pictures of trains and many riders hoping to get to center city philly were forced to get off the train close to where we are center city, camden. to switch from broken down train to second pack standing-room-only very disgruntled rider train. many said the patco tweeted 15 to 20 minute delays were nor near the hour plus late their trains were really running in reality. the general manager of patco port authority train company, put out a statement late yesterday and apology saying our number one goal is to provide safe, convene and timely service we are sorry for our recent level of service we'll find out if they got it fixed today. nobody is counting on. it as you always say leave you yourself extra time. we should say for patco riders expect who knows what to expect these days on patco. >> steve t. was as i crazy day yesterday and patco riders had to up to here as we'll say with some of the delays. yesterday it all started when five trains were taken out of service during morning rush hour. it happened 7:31, 7:40 and then three trains in that 8:00 hour. and you're right ur you mentioned it patco may say there's 15 minute delays that does not tell the picture of 15 minute delays because they take a train out of service the domino affect of all those other trains being stacked and packed passioning the passengers on the platforms. i would not be surprised if this morning, obviously everybody will be on their best behavior but if commuter has a car, if it was me, i would probably drive to work today, because i was late yesterday getting work. i was late getting home and the boss may not be as lenient two days in a row as he was yesterday. now, septa ream nal rails this morning getting out of the gate no problems. what makes matters worth with patco, yesterday we had a little drizzle in the morning. we normally always have weather delays when we have a weather issue. so, you're almost banking we'll have delays to begin with and of course that will we're seeing a little bit of rain around allentown. we had reports earlier about 2bg in the morning of freezing rain up in the mount pocono area. so there could be some slippery spots and fwlaiz maybe the northern part of our area. you may see a stray shower or two. but, again the sun will try to break through later on and by tomorrow morning we'll have a few temperatures close to freezing again up poconos, freezing rain, possibility of black ice out. there and here's a little snapshot of the whole patco scene airo. five trains were taken out of service between 7:30 and 8:30 during the morning rush hour mainly because of braking problems. thursday we had a smoke-filled train at the ferry avenue station. they had to shut down the pour this more and that caused domino delay for rest of morning rush hour and week prior to that we had the smoky train here in philadelphia in the city hall tunnels underneath the station. they were the last three incident we've been dealing with patco remains to be scene how we'll roll out of the gate this morning. wilmington, media, all the regional rails getting out of the gate with no major delays this morning. i think we can factor in a slower than normal commute naturally because of the weather conditions. and here's what it looks likes when you head out front. live look. this is route 202 near the chester brook boulevard interest exchange and we have wet roads and wipers on and dealing with really thick fog in some spots. so, grab an extra pop tart for the ride in thomas, back to yo you. >> bob, thoonk you, time now 4:19 following there is still rain around and it's very spo spotty and it's out there. and again, where it's colder there could be a little bit of preez freezing rain. be careful there. part of south jersey getting rain. that lipingers throughout the wrist of the morning and we're hoping for sunshine. enough to get us into the 50s by the end of the day. our surprise set time is 5:04 karen. >> let's get to what we were telling you about. patco working to get things back to normal after a lot of disruptions yesterday and headaches and in the meantime passengers are dealing with basically a lot of problems. let's get out to steve keely with -- look a lot of precipitation coming down our your head, steve, good morning. >> we have more bad weather and i don't know if that's going to affect the trains again. last week it was snow that caused problems and maybe this week it was rain. and but one und occasions we're seeing maybe it's not bad indication i'm not train business but along the tracks in prairie avenue we're hearing banging noises and two minutes ago we saw one of the repaired trained going back and forth slowly and hoping everything on the tracks was a-okay. it's still early in the morning. not a lot of commuters yet. you have to wonder if commuters will drive all the way to philadelphia just sick and tired of all the problems for the past two weeks and the head of port authority train compan company, that's acronym, patco, everybody knows it as, it's also run by the delaware river port authority another ab anymore drpa, any jp way, put out a public written apology yesterday after first two days of this week saw same delays breakdowns and angry rider tweets as last week. and whip of the quotes i pulled is in recent weeks we have failed to provide the level of service you expect and deserve and patco gm statement was titled our number one goal provide safe, convene and timely service and convene and timely part of that has not been met the last couple weeks even at his own admission and he said we're sorry as he opened apology with the recent level of service and provided a still picture of the big train garage usually in linden wald where he said so many repairs and replacement parts are right now explaining 21 new motors were replaced since january on trains and each bun he said takes lots of hours. he really went into detail to explain the repairs going on. and he says we're monitoring customer feedback and heard the frustration of passengers and if you're on twitter you're seeing pictures of people in packed trains and you can read their frustrations and one of the things they're angry about is not just the problems on the trains and platforms but the explanations from patco when they do their own tweet saying hey there's a 15 minute delay. these 15 minute delays are more than an hour owe a lot of time times. bob kelly you're an expert on this and you have seen this a lot and who knows -- who knew they needed all new motors suddenly. i don't know if snow burned out the motors last week but there's a whole lot of work going on in lindenwald apparently all weekend. >> if this just happened yesterday i could understand. it but this has been an ongoing situation. again the trains are old. obviously motors are old and you're right, when they put out alert such as yesterday when one of the trains, the smoke from underneath was pulled out of service that created what they called a 15 minute delay. it doesn't really tell the whole story because domino affect of that one train pulled out of service could create hour delays and packed trains for folks standing on platform waiting for the train to come by only to see it when i buy stacked and packed and not able to get on. here's the deal five trains yesterday morning alone in the morning rush hour taken out of it was service. five trains between 7:0 and:0. thursday, we had a smoky train at the ferry avenue station during the morning rush. that forced them to shut down power for over an hour causing a domino delay. so folks were late for work on thursday. and then take you back on monday we had smoke at the train here in philadelphia at the city hall station. that one during the evening rush hour. so fe had it up to here as they say with patco app i would not be surprised as steve mentioned folks will jump in the car and say you know what the boss has had it i cannot be late or work or more importantly coming home being late picking kids up. here's a live look at 95 you see the steady, heavy rain hitting us hard and plus we're dealing with fog out there as well. so a lot going on just take it easy this morning as you step out that front door. karen, thomas back to you. >> 4:36 there's a reward this morning to help catch the group that attacked a soldier on new year's day. philadelphia police and citizens crime commission is offering $7,000 for information that leads to arrest and conviction aix group of men attacked austin third and/or or while leaving mummers parade. the 19-year-old you saw a moment ago there suffered severe facial injuries. >> 4:36 police are investigating a whole stripping of origed robbys in university city. >> students are on high alert after four separate incidences of people robbed at gun point. lauren johnson is on the site where it went down, lauren. >> the division of public safety said we need to send out an alert to everyone in the area. it went out 11 a.m. after the show was on the air. we'll show you the area police are focusing their investigation west of penn campus and patrol zone. it's area seep on map between 43 and 47 between spruce street and cedar avenue. the alert sent out warping the penn community philly police is investigating four recent armed robberies and first happening 8:30 monday night the robber was busy preying on people until 7:00 the following morning police believe the same suspect is involved in all robbyes based on people providing a very similar description to investigators. patrols have been beefed up in this area as a result of crime crimes. penn now ago people to sign up and download the pin guardian app. and it can save people in case of emergency. so police can find out exactly where they're located. thomas, karen. >> absolutely. we have obviously both university of pennsylvania and drexel over there. thank you, lauren. >> time now 4:38 democratic lawmakers maying threatening to boycott don bell's ininauguration but it is not stopping one local democrat. >> that is a tradition he's been doing 76 years and it will continue. >> let's introduce you to b. harold schmidt jr. he start add tending back in 1941 when franklin roosevelt took the both of office and has not missed one yet. he collects souvenirs and most memories are stored in his head. while the presidents may change one thing that's almost certain at every up august ration is cold weather. >> you know i wear long underwear and i wear foot warmers. >> you know how to dress for the event. >> indeed. >> he's our leader i'm 100% for him. if he succeeds our family will succeed, too, smickle lumber. >> we'll be live in washington d.c. beginning thursday. and of course all day introducing megared advanced 4in1... just one softgel delivers the omega-3 power of two regular fish oil pills... so give your body mega support with megared advanced 4in1. >> welcome back fol a developing story north of dallas, text where a police officer was shot and killed. detective jerry walk egger was responding to a call about a man with a gun in a residential neighborhood. the man started yelling the officers and ran inside his house and began firing shot. one of the bullets struck walker in the neck. the suspect was killed during a standoff with police. >> accused cop killer is in custody finally after a wee week-long manhunt in orlando. marquise lloyd had a bloody face when officers took him to police headquarters last night and he was arrested at aban zoned home. he was wanted for shooting death of his exgirlfriend when lieutenant debra clayton arochd him last week in walmart parking lot she was shot to death and another died in the car accident during the search for that suspect. >> and the philadelphia area topped a national list. we are number one for rampant rodents. >> it makes your skin recall. >> we have more here than any other big city and we may know the reason remember the old commercial the old carton we had coming up in a couple minutes. >> wednesday, we're halfway lay there. 4:45 put the fog lights on this morning and be ready for days. this is a live look at the schuylkill expressway near gulph mills. again spray kicking up and rain and fog. it will be one of those crazy, slow, yucky morning rush hours as we kickoff there in king of prussia. coming in from south jersey ben franklin bridge. wet behind here. there's no wind here as the nraling on top of toll plaza indicates what's going on there. but, speed restrictions on all of the area bridges because of the rain and the fog that we're dealing with during the morning rush hour. expect weather delays down in philly international and if you fly down in around philly this morning i would check with airline to play it safe and as sue tells us in a moment the further you go off extension there's freezing rain and black ice. mother nature is giving it all to us this morning. septa, no problems at the moment on any regional rail lines. whenever we have rain and soon to follow will be scattered delays and slippery rails and platforms on the steps boarding buses and trains could be a little slippery. here's snapshot for patco. again what happens today remains to be seen. steve is over there fairy avenue station. yesterday we had five trains taken out of service during the morning rush hour because of smoke from under the carriage and on thursday that smoke from the train ferry avenue shut down power during the morning rush hour and then flashback to last monday where we had smok smoke-filled train that shut down the system during the evening rush hour underneath philadelphia's city hall. and so i think todayfy was using patco i know it's not easily for everybody and if you have a vicky think today i would probably be driving to work instead of giving patco a run just to see what happens. but, obviously that's not the answer for everybody. conshohocken route 23 and balladomingo road. sue has the answer of how long balladomingo road. sue has the answer of how long the rain will stick ra round. >> ultimate doppler tells the tale of lots of moisture aroun around. we're not in new eng land where they have snow instead of rain. if you love snow that's disappointing a guess. we have airs of rain moving through including normalen town there. we're seeing light rain. and in fact just about every place the rain is kind of on the light side. we have a heavy downpour or two moving out after cross philadelphia and the river into parts of dmrosster and burlington county and parts of ac expressway getting rain as well. how long will this linger, it's tough. because you're going to see showers probably through 6, 7, 8:00 and they're isolated and clouds that is what will linger throughout the day. but each as late as 10:00 we cocoa still see isolated showers. the sun tries to come out later in the day we'll see if that happens and if so we'll get to 50, 52 and then we head to thursday which looks like best weather day of the week. plenty of sunshine. skies clear out:00 in the the morning and it looks like sun stays with us all day long. and then we start to talk about friday. friday starts out okay with plenty of sunshine and clouds roll in and by noon on friday this is when the inauguration is happening in washington it looks like they will be seeing some rain at least it's pretty likely noon arrives for us later in the day. visibility rights now is not great in a lot of places, atlantic city airport, mil millville, new jersey, dover is foggy right now. so is reading, trenton, up in mount pocono six miles visibility at philly international. we'll keep an eye on that. it's only 33 mount pocono as bob kelly mentioned slippery conditions up there and freezing ice overnight and freezing rain overnight which made for icy conditions and like everybody else we're dealing with rain. 43 is the average high temperature and each day since the weekend we tried to inch above average successfully. we should reach around 50 if we get enough sunshine today and 5 excellent weather day and tomorrow late rain friday and mostly cloudy skies on saturday. chance of showers returning on sunday and into monday and even tuesday but at least temperatures will be mild enough that everybody will only see rain. got is it? >> how do you feel about rats and mice. >> um. >> you said it all right there. >> i like animals. >> not these little buggers here. guess what, philly tomd a national list. >> we're number one. but no bragging rights on this one. according to new census data our region, which includes camden, wilmington and suburbs has highest percentage of homes with rodents. >> you heard it right. main streets of new york city have
