Im told at around 7 00 oclock this Morning Police got a call about a gunman firing multiple shot noose the air at a baseball practice for congressional leader. Im told they were practicing here for the congressional baseball game thats taking place tomorrow in d. C. Now again, shots rang out. People im told were shielding themselves out on the field. Five people im told were shot as well including the representative steve scalise. House majority whip steve scalise. Another one of his colleagues, two Capitol Police officers and another colleague as well. Now, im also told that if it werent for the two Capitol Police officers who were there at the time that this was all unfolding, that the situation could have progressed and turned out much differently. So right now gratitude toward them. Krysten, this did not seem at all random there was an interesting he can change of words between the gunman and a couple of congressmen, correct . Reporter right. So two of the congressional leaders reported they were leaving practice early at the time, and they remember encountering this alleged gunman, 66yearold James Hodgkinson of illinois and they remember him coming up to them and asking specifically, are that democrats or republicans playing on this field . And they answered republicans here, and so they didnt think anything of it at the time they said. It wasnt until they drove away, turned on the radio and heard on the news that there was, you know, multiple gunshots taking place.
