things may be cold outside but temperatures flared at a local pizza shop. what is wrong with this dude. what has one customer throwing everything that he could grab and trying to attack the man behind the the counter, my goodness. 60:00 is on this very cold friday. hi alex and bob. >> sue, it is all but, today baby. >> we're on record watch this morning. as i tweeted out earlier, it is just, curse word cold. >> it is. >> it is so... >> don't do it. >> you walk outside and what do you say, a bad word. >> yeah. >> that is exactly right. >> i went to my go to word when the the wind hit me by the way, make sure you take care of your fury friend. it is national be kind to your pet day. >> what better day to make sure they stay indoors. >> so true. >> run outside, do the business come right back in. >> record low for this date as we have been telling you is one, set in 1979. so far today we have gotten down to three. >> that is where we are right the now. >> let's see, still at three okay. but, these actual temperatures have now sunk below in reading, lancaster pottstown allentown. temperature ten below in mount pocono. we have a new record in wilmington delaware. 2 degrees. we are close to the record of zero in atlantic city. so wind chills this is a dangerous part they have sunk22 below in lancaster and reading, 21 degrees in reading is wind chill in pottstown right now. seventeen below in the city. so, you don't have to be outside long at all before you get some frostbite symptoms. so bus stop buddy for kids who do have to go to school today and we have this closing for the delayed openings scrolling at the bottom of the screen and on my fox philly.com, wind chills, well below zero. so, we are only going to get up to 18 degrees today, plenty of sunshine, skies are clear and that caused a lot of this radiational cooling overnight and these temperatures to plunge as low as they have. so, yes we're at three right now but it feels much colder. we will talk about the the weather changes in just a few minutes. bob kelly, how are folks doing. >> you mention about letting the dogs out this morning. i opened up to let the dogs own and they look at me you want me to go out there. you are crazy. good morning everybody. 6:03. live look downtown philly. an accident on the vine street expressway at sixth street we are getting word that a driver fled the scene so this is all take place in downtown philadelphia majors are off to a quiet start on the schuylkill i-95 and roosevelt boulevard. it is far from quiet in the neighborhood. the nasty accident at 63rd and chestnut, right at the t intersection there at cobbs creek coming into play. a water main break at castor and rhawn, so that is one of the busy intersections. use bustleton avenue or solly as an alternate. steve was live here at this location earlier, walt whitman service plaza on the southbound side of the new jersey turnpike, and the gas pumps are open but there is no food, no water, in rest rooms, that whole refreshment area there is just blocked off. so the the only thing you can get is gas as you head south and that is a quick pit stop for folks. i feel bad for anybody using path the co high speed line today. this new construction schedule do you remember last week? they are doing it again today. single tracking will leave with us 26 minutes gaps in service. i wouldn't be too thrilled to be standing outside in 26 minutes. there is in express services, the key is having the timetable for patco high speed line today. >> we have talk bit all week. fifteen to 30 minutes, you can get frost nip frostbite, if you are outside in the cold, and skin exposed to this weather. twenty-six minutes waiting on the platform. no no, no. couple things, catholic schools in philadelphia, they have closed to day. public schools still. >> we have not heard any word on public schools just yet. >> so i'm surprised because they are normally in uni son they do the the same thing normally but bunch of schools every closed to day. at the bottom of the screen. there they go. >> go on my fox philly.com. >> yes, there is nothing to play with, eight people have lost their lives because of the cold temperatures in our area, in the delaware valley. i mean, it is really bad. >> the cold is being blamed for a number of other reasons. we are having water main breaks. steve keeley is life in cherry hill where a rest stop is closed because of it. >> reporter: bob kelly just covered this. the let the me tell you about the eight people kill by the cold all in the past month. five in montgomery county, two in berks county, one in lehigh county this he were all senior citizens and all preventable if people had check on them. if you know a senior, related to a senior, have a grandparent, older mom, dad or neighbor or a neighbor or friend, check on them. make sure their heat is on, working that they are in the worried about a high heat bill. we have seniors dying in the summer because they are afraid to turn the air conditioning on. check on your seniors. do the the neighborly thing. you can save a life today. let me talk more about the schools. mr. gillard who we talk to earlier this week, do you remember about the indecision about the snow. last night he was doing interviews with reporters, and he says, they are going to open up early, they thought about the cold, they have engineers going to the schools early to turn the heat on to make sure that the heat works in the schools because how often do we have schools closing because heat doesn't go on. he said they were making preparations early bringing crewness overnight to make sure that the schools were warm and kid get there but we have heard from the bus company, and that operate those yellow buses on the road. they have trouble in the heat as well, so they were having people coming in early to make sure that there was no problems getting the buses running and getting heat on those buses because they can be cold, with the doors opening and closing. that is why philadelphia schools, at least, last night were confident, that they wouldn't have problems today but real problems can be when the the kid are outside, kid being kid, they will not like wearing hats and gloves, and that is going to be the problem. make sure the the kid get there. and, that is the problem make sure your get the kid in the school. >> with that said lets show you more what would bob kelly was talking about. you see turnpike is here. look at that flag blowing. gas station is opened. the problem is, this is walt whitman service plaza when you get on route 73, panning to the right do you see the big name on there. so you have food, nathan's hot dog place, bathrooms. but look at little signs the doors. people are going up and finding in rest room. well, they warned but this long before you get here because they have those nice new signs blaring a across the road and it says no food no bathrooms, no drink no water no nothing for 30 miles. so next rest stop if you don't want to get off on the black horse pike and drive through bellmawr and glendora to find a place next one all the way before exit number one, delaware memorial bridge a lieutenant of warning. let me show you a quick video what we shot in camden where we started our day. you can see assad as it looks a hand staying outside. he is in a glass bus shelter. maybe a little protection from the wind but very sad, there is these code blues and advocates are out on the streets doing their great job of getting people off the streets. people still refuse. even in this cold, we are seeing people outside. very sad mike and alex. >> incredibly sad. my gosh. 6:08. an arrest in vegas. >> that road rage incident that left a with man dead. it turns out accusedded shooter actually knew her. what the victim's husband had to say to the man under arrest. things got under control in the little caesars pizza shop, what had this guy so upset and flipping out. you tell us what you want to pay and we help find options to fit your budget. nah, nah, insurance, nah, nah, nah, discount. my name's flo, you want to go out with me? no. uh-huh-huh! you know, a pizza sound good right now. you want it you want it fast. >> you get a craving. >> oh, yeah. >> at little caesars a man goes on a rampage but it was all a case of mistaken identity. >> he had this angry dude here, walks in the little caesars, on west girard in north philadelphia right. >> the guy takes a couple shots at the cashier, knocks over just about anything on the counter, including the register, throws the register at the guy behind her counter. he even tries to well just throw anything inside at this guy behind the counter. two with men who walk in even tried to calm the guy down, pull him outside. he went back in. he wanted to fight anybody and everybody. >> poor guy was just trying to do his job make a living for himself and his family. >> that could be anybody in there. so, for public safety like you know kid were in there he could have walk into just anybody. >> cashier was not hurt. he told us that the suspect just picked up an order and that he was mad at a different cashier from earlier. the the fight was allegedly over something that happened when this suspect's sister was in the the little caesars, maybe some flirting was going on, so her brother was made. went back in there. it was a different cashier. different a attendant. >> wrong guy. >> wrong guy. >> threw a fit for nothing. 6:13. friendly basketball game in a high school gym goes from trash talk to violence. who body slam a teacher. 14 irresistible flavors. one for the mood. one for the moment. each one can make every day more delicious than the last. the taste could only be baileys. the experience could only be yours. baileys coffee creamers. this is the one. look at that cyclone hit the northern territory of australia and then just a few hours later, cyclone marcia. >> they name their cyclones. >> yes, just like we name our hurricanes and everything else. >> yes, it the hit east coast of the queensland state with wind whipping to 180 miles an hour. coastal residents were forced from the home and return to find significant damage a. 30,000 people are still waiting for lights to come back on. >> sue, please describe to me, their naming cyclone marcia. >> it is the same thing as a hurricane good exact same thing. >> exactly the same thing they just don't call it a hurricane. >> then what is a typhoon. >> it is the same kind of storm, with counterclockwise circulation, they just different parts of the world, call it different things. >> beautiful. >> look at this face this poor little guy. it is love your pet day. thanks to kb hard hoy says we have to bun will up to go out with potty time. i wear my gear. not a fan of it. look at that sad face. we are not happy about these temperatures out there this morning. we have, broke then record in wilmington, delaware which had been standing since 1978. lets see where we are. we are at the 3 degrees in philadelphia 1 degree below zero in allentown getting close to that record. we are close to the record in atlantic city which is zero. we are at one right now. the this is more significant to how it feels outside. these wind chills have really dropped in the last hour, 20 below zero in allentown. twenty-two below in lancaster. 34 degrees below what it feels like in mount pocono dangerous out there to be out there for so long in the higher elevations but we're in the teens below zero, south of philadelphia, and in philadelphia that is why we have the advicery and wind chill warnings up. they are up until 11:00 a.m. well after sunrise how long these dangerous wind chills will be sticking around. now, we will look later on in the day we will see that we will stay in the teens all day long as warm as we will get single digits in the morning on saturday. here comes precipitation in the afternoon tomorrow in the form of some snow and initially, but then in an unusual move milder air will be moving in. so by six or 7:00 we will transition from know after we accumulate a couple inches over to rain but in between there will be an ice period and that is when travel can be very tricky on the road tomorrow. about six or seven or 8:00 in the evening a how of extra time. heavy rain moves through. we will get in the 40's in the overnight hours, and then the the rain moves out as we change over to all rain and it is gone by the afternoon. so that is the weather deal for the weekend, so much to talk about then when we're experiencing just plane cold on this frigid friday. so after the morning rain on sunday we will get ready for colder air to come back in the area, highs in the 20's on monday and tuesday and maybe chance of snow on monday and tuesday and wednesday. winter is not going anywhere anytime soon, bob kelly. >> good morning. 6:19. live look, in the bad on the roadways. forty-two coming toward philadelphia. we are seeing volume popping for the gang leaving south jersey, 95 seeing brake tap here heading southbound toward cottman avenue. we have word of the vehicle fire southbound on the northeast extension right here near mid county interchange. leaving land dale and coming south be ready to hit the the brakes. schuylkill expressway in bound, nifty 50 here in problems at all working your way from conshohocken through center city. accident along county line road at second street pike also in rhawnhurst this morning a water main break at castor and rhawn. traffic is getting through but that will be a hot mess through morning rush hour and even in the afternoon as they try to make repairs. walt whitman service plaza no food or water, rest area the building itself is closed, only thing that is opened is sun co gas station in there. this new construction schedule for patco will hit us hard today. remember last friday. they single track, 26 minute gaps in service. what happens is after that gap that first train pulls up to the first station, fills up immediately, and then next station they cannot pick up any new passengers. folks on that second and third station could be standing out there for longer then 26 minutes. then there is in express service. patco high speed line folks will said you know what forget bit, i will drive-in to work and modified schedule on the northeast corridor and acela trains on the amtrak and northeast corridor. >> mike and alex, back to you. police say they have arrested a man who shot and killed a woman in the road rage incident last week. he was a 19 year-old arrested on suspicion of murder after swat teams surrounded his home. police say he is a neighbor and acquaintance of 44 year-old tammy myers, would the man who died. her husband says she knew him very well. >> he is probably watching this right now. i know he has got the to feel bad. she was really good to him. she fed federal him. he gave him money. she told him to pull his pant up and to be a man more times then i can count. >> police said they are still investigating the incident and they are looking for one other suspect in the shooting. the super bug out break that is suspect in two deaths at the a los angeles happies raising questions bay hard to clean instrument. >> yeah, nearly 180 patients at ucla medical center may have been exposed to an an bite i can resistant bacteria called cre, seven of them were infect, two people have died. possible exposures occurred during fairly routine procedures involving a specialized endoscope, hospital officials say they were put through routine sterilization and protocols but better cleaning processes may be necessary. in fact they just threw out two of the endoscopes. >> 6:22. it is in the running for best picture but some hollywood insiders think american snipper won't take home the goal. why this scene could have ruined its chances. >> oh, baby. >> but first a friendly game of basketball at a high school gym end with police getting called in, who body slammed a teacher. put her in the hospital. good morning i'm sean bell. the sixers continue their tanking ways. michael carter williams gets, dump to the milwaukee bucks for lakers top five protect pick . kj mcdaniels trade todd houston. the sixers acquire mcgee. on wednesday cole hamels said he wanted to play for a winner, yesterday cliff lee echoed those same thoughts. the phillies won't be very good and lee made it clear he wants to compete for a championship. >> if you can tell me right new, yeah, you have an opportunity to play on the world series championship team absolutely, i want to do that. i think every player should want to do that. >> flyers playing the worst team in the nhl, second period, power play check this out, jay voracek, will score on the rebound, and that ties it up at two. but in the shoot-out sabres win three-two the final a rough week for the the flyers. well, that is your sports in a minute i'm sean bell. rough week when it comes to all sports in philly. >> that is for sure. we have to talk about the sixthers what happened yesterday at the trade deadline, wow. we will get into that in a second. speaking of basketball there is trash talking at the a basketball game in the state of florida. >> um-hmm. >> it land a teacher in the hospital. now the person who body slams a teacher to the court, not a student, the coach. >> more on this video it may be tough to watch. the teacher catherine martin says plays ball, but look at this oh, my gosh, during the game there was trash talking but it turns physical. you saw the coach body slam her, and throws to the ground. she drove herself to the hospital but she has a broken rib and neck injury from that. despite it all she forgives him the coach, the coach resigned and police are investigating this. the teacher hopes ton back at work next week. >> do you think it was heated over game or is there something between the two of them at holy hill high school. >> but why body slam her. >> no excuse ridiculous. 6:27. ipad can make a world of difference when it comes to children with autism. so a local officer took it upon himself to raise thousands of dollars to raise money for autism in philadelphia. why this project is so close to his heart. it is dangerously cold outside, as sue said it is curse word cold. we could see record temperatures. is there any relief in sight. sue will let us know. take a look at these temperatures. the that is just temperatures we are not even at the wind chill just yet. >> no. >> we are more than 20 degrees colder then anchorage right now. >> we might as well be in anchorage for goodness sake. >> i love that thinking. >> yeah. >> there is some relief this weekend. sue serio will let us necessity about our relative warm up. >> we have to make it to sunday, man. >> here's a live look near masterman charter school in spring garden. one lonely man out there with his backpack a lot of kids are staying home today because of the dangerously low temperatures. catholic schools are closed. look at the bottom of the screen there. we are scrolling through some schools. we will play this. >> i waited four years for him to say i love you, you know that is something, i feel at the even of the day is great. >> philadelphia officer raises thousands of dollars hoping to help children with autism. how is he doing witt ipads. >> he is a police officer here in philadelphia february 20th 2015. let me read you a tweet or two here. >> okay good oh, geese, hold please. hole. >> we're waiting. >> frank says philly schools are nuts if they think any caring parent will send our kid out, the the door today in these cold temperatures. nicholas says sue, can you give me a shout out, nicholas coto i want to be a meteorologist when i grow up. >> yo, nicki. >> you are so fine. >> o, nicki you are so fine. >> it is ricky but we understand. well listen, we have to deal with a lot of people in the liking you when stuff lake this happens because we're very frustrated. it has been cold a long time. i don't think we will get to record cold in philadelphia we are at three and we're getting really close to sunrise time. anyway sunrise about quarter of 7:00 these days. three in philadelphia. one below in allentown. the record there is two below. we have a new record in trenton where it is one, previous record was six and previous record five in wilmington now at two. two new record this morning not here in philadelphia we are very close to atlantic city 1 degree away. this is what is more significant how it feels outside, teens below zero in philadelphia trenton, wrightstown. twenty's below zero north and west of us, and just ridiculously cold in mount pocono where it feels like 34 degrees below zero. that is what it feels like outside, buddy knows the drill as little exposed skin as possible if you are going to school today. wind chills well below zero. so it is a two out of ten if only the temperature were that high. we will get to 18 by the even of the day deceptive sunshine all day and third one in the row that we can legitimately called frigid friday. sunset time 5:43 p.m. lots of weather changes over the weekend. we will have details coming up in the seven day forecast, all right, been kelly, your turn. >> good morning. last week earlier in the week i spoke to the triple a guys the cars are having trouble, disable right at the intersection of city avenue at conshohocken state road. he is stuck in what is the right lane all backup behind him here. you would think somebody to push him in the gas station here but allow a few extra minutes to warm betsy up there but don't leave your car unattended out front. good news from south jersey walt whitman service plaza, water is back on and they are back opened for business. bathrooms are opened and coffee is on there at the the star bucks inside there. and then south on the northeast extension an accident at lehigh valley interchange taking out one of the lanes. crash north on 202, all north bound lanes are block at silverside road accident on county line and second street pike water main break in rhawn hearst castor and rhawn and dangerous conditions on the the patco high speed line. because of the new construction schedule they are single tracking folks could be stuck in the 26 minute gap in service. i necessity our steve keeley is on the the way to one of the the patco station toss see how this thing will roll you the here this morning because there will be no express services on the line as well. amtrak is modifying their schedules on the northeast corridor and all of the acela express trains. mike and alex, back over to you. universal schools apparently closed and all catholic schools in philadelphia are closed. >> people are tweeting saying what about philly public schools. i got this tweet tell the school district to close schools. i can't feel will my hand and i have three pairs of gloves on. >> sandy says, i don't know who makes the the decision i will just keep my kid home today. the the temperature is three. wind chill in the negative teens. >> we will get out to jenny joyce with more on what is going on out there. it is cold. >> reporter: alex and mike, as you said we are live outside masterman charter and philadelphia public schools have not closed yet so we are just watching people coming by. everybody is bundled up. we do know a lot of schools in the the state of delaware have closed. yesterday we talk to dusty blakely the superintendent with the colonial school district. he said in these extremely cold temperatures buses are in the running as well as they should. their routes are delayed. the difficulties rick does not want children standing outside in this cold. some parents told us it is an inconvenience to them unscheduled day off from school means they need to find some within last minute to watch their children. school officials say it is in the student's best interest. >> the decision to made to close schools for student safety with wind chill factors below will zero and, we are concerned about frostbite and possibility of frostbite. >> i have to make arrangements for them to be somewhere all day long. we're not closed. it is an inconvenience but a good idea though. >> reporter: inconvenience for some parents and parents of children who attend catholic schools here in the city of philadelphia, because they just got that announcement. that inconvenience is coming more last minute for them mike and alex. >> well, it was probably an hour ago that came down so it is in the quite as bad. all right jenny thank you. i almost said a tv stupid thing to say, bye jenny. stay warm. i'm glad i didn't say it. >> she gets to go back in the truck and warm up. we are not just keeping her out there. >> the cameraman doesn't like her. how about this in west philadelphia, this is a horrible crash are. sixty-third and chestnut street during the middle of the night. it involves a cab as you can tell here and another car. cabdriver, look at that, had to be cut out with the jaws of life. suffered broken bones. the driver of the other car was arrested and charged with dui, my goodness. >> police are investigating a loaded with special programs. he wanted other parents to feel his joy and organized fund raise their brought in more than $8,000. there was a big party yesterday, celebrating the 36ipad he purchased for five schools. what a guy. >> some of these kids can talk and you just don't know it. they just don't have the right resources, funding or money. >> i waited four years for him to say i love you. that is something i still carry today. >> it will help get them so much further then i can do just my self. this is a amazing gift and i'm he so grateful. >> my goodness good let's all help. if you do temperatures this morning. and, it is six below the the actual temperature in chicago and that, and northeastern part of the country. the wind chills, they are just, some of the lowest we have seen, and, the lowest we will see and, allentown reading and pot town and lancaster. seventeen below in philadelphia more teens below zero to the south and east of us. this wind chill advisory will continue until 11:00 o'clock this morning. that is how long we expect the dangerous pole to stick around. that is well after sunrise, but, we will see sunshine today, only getting us in the teens, by the even of the the day, and then tomorrow, here's what starts to happen around the middle of the day, we will get snow moving in from west to east because it is still cold, with inning is will digit temps in the morning and then warmer air starts to move in and we will see, by 7:00 or 8:00 o'clock tonight but, it accumulating a couple inches and we will see that rain moving up to south to north. there could be icy conditions as we transition from the snow, to the rain and then in the overnight hours we will see temperatures rise even more. the rain gets heavier and we are well in the 30's by sunday morning, and maybe even hitting the 40's. before the storm gets out of here, by the end of the morning. so, over the the last seven days we have only hit freezing twice, every other day, we have been below freezing for the next seven days, we have got saturday and sunday and maybe wednesday, when we could get above freezing. otherwise, winter, does not loosen its grip on us for the next week or so, bob kelly. we have to look forward to it. >> sue, good morning. 6:48. tgif. we will look live at ben franklin bridge, in the the bad at all at the moment, up and over in toward the span at downtown philadelphia we will get curb side to the 42 freeway, pocket of volume working your way in toward the the city. here's an accident county line road, talking about this since this morning sky fox on the way, we will take you there, i'm getting word it is a pickup truck wedged underneath a tractor trailer. the it sound like an intersection type of accident here county line road at second street pike maybe an icy intersection that cause that had vehicle to slide underneath the tractor trailer. throughout the morning byberry or street road would be the best bets. we will go for a ride southbound i-95 starting to see volume pop heading in toward girard avenue and then south on the northeast extension for gang leaving the pocono area where it is wind chill minus 32 from the poconos. they will get warm and come in toward philadelphia, but we have an accident southbound right here near lehigh valley interchange and crash along 202 northbound all lanes are block at silverside, south on have that route one interchange. if you are coming northbound all lanes are block southbound side is opened and water main break here in northeast philadelphia rhawnhurst right at intersection of castor and rhawn, folks using bustle will ton and solly. head up if you are using patco, remember today is construction schedule, single tracking that will leave 26 minutes gaps in service and what we saw last week the train would pull up, first train after the gap, quickly fills to the max, doors close and then that train cannot pick up anymore passengers. basically just ride past the next couple of stations, as folks are shivering out after waiting for 26 minutes it will take two or three trains before passengers can get on and come toward philadelphia no express services also on the patco line and amtrak running a maryland fight schedule on the northeast corridor. mike and alex back over to you. some people at home want to make sure, the universal charter schools, they are going to close-up. >> we are getting a number of tweets, southwest leader ship academy charter school is closed to day. she got the call 20 minutes ago. the however the catholic schools are closed but philly
