five-year-old girl here. >> we conducted immediate forensic interviews at philadelphia's children allian alliance. both children disclosed they were indeed sexually assaulted by the offender. >> my son has been going here for two and a half years. for two and a half years i've been dropping him off here five days a week. i've also been popping in here all random hours of the day. never anything suspicious happening here. >> reporter: police say round was arrested on charges of rape, deviant sexual intercourse, sexual assault, indecent exposure and other related counts. the facility is still open. >> we went out to the location the daycare execute add search warrant and processed the scene with crime scene unit and we did recover some physical evidence on location there. >> something did happen to these kids that is horrible but it didn't happen here and did he didn't do it. >> if any parents believe their children were victimize contact us here at special victims. >> duncan round is from medford lakes, new jersey. no word on when he will be arraigned on those charges and no word and how high the bail may be set. much more on this story coming up tonight at 10:00 and 11:00. dawn? >> we'll see you then. thank you, dave. to your fox 29 weather authority now. a live look at wilmington on a soggy wednesday night. we are seeing showers and pop-up thunderstorms all over the region. definitely need to keep that umbrella handy. >> yeah. scott how we looking out there? >> a lot of heavy downpours right now iain and dawn especially south and east now of the philadelphia area. in particular, parts of south jersey right now we'll zoom in you can see sections of burlington county, also atlantic county. where you see the red we're looking at rainfall rates here over 2-inches per hour. so blinding rain right now along the ac expressway. we'll zoom in a little closer. egg harbor city, mays landing, mullica moving toward the folsom area hammonton looking at blinding rainfall sections of atlantic county. starting to see some improving conditions around center city. old city. most of the heavy rainfall now shifting toward barrington, cherry hill, bucks a wet go along the new jersey turnpike also 295 through sections of camden county and also burlington county. airport delays about two and a half hours right now at the philadelphia international airport. stale lot of lightning with this activity as well. so coming up, we'll talk much more about this really unsettled pattern for the remainder of the week. back over to you. >> all right. scott. crazy. route 70 closed in both directions breaking news right now in the marlton area. wires are down because of the severe weather that's ripping through burlington county right now. those wires came down about an hour ago. you can see traffic is diverted off the highway there. the good news is, there nor reports of any injuries and of course we'll stay on top of this and bring you the latest. you saw this first on fox. a man sworn to protect and serve allegedly put a lot of people in danger this morning. it happened in north philadelphia early this morning. people couldn't believe their eyes. a jeep came ping-ponging off a parked cars before daylight. >> behind the wheel, police tell us an off duty police officer drunk. this on a busy street typically filled with lots of traffic and lots of children. fox 29's joyce evans is live at police headquarters tonight to fill us in. joyce? >> reporter: well, dawn and iain, the owners of those cars spent their day dealing with the damages but the accused officer, he spent his day right behind me here at the round house being processed on a dui charge. we are hoping to still get his name and mug shot soon. >> it could have been ten times worse. >> reporter: luckily, nobody was hurt. it was 5:30 in the morning. >> i'm like, wow. >> reporter: owners of these cars not so lucky. >> it was like two across the street. i'm thinking it's one right there. i'm not too sure if that one got had the inn my neighbor's car was right there. that one got hit, too report an motorcycle, too. all banked up by this car. own was behind the wheel on sixth street near oxford. >> he was in fact off duty status and operates his privat privately on the other hand owned vehicle and he struck four park cars in that area. >> reporter: then according to startled neighbors the driver stumbled out of this jeep and assured them everything is okay. he's a cop. >> he did summit to the breathalyzer and his blood alcohol content according to the breathalyzer was .198. >> reporter: not okay. >> he's over twice the legal limit. >> reporter: the captain says, the 40-year-old 22nd district officer has been on the philadelphia police force four years. >> he wasn't working, and this would have been have been his shift but i'm not sure that early in the morning where he was going or from. >> reporter: now the captain says that the officer is being placed on desk duty for now. but he says that could change as the investigation goes on. one thing he says is for sure he will not be behind the wheel of any city vehicle any time soon. iain? >> joyce, thanks. happening now, a 21st birthday celebration in center city takes a scary turn. police say it all started with a lyft ride home from a bar early this morning. but the passenger now claims she was taken on a wild and dangerous ride. our bruce gordon is live in center city outside the bar where this all strange story started. bruce? >> reporter: yeah, dawn, if you're a young person these days and you've been out partying till the wee hours, you grab yourself a cab or more likely uber or lyft it's what you do. well a delaware county woman says that's what she does early this morning with hair-raising results. >> brittany could we talk to you for just a moment? >> 31-year-old brittany law in the pink top was in no mood to talk further after being interviewed by upper darby police wednesday morning. this after an incredible pre-dawn ride through philly and delco that ended with allegations of robbery and abduction. her father was on hand to escort her home. >> i tell was i lost a few years of my life this morning. you see a few more gray hairs in that head. [ laughter ] >> they weren't there this morning. >> reporter: upper darby police law and her younger sister admit they were drinking heavily while celebrating the sister's 21st birthday at a center city bar. around 3am law claims she used the lyft app to get the women safely home to haverford township. a black four door sedan arrived to pick them up. law told them the driver stopped on route at the sunoco a plus on west chester pike in upper darby gave the younger sister money to buy him a bottle water so he can take his medication. police superintendent michael chitwood. >> she's in the store about three or four minutes. she comes back out. the vehicle is gone. the driver is gone. her sister is gone. >> reporter: chitwood says law claimed the drive whom she described as a black man with some kind of accent, 25 to 30 years old, drove her around and then demanded she give up her cell phone and money. she says she refused. >> he then grabbed her phone and grabbed her credit card, debit card. then threw her out of the car, truck her out of the car and threw her out of the car. he took off. >> reporter: that was on the 100 block of sham employs in philadelphia where law called police and the investigation into her claims began. the women's father says they often use lyft after being out drinking. >> they're responsible adults and if they go to the bars they don't want to drive. they're being responsible so that's -- that's why they do it. this is what the end result was today. it's sad. really is. you can't trust anybody any mo more. >> reporter: incredible situation. philadelphia police are of course conducting an investigation into this incident as well. interviewing these two passengers and in a statement lyft says they're cooperating with the authorities but they say a check of their system does not show a lyft ride that matches the time, place and vehicle described in these allegations. so at this point, dawn, it is not clear whether this was a phony lyft driver, an impersonator, if you will, or whether there's somehow more to the story. still checking it out. >> keep us posted, bruce. thank you. in a room in newark, new jersey, 4700 guns were piled up today and law enforcement well they're smiling. it's what new jersey's attorney general says is a record hall from a two-day gun by back in the garden state's three largest cities. on friday and saturday of last week residents were offered cash for guns in newark, trenton and camden. no questions asked. it's what law enforcement says is part of a multi pronged evident to cut out gun violence. nearly $500,000 handed out to residents for their weapons. the people of camden were the big winners handing over some 2100 guns. another 1700 came from trenton included on the table 129 assault weapons. >> those are weapons of war. those are weapons that were designed to kill as many people as possible as quickly as possible. those weapons are no longer on the streets of new jersey. >> new jersey's attorney general says local and state law enforcement are also pairing up with federal prosecutors to hammer gun criminals with longer sentences and state judges are denying them bail. a developing story from the white house tonight. joined by senators tom cotton and david perdue today, president trump. now is your chance to repent or repay should i say. drivers who have driven through the pennsylvania turnpike tolls without paying have until friday night to pay their current fines or they will risk having their vehicle registrations suspended. the turnpike had debuted its amnesty program last month with reduced fees for those who pay. and since then, more than 1600 violators forked over more than a million dollars in fines. a global is looking to create new jobs. >> it wants to do it right in this very area. amazon look to go higher 50,000 new employees as part of its first annual amazon jobs day. today was essentially one large job fair held across a dozen different amazon warehouses one of the locations robbinsville, new jersey, where amazon was look to go fill 15,000 new jobs. those jobs being offered are in packaging, sorting and shipping. these kids in montgomery county are showing off their creative side at an art exhibit. it's what they worked so hard for all summer at camp dan is the big reveal at the montgomery county community college in blue bell. celebration puts smiles on the faces of families who really needed it. it's part of a child's plan to give lower income kids the opportunity and all little ones deserve to go to summer camp. back to your fox 29 weather authority. as we take live look at trenton. some slow-moving thunderstorms still moving through parts of the region. let's get on over to meteorologist scott williams for the details. scott? >> hi there dawn. at least for the next couple of hours or so a lot of this activity driven by the daytime heating. so after about 8:00 o'clock, most of what's left through parts of south jersey will dissipate so that will be some good news if you have some of those wednesday evening plans. but certainly as we look at ultimate doppler we're done with the rainfall yet. look at all of the heavy rainfall right now through sections of south jersey, burlington county, ocean county, sections of atlantic county. we'll kind of zoom in. you can see very heavy rainfall if you're headed away from philadelphia down the ac expressway. use caution on the roads because we do have a lot of ponding, wet conditions. but once again, the coverage and intent is the will diminish over the next couple of hours. still heavy rainfall, though, moving through sections of cumberland county, bridgeton, cedarville, millville looking at some of the heavier rainfall. still pretty quiet, though, atlantic city, down the shore, some of this will clip the area, but once again, a lot of it will simply diminish as we lose the daytime heating. lightning was a big problem out of the showers and thunderstorms along with gusty winds at the airport 45 miles per hour gusts, king of prussia some lightning, white marsh as well. potential damage with house fire in marlton, also, mt. laurel looking at some structural damage. so how much rain have we seen? anywhere from one to 2-inches that has prompted some flood advisories now through sections of south jersey, haddonfield, millville, hammonton into sections of kent county around the dover area watching for ponding and run off. so over the next couple of hours, most of the rainfall south and east of philadelphia north and west starting to dry out. if you have some of those outdoor plans once again you can see over night tonight we're dry but muggy. tomorrow morning we start dry, then during the heat of the day more pop-up showers and thunderstorms especially north and west of the philadelphia area. we should be okay tomorrow down the shore. high temperatures mid to upper 80s before that rainfall kind of cooled the atmosphere. case in point, low 70s right now across much of the inland areas due to all of that heavy rainfall. temperatures tonight, mid to upper 60s. it stays muggy. tomorrow hour by hour, 84 degrees by noon. upper 80s near 90 again tomorrow with more pop-up showers and storms. down the shore, looking pretty good. low 80s. maybe an isolated pop-up late in the day but i think most of the shore points will be dry. 90 degrees tomorrow. 88 on friday. then a cool front moves in for the upcoming weekend. maybe an early shower saturday. but low 80s for the weekend into early next week. looking pretty good. sean, over to you. >> pete rose. >> yeah. >> every time he's about to be let back in baseball, something pops up. something stupid. the phillies doing the right thing with this whole pete rose situatio. we'll have the latest on his wall of fame induction plus the eagles hear from guy trying to make the team despite not very good odds. that's coming up next in sports. hello, peco. so i'm calling to see if you can help me save on my energy bill. we can do that. great. i live in a post-war, pre-war, mid-century home and the heating system is a turbine, hvac, reverse hydrogen, boiler pipe unit. well sir, i can see that you live in a twin and based on the size, your usage has been spiking. ♪ that's exactly what i thought. if you're not an expert, peco can help. we have lots of ways to help you save energy and money. peco. the future is on. ♪ every time baseball is about to let pete rose back in he does something stupid to mess it up. this time it was something old come back to light. he's accused of having sex with underaged girl back in the 70's and because of that the phils are doing the right thing in canceling his wall of fame ceremony. next weekend is the alumni weekend and it was supposed to be all about rose. bobble heads, wall of fame, everything. but now rose will not be atten attending and put out statement basically saying he understands why the ceremony is canceled and respects the decision. the phils still haven't ruled out the possibility of doing the ceremony in the future. to the phils game last night, they lost to the angels seven-one but check out this emotional roller coaster of a night for drew anderson. okay. he was called up to the majors just for this game and he let up two runs but his last batter of the game was mike trout and he struck him out. the best player in baseball. but then after that, he was sent right back down to the minors. to the eagles and training camp the team went from having no wide receiver death to actually having a lot this off season. you can see that when green-beckham was released before camp even started. there's a lot of guys that have a chance to make this team one of those guys is marcus johnson. he can be the surprise dude for the squad he's 6-foot one wide out with good size, good hands and he ran a 4.340 he has some wheels. he has all the tools to make this roster today he talk about how he's trying to navigate through a crowded situation. >> to be honest the first day that i got here i knew that would be something -- it would be uphill fight every day. like i always tell people, i take it one day at a time. i just present the best version of myself each and every day and like i said you know, what i present the best i show, it will take care of itself and i have to continue to build on that. check this out. tray burton had little man at practice today. that's jack burton two-yer-old the kid already a natural putting on the pads trying to be like his pops. running around. >> aww. >> little future footballer right there. little jackson burton. >> oh, my gosh. >> different types of jerseys. >> him and darrin sproles they about the same height. >> i like it. >> so cute. >> shout out to tray. >> absolute. join us tonight for more fox 29 news. you enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. you better stock up. why prices are going up in pennsylvania liquor stores. more thon tonight at 10:00. >> that will do it for us at 6:00. >> we'll see you back here at 10:00 o'clock. have a great night. thanks for watc watching. i witness is up next. see you at 10:00.
