look into that policy a little bit deeper. Police say the man assaulted the officer as craigwell reports the officer is on administrative leave pending the results of the state investigation. Black lives matter. A few dozen protestors demonstrated in Madison Wisconsin after a Police Officer shot and killed a 19 yearold black man. What do we want . Justice. When do we want it . Now. I am hurt and frustrated. The officer that shot robinson was involved in another shooting in 2007 but was cleared of wrongdoing. Now on administrative leave pipping a state investigation.
