Doctors say the baby passed away from a rare case of strep throat. So 22year old mikayla, posted pictures on her instagram and blog, daily won. She gave birth march 26th but 3 days later her son fox, passed away, from a rare infection. Doctors say he died of Group B Strep but it was only detect once he was born. He was placed on life support but condition was too over powering and the baby died. Now the couple, is, which is mikayla and her fiance. Doctor oz, i think it was thursday and friday we did stories about strep throat a lot going none philadelphia. People losing limbs. It is a bacteria that is very common. We all have strep in our gut. But this little baby died from is in the strep threat but group b that most women should know b because they have to be screened prior to delivery to make sure they dont have it. Reason is this exact reason, baby whose immune system is not mature and exposed to this Group B Strep and it gets in their brain it is devastating. Baby didnt have it in the uterus as the went through birth can allotopic it up. Woman do not realize this. Around 35, 37 weeks of pregnancy, two weeks before delivery is there a suave, placed, in the vaginal area to make sure you dont have Group B Strep. It is not like you have a bad infection. Because it is in your bowl it passes up in your vagina we check at very last moment possible because sometimes you have it, you wont have it. We have to decide, do we give you antibiotics or not. This young woman appropriately was tested at 37 weeks. She tested negative. Somehow between that test which is 95, 98 percent effective she got Group B Strep back in her vaginal area before it went through and they didnt treat her and, you know, im so proud of this young woman. She posted this woman with the beautiful pregnancy. She wants to say in the all women get tested. Out there listening to this show we can save your life and your child. You could miss it. Same result could happen to you. It is interesting what you mentioned, she wrote about her experience in great detail. She said about that test, the swabs are known to be inconsistent one week test positive and negative. Your body that is changing in the swabs.
