is that not a beautiful shot. boy, breeze is really picking up. we have been showing these gentle waves kissing the beach all morning. look at these waves getting rough. that is why rip current are up. here's brand new sea wall, see all of the construction equip many, they have tore down what was left of the old boardwalk and they are still building this sea wall, first construction guy showed up. next to the one beach house still standing, because they built it like that one of the three little pigs out of brick. it withstood sandy and hundred years of the worst storms mother nature has thrown. to the right, mike there is your hang out. the borgata in the marina section right over the news truck with the headlights. there is last vest stage of the old boardwalk. you can see concrete pylons, and you used to be able to walk through that monument when you walk on the old boardwalk. this gives you a sense where we are and devastation that happened with sandy, coincidently the last time we had a ron california storm watch posted for the jersey coastline like we do for this weekend. we will leave with you this last look of the absecon light house right there that is tallest light house on the jersey shore and mike if you ever want to walk up there and take alex on a nice trip, it is chris, it is chris, i'm sorry, chris if you want to walk up here, it is 228 steps of circular motion a good work out and great view once you get to the top. >> i will leave that for mike and he will be back on tuesday, how is that. >> reporter: you got it. >> you do work out, there is the difference. maybe you should do it. >> i walk. >> you don't work out. >> you change in work out clothes. >> i walk 12 blocks, to go get a haircut after the show. >> is that for show when do you that. >> receipt i much. >> thanks for calling me out. >> you are good at that you will. >> what? >> 6:06. we have to turn to this serious developing story on this try morning. police in hey fair need your help finding the driver who hit and killed a cycle will is in hey fair overnight. >> our jennifer joyce is live at the scene with more disturbing details about this. bicyclist we're told did everything that they were supposed to do. >> reporter: exactly, alex, that bicycle was according to police riding in the mark bike line had multiple flashing safety lights on his bike and was only a half mile from his home when his life violently ended. just after 12:45 a champagne or silver colored vehicle nailed the cyclist biking on the 5800 block of frankford avenue. investigators say impact of the crash, launched the man 50 o two pieces and found 75 feet down the road. police say four three-year old cyclist had severe trauma to his head and upper body. died at the scene. the car involve took off. police have a message for that person this morning. >> my message to that individual who struck this person, there is still time, turn yourself in, do the right thing, and don't wait for police to identify and come and get you. it will make things worse for you. best thing to do is to call 911 or go to the nearest police station and turn yourself in immediately. >> investigators say after striking the cyclist the vehicle jumped a curb and hit a sign and took off northbound on frankford avenue. investigators say there are pieces on the have the the car that they will collect and use to determine make and model of the vehicle will involve. we do believe that this carries missing a left side mirror. it is also expect to have decent amount of front end damage. back to you guys. >> jennifer, thank you. 6:08. to southwest philadelphia where police are investigating another homicide. authorities say a man was shot to death standing outside a day care around midnight on south 58th street. philadelphia police say one bullet hit the window of that day care center. right now investigators are looking for a man and would hand last seen talking to the victim. city currently has over 190 homicide for 016. >> controversy this morning over a tattoo. a tattoo on the left arm of the philadelphia police officer. it is on the cover of the daily news as you can see. >> it started with angry reaction following an on line article in the philly voice which showed a social media post of the tattoo. many thought it depict emblem of the nazi party eagle with the word the fatherland. internal affairs is investigating. head of the union says it is a german eag toll celebrate officer's heritage and never been accused of headaching a racist or anti sematic remarks. in fact he has jewish heritage. >> here's a officer, decorated officer, has been on the police force, and department, well over 17 years. he has a exemplary record. he has had this tattoo which is just an eagle for over a decade. >> now philadelphia police do not have a policy regarding tattoos at this point but they are investigating whether they need to implement one. that is something we have seen, that they said they will not support. we will have a guest into talk about this, brewing controversy. 6:09. new concerns about water quality for students heading back to a local campus why they are saying don't drink anything from the faucet get your bodled water ready. good morning. do not drink or cook with their the water in their dorms after tests found elevated of lead. >> rowan university officials say an employee first noticed water in linden hall was discolored. over past month they have tests performed on the water in their building and several others on the same waterline. they say test found elevated levels of lead and iron in the water. the iron is what is causing the discoloration. >> i'm really concerned bit. i brush my teeth this morning i forgot. >> right now we're still in the testing hoed. so in the residents halls we have asked students don't drink the water and we're supplying them with water. so just bottled the water to be able to brush their teeth and be able to cook. >> officials say lead isn't absorbed through skin so students can take a shower, wash clothes and using campus water. they say it will take months to complete testing. 6:12. penn state making a controversial decision about joe paterno, what they are doing this football season that has many upset this morning. take a look at the radar, live right now tracking hermine now downgraded to a tropical storm but how will this affect us here at home heading down the shore for the holiday weekend is this sue is tracking that next. [ fly buzzing ] did you know people can save over $500 when they switch to progressive? did you brush your hair today? yes, mom. why? hmm. no reason. hermine has been weakened now at least downgraded to a tropical storm moving further inland after pushing in florida, hermine is expect to move in the carolinas and up the east coast with potential for drone having rain and deadly flooding. the storm is first hurricane to hit florida since 2005, sue, that has been more than a decade since a hurricane made land fall down there. >> that is right, and especially where for the land fall to occur on the west coast of florida, but it did, and now here's a very dramatic satellite picture of hermine and all of the clouds. is there plenty of rain under those clouds but before we get to the details lets break down impact for us for the holiday weekend. for those hoff plans to go to the shore expect the possibility, let's say, mostly on sunday any impact we feel from the storm mess of it will be on sunday. could be several inches of rain. we could see wind gusting over 45 miles an hour, possibly more on sunday. some tidal flooding and some beach erosion and don't forget about the rip currents that could be dangerous. now, for us, inland we have got made in america this weekend, probably just clouds on saturday. and some rain on sunday. this is still to be determine because of the track have the of the storm. if we get any rain it would be on sunday when we could see gusty wind as well, possibility to 30 miles an hour and still breezy on monday. this is the early call but that is the break down for our area. this is 70-mile an hour wind winds with this storm expect to retain tropical storm status as it continues inland, which is, not often happening with tropical storms and hurricanes. we see circulation around the high, which is now starting to move into georgia. this is latest track of the storm, cone of uncertainty still pretty big as you get close to our area because this storm is expected to move around in the atlantic and after it moves off shore, retaining its tropical storm status for a while and then downgrade to go a tropical depression on sunday and monday. the last computer models we had more eastward track which is good news for us, slightly less of an impact possible, so again a lot of uncertainty with that. lets see the latest projection on saturday, maybe 20 miles an hour, 23 inland, close to tropical storm status, i should say at the shore and highest wind will be felt on sunday and there is your sunday win gusts in philadelphia, possibility of 30, 35 miles an hour. again that rip current danger all labor day weekend at the shore with wind gusts will be highest as we mentioned early on sunday. we will wrap it all up with the seven day forecast, which is a cool one. 84 degrees today with the sunshine but then 70's for saturday and sunday. we would have had relatively cool temperatures even without hermine's impact, rain if we get it on sunday will taper on monday it looks like with the high of 80 degrees and getting nice and hot as we get in the middle of next week back to the 90's on thursday. dave warren? >> good morning. >> hi. >> it is me. we're talking traffic. heading down the shore despite that weather forecast that sue just gave us, you might want to head out early big holiday weekend around king of prussia, there was an accident here, eastbound side of 76 near 202 but it looks like it has been cleared. just residual delays this morning in that area. things are moving nicely there. heading to parts of the delaware county where we see that sun glare starting, it is up, almost up here in ten minutes and seeing the first hunt of that sunrise this morning. moving along nicely along i-95 north and southbound. we have an issue this morning in newark, delaware, route one northbound right at 95 that road is closed because of the accident scene. use 13 to get around that or being diverted at exit number seven, and then again in newark, delaware. we have an issue in pottstown, around pottstown route 23 at ridge road near pottstown pike there is a crash there part of the road is block and work your way around that this morning. chris and alex, back to you. is there outrage over there. former stanford swimmer set to leave later this morning from jail after being incarcerated for three months only after being convicted of sexually assaulting a unconscious woman, brook turner's kasich nighted a national debate after many criticized his six month sentence as being too lenient. he served half that time because he was given credit for time served as well as good behavior. turner's sexual assault of the victim passed out behind a dumpster drug when two others were walking by and confronted him. we will have live coverage from santa claire in northern california in the 8:00 o'clock hour of "good day philadelphia". former subway spokesmen jared fogle said parent of one of the female team. paul turner made it impossible to cut him after some great catches, look at this, he caps it off with a 71-yard punt return for a touchdown, turner was the player of the game, you absolutely cannot cut that guy. lets get to the third where former penn stater christian hack hack evenberg, eagles win 14-six finishing the preseason four-zero. in colin kaepernick did not stand again last night after a 90 minute conversation before the game with a green barrett/former nfl player he chose to neil during the anthem. 49ers also chose to neil with kaepernick. that is sports in a minute. i'm sean bell. well, on top of that colin kaepernick facing new criticism yesterday. this time it is over his footwear. this video shows kaepernick with pictures of pigs dress as police officers. this video fridays august. this story only started to get traction on line recently. >> so kaepernick took to instagram to respond yesterday. he said quote, i wore these socks from the past because rogue cops loud to hold positions in police department not only put the community in danger but also put the cops that have the right intentions in danger by creating an environment of tension, and mistrust. i have two uncles and friend who are police officers and work to protect all people, even quote. a lot, as season gets underway in a week. >> he sure will. 6:26. we are discussing tropical direction, what will it do to our holiday weekend, we will have the answer, at least the best as we can determine coming up, steve? >> reporter: sue, your answer about the start of the labor day weekend being picture perfect was right on the money as usual. it doesn't get anymore perfect then this down at the shore but question is how will the rest of the weekend be? the golf course overnight we're tracking the storm as it moves up toward us. new jersey shore is in the path, how hermine is expect to impact your who will take weekend down the shore. >> say it ain't so. and developing this morning a man killed on his bike after being hit by a car and thrown 50 feet in the air and then the driver took off, the vehicle police are looking for right now. good day everyone it is second day fund is responsible for the content of this advertising. shore mine has weakened moving further inland there have been reports of injuries, couple was injured after that are car hit a down tree, officialness florida say the state -- officials in florida say the storm surges, it has storm surge up to eight to 10 feet and new storm is moving in georgia. thousands are without power after pushing into georgia hermine is expect to move in the carolinas and up the east coast with the potential for drone having rain and deadly flooding. alex, you mentioned georgia. you also looked at south carolina and florida, sue as we look at where hermine is right now you cannot even see those three states. >> there is a lot of rain and cloud cover. satellite picture is always the most dramatic of a storm like this where you can see circulation around the eye but let's first talk about, yeah, the rain and very heavy rain moving into southern south carolina right along the shore here around charleston they are getting heavier rain and band of the storm extend it to the outer banks of the north carolina and as far south as tampa, florida. is there the center of the storm now in southern georgia. basically it is 50 miles north east of tallahassee and that is right around where it made land fall at 10:00 this morning as a category one hurricane. it is now back to the tropical storm. as we look at projected track it stays a tropical storm even though center of it the is inland it is close to the coast and moves off shore off the coast of north carolina by saturday and then takes a bit of the northerly turn but still stays well off shore and then uncertainty is receipt i great as far as the impact on us, but we will do the best we can as far as figuring out what will happen at the shore and staying inland for holiday weekend. spaghetti models a lot of agreement about that off shore track of hermine. here's one look at our future cast showing a lot of rain by saturday in virginia a very little bit if we get any on saturday in our area. if we get any rain from this storm it would be on sunday and potentially lingering in to early monday morning but this storm is expect to move all over the place in the atlantic ocean avenue it moves off shore. our shore impact will be rip current for sure, rough surf, and then saturday we will get them moving in the evening heaviest rain that we do get will be on sunday, lingering showers potentially into monday morning. those are shore impacts and wind highest at the shore as well. if we get tropical impact here in philadelphia it will be on sunday from this storm but don't expect temperatures in the 90's like last weekend. oh, no, 80's today, 70's sat the day and sunday and for labor day we are hoping for cloud and a high of 80 degrees. dave warren. >> good morning, sue. i have an issue here. we are watching this here all morning, route one around 273, dump truck that was overturn with this crash here. so traffic getting by slowly here but then might see issues along here. this is chopper live over the scene here and to the happens we will see exactly where this is route one near 273 right near newark delaware. issue on 422, eastbound right off to the side there, little activity, but track getting by. might to have slow down a little bit there. this is right around 23 right here near valley forge park there. right through 23 eastbound at 422, just watch for that. also, a few issues here or lack of shall isis ben franklin bridge picking up later today getting out of town, despite the forecast, it looks good on either side of the ben franklin bridge this morning. just added volume. and if you have been watching this in delaware, this is along route one, this the north bound side near i-95, there has been a crash there that shut the road down. you are diverted off of route 16789 use roads to get around this right here near exit number seven. chris and alex, back to you. last time eagles won national championship was 1960, beat giants here in philadelphia before it was call super bowl. well, lets talk about 1960, it was last time national football league's draft took place in philadelphia. >> now, coming up after two years in chicago three day event will take place along ben franklin parkway, april 27th through the 29th. event is expect to draw more than 200,000 fans, and will incorporate views of the art hugh seem and its famous rocky steps. here's how they will do it. players will walk up their steps once they get drafted. like the sound of that. >> league will pick up most of the the cost of the draft and it is not yet clear how much if any tax dollars will be spent. former eagles quarterback ron jaworski is an event. >> about a post pattern from here 80 years ago the first nfl draft was held and guess what, we're back in fail and we're back strong. >> he sound excited. >> he does. >> of course, this will be bitter sweet for eagles fans because the team does not have a first round pick in 2017 paw we traded for carson wentz. the as things stan we will be watching opening night selections with just the host. it will be important. we will headache sure people have enough cheese, wine, all that, having a good time, someone sitting there, not having a conversation go entertain. >> i love players just drafted will walk up the steps. they have to do
