Last night our cameras were rolling at about 10 50 when a man got out of a toyota camera Station Wagon and wrote black power and left a message on the steps suggesting the black community should take control of police operations. Police arrived and so did people upset by the vandalism. People like this woman who brought a towel to cover the graffiti. This woman says she has ties to the family and was growing up in the city when rizzo served as mayor. Living in the city of philadelphia my whole life, i was upset that someone would take the time out to do hatred, to a man whos not been alive for 20 years who did a lot of compassionate things for a lot of people in the city of philadelphia. So if everybody would say we live in the city of brotherly love, love, its just its just very upsetting that people will come down to do this stuff and demoralize our city like this and it needs to stop. Everybody down the street we have homeless that need to be fed, that maybe we should march down there and start giving out sandwiches or helping the needy instead of giving all this hatred out. Reporter its believed that police might know the man who came out with the spray paint last night. Its unclear how quickly an arrest could come. We will also be waiting to see how mayor kenney responds to all of this. 5 05. We do have this breaking news coming in. This one is changing by the hour. More information, a car has crashed in south philadelphia into a home sending one person to the hospital. This was just after midnight over at 13th and christian streets. The car hit the front of the house knocking a bill hole in big hole in it. One person was taken over to Jefferson Hospital. We dont know at this time what caused that crash. 5 05. Developing right now, another overnight terror attack in spain. More innocent people rammed. Five suspects wearing suicide belts were shot and killed according to investigators there and a third suspect in the earlier deadly attack has been taken into custody. 13 people were killed and 100 injured in barcelona when that van drove down that busy street. Not sure if hes a copy cat, if hes in the mind set of doing harm to Police Officers or whatever or if hes just trying to be mischievous but it is disturbing. So if you know who that person is right there, please call police. Students and alumni of lehigh university, they would like to remove an honor that they gave to our presidnt trump. They would like to revoke president trumps Honorary Degree in light of the comments on the deadly protests in charlottesville. They say trump failed to uphold the schools principles. A spokesperson for the school says it is aware of the petition and will handle it when it arrives. That suspect charged with killing a teenaged girl in a road rage shooting is going to be arraigned next week but he was in court and faced family of his alleged victim yesterday. Bianca roberson and david despers were in the same room. The District Attorney says rage fueled the attack. The roberson family says theyre looking to file a civil suit. But the future cast shows a possibility of some of that rain rolling through later on this morning with the potential for thunder and lightning and heavy downpours. You see pink there that means very heavy rain potential and it stays unsettled the rest of the day. Its very humid all day long. We me see sunshine and this is why we have the Flash Flood Watch rolling through. Potential. It is usually a nightmare to try to get any on a friday afternoon anyway especially in the summertime. But it all should be out of here just after midnight tonight and it looks like we see some clearing moving very quickly, it clears very quickly on saturday and extends into sunday. They were arrested after police found some material at their glenside home. They say they got a tip from aol. Com about these guys harry and patrick ennis. They issued a warrant and found 600 inappropriate images on their computer. There was a suspected gunman who chose the wrong house to hide in because there was a kid, 10 years old, who fought back. Our Shawnette Wilson has the story of a young boy who bit the suspected gunman. Reporter this 25yearold shows us where police were forced to break down the front door of her home in kensington this afternoon. Police say a man who they believe had just shot a 20yearold in the groin ran into the house trying to elude them. My mom was upstairs, we was actually sleeping and all we heard was like a big bang. Reporter the young woman says her 10yearold nephew had just come in the house when the suspect followed him in and struggled with the boy who allegedly bit the guy. Yeah. He bit him to try to get him off of him. Thats when he left. He escaped through the back. Reporter police say this all started at kensington and cambria streets. The suspect left the house and police say entered another home down the block. They caught him leaving out. Witnesses also said this perpetrator threw a hand gun in a vacant lot. Police went into the lot, it was covered with weeds and shrubs, and they did find a semiautomatic handgun. The family says the 10yearold is okay but shaken up. Of course. He was shook. Hes a baby. This area now cordoned off with tape as well with a few Police Officers keeping an eye on things. And the parents of the Penn State Fraternity pledge to died in that hazing ritual, they started a foundation in their childs name. So making something good come from something so horrible. It is 5 35 exactly. There have been two attacks in spain just hours apart. Police do think they are connected. Police shot and killed five suspects in response to that second terrorist attack that injured six people, including a Police Officer in a town of cambril. They were wearing fake bomb belts. Hours before 13 people were killed and 100 injured. 15 of them seriously at that attack in barcelona. State department saying at least one american injured. Lets get down to washington with the very latest. Doug, were getting so many details on this one hour by hour. Reporter where does it stop. We know of three incidents so far. The attack in barcelona, the one in cambril where five suspects were killed and we know of an explosion that occurred on wednesday that may be related to all of this as well. One person was killed in that incident. So is this the end of it . Well see. Theres still apparently one person at large that would be the driver of the van that careened into all the people. How many people were involved is this part of a larger terror cell or a handful of individuals and right now the answer is not clear. Weve got five in the most recent attack that were shot and killed and five in the earlier attack where two were taken into custody and theyre still looking for the driver and now a third person taken into custody as well. What do we know about the people that they have identified . Reporter not a great deal. There has been some names that have been circulated but theres some questions about whether or not theyre using other peoples identification and so on. Theres a lot of exercise right now about circulating some of the identity of these individuals. Nevertheless, there is an allout manhunt at the very least for the driver of the van that killed all those people in barcelona. You know, the bottom line here is that attacks like this are very difficult to prevent. Theyre very difficult to disrupt. All it takes is someone prenting a van renting a van and driving into a crowd and were seeing this more often now. Do we know anything about possible american victims at this time that youre hearing . Reporter the state department indicating that one american may have been wounded. But, you know, with this many people that were victimized as a result of this attack in barcelona, it may be some time before we know more about the identities of those involved. This is a big tourist spot in barcelona. Folks come from there from all over the globe. And this is really the height pf tourist season there. We know that taking some precautionness our country right now in the wake of all of this doug. You go to the north and theres still plenty of heavy downpours but theres a possibility of this happening this morning for us in the philadelphia area and a line moving through to the jersey shore and down into southern delaware. It looks like nobody will escape rain but there will be breaks in the action. But the problem is we get some sunshine that increases instability and increases the chance of strong to severe thunderstorms through 4 00, 5 00, 6 00 tonight and even later than that, especially if youre south and east of the city. The good news is after midnight everything is out of here and were looking dry and sunny and very hot for the weekend. Theres a slight risk of these severe thunderstorms. Thats a pretty good chance as we move through the evening hours tonight. So thats when you really have to watch out. Marginal risk out to the west of us but most of our area under the slight risk of Severe Weather tonight. Checking the tropics we have a new Tropical Storm as of this morning, Tropical Storm harvey. Actually this formed yesterday and now it is located 30 miles east southeast of barbados. The direction of the storm due west, which takes it away from the United States and heads right towards the yucatan peninsula there. So it looks like it probably wont be a danger to too many people. Gert is far enough away, although we have a moderate risk of rip currents for the shore, it looks much better for the weekend. A 30 chance with a disturbance coming off the west african coast. This is busy time for the atlantic hurricane season. The next names on the list are irma, jose and katia.
