They were wondering what was going on, even after we talked to the New Castle County police department, we really didnt get too many answers. What theyre telling us at this point in time is that, yesterday, it was around 2 00 in the afternoon, they tried to pull a vehicle over. The driver of that vehicle did not stop in the area of philadelphia pike and washington street. Instead the driver crashed his car at the intersection, exited the vehicle and ran off. Police caught up with the suspect and confronted him. Then shot and killed him. Again this happened around 2 00 in the afternoon near saint Helena Roman Catholic church. Skyfox was over both of those scenes yesterday. People who live nearby confirm that theyre typically quiet neighborhood turned chaotic yesterday. And again, there is still not totally sure what happened. I heard what i assume was the actual killing of the suspect. Because that was the only gunfire that happened. It was isolated. It was, you know, it was brief. And i assumed that thats what happened. And at that point, you know, the whole intersection just shutdown in a matter of, you know, less than a minute. New Castle County Police say some of the officers were taken to local hospitalization to get checked out. It is unclear if any of the injuries were serious, as result of the confrontation with that suspect. Again, who is the suspect . Was he armed . What led up to that initial vehicle stop, we still dont have those answers. We are hoping to learn more from the New Castle County police department. Mike and alex . Yes. Still no official words on any arrest after a woman was beaten and left for dead outside a south Philadelphia High School earlier this month. Police found 33 year old lauren unconscious and bleeding from the head. She was in the hospital on life support for a week before anyone even new who she was. The medical Examiners Office has ruled her death a homicide. And said the cause was blunt force trauma. All right. Two people returned to the hospital after being assaulted near Temple University. It happened just after 2 00 this morning, at broad and allegheny. Police say one man was stabbed. The other was injured during this incident. The stabbing victim was taken to Temple University hospital for treatment. No word as to what led up to the assault. Police in philadelphia are investigating an overnight shooting in lawncrest. It happened just after midnight. On the 5500 block of hill creek court. Another victim, 29 year old man, was shot in the leg. He was taken to einstein medical center. No word on his condition, or if any arrest haves been made. Fire in the city talcony section, lands two people in the hospital. But they found an alligator in the home. What a surprise. You are his attorney, how do you save this life . What do you have do in these situations is call Family Members to say he was good man, something happened to him. I think they are calling two different psychologists or psychiatrists, what are called mitigating factors, things that take away from the terrible cruelty of this case. So thats the defenses job. The prosecutors job, to say there are aggravating factors, things like this worse, like it was police officers, like it was terrorism. The defense has really difficult case here. Really difficult. Right. Most, you know, a lot of capitol murder cases where it is kind of ifee. This one, i mean, aggravating factors are so great, and the mitigating factors, theyll have to have some wonderful, amazing thing from the family or from psychologists to make this. But what could a Family Member say to over turn that . The burden send a little different. The numbers, you have to have more aggravating than mitigatingment maybe something, and remember, though, one person feels something for this defendant. Thats true. Thats enough. Our justice system, we sometimes forget this, the burdens end is very high to convict. We will talk about that in a minute with Aaron Hernandez, but the burden err very high for capitol punish because that far there is a chance that he wont get death. There may be one person on that jury who just cant finds it within themselves. Little bit of empathy. Ya. Right. All it takes is that one. Thats right. You mentioned Aaron Hernandez, lets talk about that. A lot of people were shocked yesterday when we had the breaking news that he died in a apparent suicide in his cell found 3 00 in the hospital, died in the hospital an hour later. Now so many people are wondering, and it has come out, one whether he actually died by suicide, or with it was murder. Then also, they are saying he was innocent man now. Because he died. Thats a technicality, right . Hes not an innocent man. And he isnt innocent because he was not convicted in the last case t just means the prosecution didnt proof that case. It doesnt mean that hes innocent. But, more importantly, when you are talking about the first case, he was convicted but in massachusetts they have this rule, if you die before the appeal is done, the case gets vacated so it is as if sort of he was arrested but never went to trial. Now innocent until proof he end guilt. I this is where he was acquitted of the driveby shooting of two men in the night club. Thats right. Okay. But hes in jail. He was in jail for the rest of his life. Right. For killing owed end lloyd. Owed end lloyd, thats right. So his he was appealing, sitting in his jail cell, waiting for the case to appeal. Will they even have a trial . That appeal will ends. His family there are so many legal issues here, mike, the families of owed end lloyd, and of the victims, two men who died, and there were men who were injured in this last trial the night club. Yes. They are all suing him, were suing him, for civil, for money, for wrongful death. Those cases dont just go away. What normally happens is the executor of the estate, the person who now takes over any money he has left, that executor, executor will be sued. That case will still go forward. But then the question becomes if you were going to use as evidence in your case for money, the conviction, does your case get weeker . Would they be able to use that . If that technicality in the Massachusetts Law hey do you have throw it out now . Probably wont be able to use t then another legal issue. What happens to his pension and his bonus . If it was taken away, because of his conviction, does he or his estate or sheana jenkins, his fiancee, his daughter, get that mine. If they do is that money thats available to the people who are suing him for money. A lot to work out k we also talk about it yesterday . Jose by ass, one of his attorneys, came out saying hey, i dont think that this was suicide. I know this current state of mind that he was in, and he believes that it was murder.
