in toward, pennsylvania, so be ready there is a speed restriction on the bridgette self paw of that tractor trailer and expect delays again through the weekend a long route 30 right there on the campus of villanova with that construction. otherwise mass transit the a off to a good start. lauren, back over to you. breaking news out of northeast philadelphia, a i a would be robber end up in the hospital after targeting the wrong family. a mother trying to protect her family pulls the trigger. fox 29's sabina kuriakose live at northeast detectives with this woman's act of bravery, hi sabina. >> reporter: good morning, lauren this pastor's wife was packing some heat. she was able to defend her family from what police are describing asiana alleged robbers. lets look at video from the scene this robbery happen at 11:00 last night in the 1100 block of pratt street in the frankford section of the city. police say this family, a husband, wife and their 12 year-old son were just getting home when they pulled into their drive way and they were could be fronted by this man holding a rifle. they say that the guy tried to rob them. that is when the 48 year-old husband told the suspect he didn't have any money. well, the guy didn't like that very much so he took his rifle and allegedly jammed it in the face of the husband and that is when the wife reacted. she reached into her purse. she pulled out a licensed handgun as she is permitted to carry and fired off one shot, enough to hit the guy in the leg and he took off running. the husband tried to chase him down but get this the the guy jumped on to a passing suv and held on by floor board that thing you step on to get in and out of the car. well, the guy got a way but wasn't getting a way very long because police had a description of the guy. they looked around. they found the guy limping from the gunshot wound, going toward the hospital and they took him in custody. he is being treated right now. we did talk to police when it happened and here's the update that they gave us. >> it appears to be justifiable shooting at this time. it appears to be a good job, good job done by police and where this 48 year-old male was struck in the head was right outside of his house and it was also just a few feet away from the church that is next to his house where this 48 year-old male just happens to be the pastor of that church. this appears to be i stranger, robbery. why this individual picked this family at this location which is a normally very quiet area, we just don't know. >> reporter: again, this morning police still trying to figure out exactly those answers, that suspect still in the hospital and police do have him in custody. we are told family is doing okay, coming up in about a half an hour, wearing, you see there on the the right. it reads king. >> is there only one person involved in these thefts and it is a concern for law enforcement to recover these 17 guns and arrest the individual reached 1.9 million-dollar settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit. bland's mother says it is an agreement that brought joy after a year of grief. settlement includes compensation for bland's death in in july 2015. police in columbus, ohio says an officer shot and killed a 13 year-old boy after the teenager pulled out a bee-bee gun. officers were responding to an armed robbery at the time. wednesday night police say they spot three dollars males matching description of the the robbery suspect. two of them ran off. after running into an alley, police say 13 year-old tyre king pulled weapon out later determined to be a bee-bee gun. one officer shot the teen repeat thely. the boy died at the hospital. the officer is white. the boy was black. police did not the say if the officers were wearing body cameras. out of new york city police are dealing with the aftermath of the violent attack there, a man went after an off-duty detective with the the meat cleaver before police shot off. several others joined the chase including the detective who tried to tackle him. that man slashed the detective's face leaving a 6-inch cut. police fired 18 times hitting the man twice. the of them received a very significant injury to his face at which time based on the preliminary investigation the officers fired sufficient rounds to stop the attack. >> the suspect is in critical for them outside their home. this is video from 11:00 o'clock when it happened on the 1100 block of pratt street this pastor's wife shot the gun man who confronted her family in the driveway of their home after he had struck her husband in the face with the butt of her gun. she was able to shoot the sus he can in the leg and police used family's description of the the man to track him down. here's chief inspector scott small. >> it was a unique description because they said that the suspect was an older male possibly in the 50's or 60's wearing a black shirt and orange shirts with the white stripe. >> highway patrol in the area went and checked aria frankford hospital which is about a mile away from this location to see if any shooting victims showed up and right outside the hospital in the 4900 block of frankford avenue they saw a male fitting the description limping. when they approached this male wearing orange shorts with the white stripe they saw he was bleeding from his right leg. >> again that suspect a 66 year-old man, police say he had no connection to the family, and this was a pastor his wife and young son. it happened at their house right next door to their church. shoot-out on the atlantic city expressway. wilbur, now faces three weapons possession charges. investigators say he showed up at the hospital with the bullet wound to the arm right after the gun fight. they also say that his blood matched blood found inside a truck used inside that shoot-out. one person was killed when gunman in three vehicles shot at each other on the ac expressway back on august 29th. nearly two weeks after a robber shot him in the head an atlantic city police officer has left the hospital. officer josh vadell still has months of rehab ahead of him. he was responding to a robbery on september 3rd when he stepped out of the patrol car, a rob are shot him. officers at the scene shot and killed one of the suspects and arrested two others. lots of lines outside apple who are now investigating. fedex told fox 29 what the driver appeared to do is against company policy. in a statement they said fedex takes security of our customer shipments very seriously. we are
