the suburbs which are covered under another contract and we will get into that in just a second but we are taking you questions. alex you had one on twit fur you purchased a transpass for the buses, can that be used for the regional rails. survey says, yes, at all train stations in the city you can use that bus pass except for the forest hill and somerton station. now as far as a refund, credit we are going to get into all that after the strike is over. let's bring in from septa headquarters heather redfern on the phone with us. good morning. >> good morning. >> lets get to it. what is not running today this morning with the strike. >> anything in the city of philadelphia is not running, so all of our buses, market frankford line, broad street line and trolleys, ten, 11, 13, 15, 34, and 36. >> mike brought up an interesting question. what is with the number 90 high/low number here. >> that is for our suburban bus routes. anything from 90 up, those are suburban, those are running but they will drop you, drop passengers off before they get to the city. where those, for those buses affected, the new drop off, the drop off point are listed on our web site. >> suburban bus routes are 90 or above. they are running but they will in the cross the city line and bring you in the city. >> yes. >> okay, cool. now back to the maps here for a second here, tell me what is running this morning. >> cct is running. so if anybody had an appointment on regular cct service just to get that out there you will get picked up. lucy in the university city is running for anybody going out that way. the the suburban bus routes norristown high speed line and 101, 102 trolleys, big thing, around the city is regional rail and that is operating this morning. >> we have talk about refund, credits, what have you, we will address that all after this is all said and done is that correct. >> correct. >> what is word down there from behind the doors at septa headquarters, what dawn tell us. >> negotiations stopped last night and i don't have any other further information at this point. >> there is nobody behind the talk talking, in talks at the moment right now there were no talks overnight. i don't know if they have resumed yet. >> heather redfern we will check back throughout the morning. we can come back again. parking options a flat rate have of ten dollars for ten hours at select ppa garages. we have put the list up on facebook, twitter, instagram, whole 9-yard. also go to fox 29.com for those parking garages and they will fill up fast. we are seeing delays on i-95 from the northeast in the city steady crawl from the schuylkill in. ninety-five from the airport this center city, accident east on 422 right here near oaks interchange and we are line up here on the vine street expressway. certainly seeing that heavier presence on the roads, and lets go downtown to septa headquarters where steve is out front all morning long, steve, over to you. >> reporter: lets go tour last question. this shows they are not agreeing on anything. the you know why? willie brown says they were going to keep negotiating last night, reporters asking that specifically because you they said if you are willing to keep negotiating and after midnight why aren't your drivers. he said we have to draw a line in the sand somewhere. again septa says they are not negotiating at last talk with reporters. they are only ones that talked to us after midnight time. we're negotiating. so they cannot even agree on that. how long do these strikes last? well, willie brown says no idea but you we can tell you from screens since this show started in 96, we had our first septa strike in 98 with "good day philadelphia". that lasted 40 days. sound like a movie title. two most recent ones, 05, 09, six and seven days. you can gauge what to expect maybe from that. no end in sight. the first day is worst day. here's willie brown just past midnight, updating us. we have agreed upon minor things. we have been working on this for two years. we have conceded. we have been working on this for two years. thing that gets me most when you consider pensions when you asked about pensions. we are not being greedy. i think septa slapped the riding public in the face and taxpayers in the face when they told you they would do pension reform. what they did was line their pockets. we found money said here is money. how do you do pension reform but yet, you give yourself $500 a month up to a you this dollars a month increase. that is thiefry. >> i think it is crazy, and i think it is nuts because people, we all use the septa system. 800 i believe, i seen on the news earlier almost a million people air expected in it. i really think they need to come back on and resume services because this is crazy. i don't understand why they always need to go on strike because this effect as lot of people that need to travel to work, doctor offices, and they need to go to schools, et cetera. >> i work every day. i work two jobs. i don't know how to get to work tomorrow. it effects everybody out paying bills. >> reporter: a woman i spoke to said this is ten, that is right, ten strikes just since 1975, for septa. seventy-five, for people my age, it doesn't sound like that was too long ago. we have pickets, bond fires here at mid veil and wissohickon avenue and bond fires and work picket out where karen hepp is. great that you are on the story because you are an expert on something and that is the shoe change that women do, running shoes, to work, the heels at work and then maybe ensue serio going to a third slippers behind the desk. but you might want to give advice on female shoe fashion during a septa strike because fashion goes out window it is all about comfort, karen. >> people will be walking. you are right. even men will be doing it a lot of people will be biking as well. bicycle coalition has been putting out information, suggesting that people do it and there will be 20 or 30,000 people if they live close enough that is a great option to get in and avoid traffic because we will have grid lock. they have nice bike lanes. thinks eat thorpe us bus depot right here jammed packed full of buses not moving anywhere. over here interesting to go see this is where the trolley lines will go right in. this is where trolley cars are park over here and then, of course, we have a dozen people on strike. steve talk about the issue. pension reform. septa is saying we are offering raises and more job security, but this can be a a real bear because they are trying to get kids into school, to go to publish schools, it is all safe for archdiocese schools are off but rest of the public schools, they have to if the those kids in. it is hard on parents and hard for people to get in. so the workers are saying, look, we know this can basically paralyze the city. if you are a working kind of person and i talked to a trolley operator. he have is a gary mason. he is in a cast. he said bear with us. these are important issues for all of us. here's what he had to say. >> well, for one thing, they should understand especially if they work every day, and we have rules and guidelines that we have to go by,. >> we have to stand and unite for what we believe in and what we need to stand for. that is what we have to do. >> that is what they are doing. they are picketing. they are sitting around there with the the big fire there. the whole city now has to figure out how to come to grips and deal with this. like mayor kenney said we are all in this together. lets car pool, flex time and still operate our city even though our mass transit system is shut down. mike and alex, back inside to you. >> all right, karen, word of the day is, ugh. >> a lot of people are so frustrating. we are getting lots of tweets. one guy said he is personal uber driver today because he is trying to car pool everybody around. >> his family and friend. >> yes. >> let us know how you get to school or work today. hit us up on twitter. we are going to get back out to this, because here we go again, bill cosby back in the courtroom. this is another key hearing in the this sexual assault case. >> his defense team argues that bill cosby, hoist now 79 years old, is now blind and therefore unfit to stand trial. >> um-hmm. lauren is on the case in montgomery county, lauren. >> reporter: you are right, his lawyer says he won't even be able to identify the accusers if they are asked to come here to the hearing that is scheduled for today and could last through tomorrow. lots of lawyers on both side, it will be here. but this is latest attempt to clearing his name. judge o'neill will hear a few specific arguments in the case, first whether a deposition by cosby admit to go using drugs to give women for sex can be used at his trial. another key issue is whether prosecutors can bring up cosby's prior bad acts against a dozen other women. the cosby, who is expected to go to trial, in june 2017 is facing three sex assault charges facing a even counter with temple university employee andrea constand. she said cosby drugged, assaulted her inside his montgomery county home. her story sound similar to that of nearly five toss even other women who have come forward, since then, saying cosby did the same thing to them. prosecution will argue in favor of the allowing the testify there these women saying cosby has a pattern to do with this. lots of legal experts say the case will not get thrown out but we will learn today or tomorrow what evidence will be allowed in this case, when it is tried, next summer, mike and alex. >> all right. we will be there, the minute you see bill cosby. 7:11. one week to go, week from the election day donald trump's retargeting states where hillary clinton had a edge, a couple weeks ago including the state of of pennsylvania. we combo from plea to light blue over the last 24 hours? he will be in valley forge this morning for a rally at double tree hotel, by hilton. in king of prussia. that event begins at 11:00 this morning. >> surprises just keep coming is there a talk of the constitutional crisis and discovery of new hillary clinton insider e-mails has put president obama in a tough spot. >> yeah, doug luzader report on all this in about two and a half minutes, go. >> reporter: it is like good morning, look at president's aggressive campaign schedule in the days ahead. that tells you what states are really, really going to matter, as we get closer to election day here. meantime he is trying to strike a balancing act. he wants to support hillary clinton to be his successor but doesn't want to under mind this renewed investigation, fbi investigation in, to clinton's e-mail arrangement. light moments on hillary clinton's campaign plane last night as they celebrate halloween but there is a scary day ahead for clinton and donald trump. for trump still uphill battle involving three states. >> he need florida, ohio, north carolina to come his way. that puts him in the game. the losing think of those three and it is long road. >> reporter: take a look at president owe bam's campaign schedule this week, florida, ohio and north carolina hoping to block trump. >> there is no case here. >> reporter: don't second much to join democratic pile on of fbi director james comey who said fbi uncovered a new trove of clinton insider e-mails. >> the president believe trek or comey is a man of integrity, man of principal and he is a man of good character. >> reporter: trump argues clinton if she wins could be prosecuted over her classified e-mails. >> her election would meyer our government and our country in a constitutional crisis that we cannot afford. >> reporter: truth about the only legal option republicans would have at that point would be impeachment. democrats, meanwhile, say fbi is investigating the trump campaign paul manafort ties to russia and director comey has a double standard. >> surrounding democratic party chair donna brazil, more evidence that while serving as cnn contributor, during the primary she actually fed debate questions to the clinton campaign to help edge out rival bernie sanders. cnn has now cut ties with her. both candidates are really moving in this final week with little added confidence. trump campaign thinking a state like pennsylvania, for instance hey be warming to trump. we will see. the clinton campaign very confident and optimistic in the final days. new york post report ago this they have even book a fire works show a celebration tire works show for new york city, on election night. >> some might say don't get ahead of yourself but you have to plan. >> either way both candidates have ties to new york. >> well, true, i dent think she should be buying fire work yet. bobbies the star of the show today. >> giving us details on the septa strike. >> wish i could get a bus and take everybody to work. regional rails now, operating with across the board 30 minute delays and already overcrowding. if you remember back from the 09 strike the concern was folks standing up to the edge of the platform as these lath forms started to get real crowded. if you you try to uber or lyft systems as an option today, go to their twitter pages. we have put links on our page, don't pay attention to a lot of the false savings #coupons that are out there go to the official pages for uber and lyft and follow the coupon code. they all have coupon codes. lyft is 50 bucks off your first ten rides which equals five dollars a ride over the course of the next week or so. what is not running today, none of the city bus, trolley services. there is no market frankford line, in broad street subway. we have 30 minute delays. mike and write talking a few moment ago regional rails will get you through suburbs through 30th street station. the airport regional rail line is running. so here's an option take airport line, take it to the airport, grab a snack, catch a cab brings you back into center city. we have to think outside becomes here as this is all taking place, you know, first tim this morning. suburban buses and trolley routes, they are operating because they are on a separate contract, outside of the city. so the paratransit, systems they are running, and the lucy loop is running as well. but expect delays because of all of those systems that are running those buses and trolleys in the suburbs are going to be stuck in the same traffic jams as everybody else. sueby back over to you. >> of all of the problems you just described one thing that will not give you a problem this morning is the weather, everything is tranquil, calm, and we hardly have a cloud in the sky. that is why it got so chilly overnight. as we look ahead in our fox future cast we will see lots of sunshine today, lots tomorrow, a few clouds here and there but it is thursday, that is the day you have to plan on afternoon rain. that is how computer models are giving it right now. maybe after three or 4:00 in the the afternoon and maybe some thunderstorm and with a cold front coming through things will get chillier after thursday. right now it is chilly below freezing and in the 20's in mount pocono. below freezing in allentown, pottstown, 42 in the city. thirty-eight in wildwood. wind are not as high as yesterday. 52 degrees today, just ideal. seventy-three tomorrow and 77 on thursday before that rain comes in. then we're child gannon friday with the temperature in the 50's, saturday, it will be a high of 61. remember, saturday night into sunday, that we change the time, we will fall back, we will get an extra hour of sleep but remember, mike and alex, by sunday it will get dark really early. >> really early. >> 7:17. well, let me hold up the metro here. >> pretty good head line here. hey, hey doug, coach doug, we have a few questions, yeah, we have a few questions for you. >> accusations. >> yes, doug pederson answering tough questions about his play call there sunday night especially one late in the game. >> in the fourth quarter eagles were in a position to kick a field goal and take a two possession lead. he calls a screen that gets blown up and takes them out of field goal range. >> so paul always has his score card, his grade car every tuesday morning after the press conference and i don't see any a's on that report card and he asked questions five reasons eagles lose to the cowboys. and they are. >> ready, okay. >> the fumble. >> see dak run. the pass defense. the curious call, wonder which one that was. and the fake punt. >> so lets go back to the curious call, question and reasons number four.. >> why? >> turf coach this play better. we make that play we are inside the 20-yard line. when you look at it on film we are inside 20 with the first and ten or if anything it works. it is a fourth down and you're kicking the field goal from close inner then what happened. >> but if you really trust your defense you could kick the field goal and if you don't make it, keep them from scoring there mid field. >> kick a even longer one by a yard at the end of the first half. >> that is what being a coach is all about, pressure. >> big story, that they didn't include there was dropped passes. maybe we need a new wide receiver. >> people have been saying that. could that wide receiver be with the 49ers now. >> torey smith, bless you alex, go for it. the nfl trade deadline is this afternoon, man at 4:00 o'clock and there are rumors we may get this guy, torey smith of the 49ers. as he showed right there in that clip he can catch a wide open pass. so we will keep an eye on it. check out fox 29.com throughout the afternoon because 4:00 o'clock again is the deadline. >> and howie roseman, 3:30, 3:58, 59. >> yeah, latest trade. >> remember, torey married a plymouth white marsh high school graduate. >> her name was sheneille. >> that was a while back. the she's not in high school month. >> but they are still together and maybe she wants to come home and be next to her family. >> coming back to thanksgiving. >> that is true. >> we're playing on new years day good that is right. >> 1 gallon 2 gallons. 3 gallons. and up, and up, and up. it goes into effect, it is in effect right now, 23 cents per gallon extra on every gallon, do you need to see this again. >> go. >> i can't do it on demand. >> pressure. >> look up in the light that stops me from sneezing. >> you are just trying to make me go blind. >> no, no. >> stop. >> everybody forking me. >> everybody scare her right new you so she can't sneeze. >> twenty-three cents per gallon, in new jersey now, yes, it is in effect right the new so how can you save some money. come across the state line? that toss than the work anymore. >> talk to dan good dan, are you here. >> yes. >> he is here. >> talking gas. >> he has a gas can nice can. when government bureaucrats refused to approve a cancer vaccine equally for both girls and boys, i stepped in to change that rule. when my own party held up recovery funds after sandy hit us, i took them on and won. and when veterans were forced to travel out of state for health care, i brought in new local clinics and expanded services. but there's much more to do. my mission is to protect south jersey's way of life. i'm frank lobiondo and i approve this message. i'm franat a neighborhoods a restaurafavorite - a place for a good, family meal. she juggled customers, cooks, waitresses - and never complained. my dad was a police officer walking his beat. i learned from both what it means to be honest, to work hard, and love family. big banks, wall street, special interests - that's who pat toomey's with. in the senate, i'll work for you and your family. i'm katie mcginty, and i approve this message. dan is here on fox. our financial expert on fox. >> how about gas. >> how about that it. the new jersey went in effect at midnight. let's take a look ate. >> moorestown new jersey there is a fast station, 1.98. last night same gas station this morning on the way in, michael. >> same sign. >> 2:21, 23 cents gas tax has kicked in in case you slept through it. >> so new jersey has gone from, some of the cheapest, gasoline, to the eighth highest. >> here's the deal, we suffer high property, high income taxes, high rot tax but we took relief in our low gas tax until last night. >> so new jersey is 2.27 on average. >> yes. >> we went from 14 and a half cents gas tax to a 37 and a half cents gas tax and that is why we have average 2.27 a gallon. >> so, if i live in your town, moorestown or someplace close to pennsylvania, i usually just drive across the bridge, go to pennsylvania and then go home. >> your driver would go drive across the bridge. >> of course. >> but now, after you factor in the bridge toll all you pennsylvania drivers, philly drivers that came over for relief, it height not be worth it the right now. >> doesn't work anymore, mike. >> so, in pennsylvania. >> well parks has dubious distinction of having the highest gas tax in the country. >> fifty-one. >> it is about 2.50 a gallon average but we are still less in pennsylvania but after you pay bridge toll and gas on get over. >> i'm driving to delaware. >> delaware 2.08 cents, still a good deal. >> still not worth it. well, it depend if you live on the border, head down to border, fill up. >> true. >> chad forward, something like that. >> tips to save you money all right. >> first use your smart phone, gas buddy is a good app, gas buddy to find you cheap gas near you gas buddy, it will tell you the absolute cheapest gas in your area. >> right now average new jersey driver will spend 175 bucks extra per year. >> per year. >> per year to fill his or her tank, assuming 20 miles per gallon. >> hey, 175 bucks extra. instead pay cash. why a lot of gas stations give you discount for paying cash. >> what about, is there a difference between gas regular and premium. >> save a boat load of dough by buying regular gas instead of premium. dirty little secret. most cars don't need premium. get by just without regular unless you have a maserati or ferrari. >> i had a nice car. i wanted to pamper it. you had three choices. i would go high. but if i had rental car, cheap gas. >> if you putting premium in your toyota or honda, you are wasting your money. you don't need it. regular is just fine. save 600 bucks a year by going from premium to regular. >> good to see you, my man. >> that is how we do it. >> um-hmm. >> bam. >> speaking of driving around that is what jen is doing following this breaking news, septa strike here in philadelphia, jen. >> yeah, good morning. we are at masterman high school where you can see all of the cars are lined up. that is not usually how it looks. these kid are used to taking septa. we will talk to you about their plans and what the principal has to say in a few minutes. hillary clinton: far too many families today don't earn what they need and don't have the opportunities they deserve. i believe families deserve quality education for their kids, childcare they can trust and afford, equal pay for women, and jobs they can really live on. people ask me what will be different if i'm president? well kids and families have been the passion of my life and they will be the heart of my presidency. i'm hillary clinton and i approve this message. welcome back to good day philadelphia hey, good to see you. you have to drive-in to work or school. normally would you see bus after bus after bus in our shot here at fourth and market outside of our tv studio no bus. >> it is awfully quiet. >> it is. >> we are not hearing that. we are seeing kid and here. hi. my gosh, hi. >> that is my buddy. >> she walks by every day. >> every day. >> she waves to me. >> look at fourth street here, tom, this street is normally jammed with the mastery charter school kid and most of them, well, a lot of them come to school on septa on the buses. we see them climbing out every take about this time but they are not here. >> they are not here. >> so how are they getting to school today? do you have to drive to them. >> a lot of people tweeting me saying they are walking, doing car pooling, when they come to work they are say they just can't go and it will cost more money, and. >> you have that one tweet when we left studio during that commercial break they have to walk 2 miles to work. >> he business to start his 2-mile walk to work. >> did you send that to ryan. >> yes. >> is it up, i cannot see. >> okay. >> they are working on a picture. >> taking picture of himself walking. >> that is situation here, in buses, very unusual for us here at "good day philadelphia". >> picture is up, nice little sunrise picture showing his walk. how are you dealing with this. how are you getting kid to school and work. we are getting tweets. use the #fox 29 good day. if you have any questions about this septa strike, try to figure it out what you can and can't to make sure you tweet us using the #bob kelly has been working and answering all kind of questions this morning and we will make sure to get you cover. >> why did this that? >> union and septa did not come to an agreement. karen is with those union workers on strike at 59th and callowhill. >> reporter: that is right. you think buses are not over here, that is because they are over here. thinks a huge bus depot. they are under lock and key. this is an area that should be jumping with the buses in and out running those routes. those doors are town on the big barn over here at 59th and callowhill. also, the trolleys, they have set up gates, they are lock up as well because nothing is moving. what is are the people. we have talked about during a strike. this isn't something where septa workers get a couple days off and sit on the couch and relax. this is work action. it is an issue. they still get up, they would be coming, running the trolleys and operating our buses and trains and whatever but instead they are out here because it is important to show unity and talk about the issue that they think are important to them and they will be losing honey when out on strike. they understand this is very difficult for our city. it shuts our system down, our city down when mass transit isn't running. i asked one of the veterans, one of the oldest of the crew out here, gary mason, trolley operator what this experience is like and why they are doing it. what is it like to go on strike. >> well, this being about my sixth one it is not fair to our customers but we have to to what we have to do. >> that is why they are out here. with the picket signs on and they have big fire pits out here, they have logs and throwing another log on the tire. you know it because if you have to not take your bus or get on the train you will be walking as well, a lot of people walking and a lot of people taking bikes if you happen to have one. that will make 2 miles go shorter for brian. that is scene at 59th and callowhill. steve, what is it like over by you. >> reporter: i just realized something covering my fourth septa strike. look at septa and thought it sued for southeastern pennsylvania transportation authority. but it just realized it stand for something else, strikes inevitable people, take another way. >> okay. we are not able to come to an agreement with septa so as of 12:01 we are officially on strike. we could not come to an agreement on certain things, simple things as far as bathroom breaks, lunchtime for operators, work scheduling, operator fatigue thing of that sort. we could not come to an agreement. we will strike right now. >> just getting off of work and by the time i had to record from the septa web site they said they were going on strike at is the. just trying to get done at 12 so i can get here and hopefully make the bus and by that time it was just too late. >> they got off of work late because i to the off at mid night. i was hoping they would not go on strike but unfortunately they actually did. there are people across the the street that are still stuck out here. i'm stuck out here. i heard from a friend that uber wants to charge people ten dollars to go anywhere. >> reporter: you heard willie brown say bathroom breaks. here's the detail of these. these bus drivers get five minutes. how do you park a bus run off the bus, fine a bathroom, get back on the bus in five minutes. it doesn't leave you a lot of room in the rest room. no rest involved. i know none of us can go to the bathroom in five minutes if you have to go to the secretary and get the key with the big chunk of wood on it the so it toss than the get lost first. >> mike has the big chunk have of wood on it. 7:36. here's a run down for what is not running today. no city buses, no trolleys, no market frankford or broad street subway. thinking in the city limits is not rum but is what is regional rails. we are operating with 30 minute delays and overcrowding. the norristown high speed line is running. suburban buses and trolley routes outside the city limits are on a separate contract. they are running today. paratransit, lucy loop is running. all of the regional rails, 30 minute delays. i talk to septa a few moments ago. they said if we can stress the flex time, asking your employer for flex time, to avoid the typical morning and afternoon rush hours. if you are go to try uber or lyft there is so many different tweets and hash tags out there. some are not true, some of these discounts for free rides are not materializing. so go to the official uber or lyft pages for your official coupon codes. parking options will be there deal, flat the ten for ten. ten bucks for ten hours at select philly center city parking garages. we have those locations on our web site at fox 29.com. also put that link up on facebook, twitter, instagram, you name it, we got it. here's your speed meter reading jammo on all major roadways, schuylkill jams, 95, blue route and again we are only at 7:37. that is the vine expressway coming off of i-95, so coming into center city already parking lot, but sue can we open up surround roof and take a deep breath. >> if you feel that would be refreshing, okay. maybe you have a warm calzone ready for lunch. yes, it is national calzone day celebrate by bus stop buddy. temperatures in the 30's and 40's. clear skies, most of the area, plenty of sunshine. you will need shade. 42 degrees, chillier then yesterday, we had sunrise at 7:30. some of the temperatures are in the 20's up in the mountains, below freezing to the north of us, only 33 in millville. we are looking at a warmer day then yesterday, but slightly. we will be right at average temperature for this time of the year with 62 degrees. it is seasonal temperature with sunny skies and mostly cloudy tonight, not as chill which a low of 49. so that takes care of your weather for today, seven day forecast is coming up, "good day philadelphia" will continue after this. you out. no warning, no hearing. it's a lending practice so outrageous, most states banned it. but at the bank founded by pat toomey it was business as usual. forcing small business owners out of their homes. toomey even used his power in the senate to help himself, voting to gut rules that protect us and crack down on big banks. pat toomey. out for himself, not us. dscc is responsible for the content of this advertising. you have heard the saying death by chocolate but they can be toxic. >> so with all that halloween candy you are looking at the floor of your living room. how much is too much. american chemical society tackled the question for you. we have an answer. >> the lethal dose of sugar and it is 13 and a half grams per pound of body wait the wait. so for a person weighing 180-pound that would be 5.4-pound of sugar, all this one sitting. that is a lot. broken down that is 262 fun sized candy bars or 1627 pieces of candy corn, which is more than the average bag, you see on the store shelf. you have to really be doing a lot, to make this happen. >> i can down a bag of candy corn, i love candy corn. >> i love it too. problem is people are saying they didn't have a lot of trick or treaters. so now people have have all this candy. we have a segment coming up later in the show to show you cool things and different things to do with your candy, that we can save it, and not stair the at it for months and months. >> mow little brother, yes. >> yes.
