county tonight. gunfire in an abington neighborhood and one man discovered dead after the shooting. >> tonight the search for his killer is already well underway. fox 29's shawnette wilson on the scene in abington. shawnette, what are you hearing? >> well a neighbor who tells me that she is close to the family says that the victim is a 73-year-old man. she says that he is also a marine veteran. police are telling us he was shot to death in this home behind me. so at this hour, investigators remain on the scene gathering evidence from around the home. we haven't heard much from police except that when it happen the gunman we're told got away in toyota. a neighbor who says she notice the victim and his wife for more than 40 years says the wife came out of the home screaming saying that someone the couple knew came to the house and shot her hub. >> she said someone rang the doorbell and they opened the door she knew who it was. she was crying and upset. she didn't know he was dead. >> reporter: and so again back here live, you can see behind me that investigators remain on the scene. still processing some evidence that appears right on the porch of the home. again, not much information from police at this hour. it's unclear whether the suspect is in custody or at the hospital. we did have some more close friends of the family come to the scene just moments ago from what they are telling us they are saying that the suspect is in police custody possibly in the hospital again none that confirmed from police. we will bring you the latest on that as soon as we get it. back to you. >> all right, shawnette, thank you. homeless man is in jail charged in the death of a psychiatrist. philadelphia police have arrested this man 27-year-old manuel baez. he is now charged with the murder of 75-year-old howard baker. the doctor was found dead inside the rodeway inn in center city on monday. he died of strangulation. police say on sunday baker told his wife he was heading out to watch the eagles game at a bar. but investigators say instead he went to the hotel, check in and had two male visitors. in southwest philadelphia, a stolen car crash noose a trolley injuring more than two dozen people. the crash happened just before 9:30 on 49th street. philadelphia police say two men driving a stolen vehicle were trying to make turn when it collided with the trolley. one of the men inside the car was trapped and had to be rescued. both men right now are in critical condition at hahnemann hospital. 26 passengers were also taken to the hospital with minor injuri injuries. philadelphia police are after two men they say robbed a clothing store. surveillance cameras were rolling three days ago inside this city blue outlet store in juniata park. investigators say one of the masked men pull out a gun demanded cash and shouted, don't know one be a hero. witnesses say the robbers also ordered everyone to turn over their phones. but instead of taking them, too, police say they through the phones towards the back of the store. we don't know how much cash they got and police say they're also looking for a silver or tan get away car. happening right now, a man at a daycare accused of of horrible things. this bucks county man is now in jail. police say 10 years ago he sexually assaulted at least one girl at his wife's daycare and they're very worried he has more victims. fox 29's brad sattin joins us live from the falls township police depth. brad? >> reporter: lucy, we can tell you that the alleged crimes here happened over a decade ago. in fact, this man used to work with his wife at this daycare. they are no longer together, but any of these alleged incidents at this point would have been at least a decade ago. still there's no statute of limitations so police are following up on this incident after one woman in her 20s has come forward. she obviously was much younger 10 years ago. since then they have also been able to track down they want to talk two additional women and they think other victims are still out there. >> i'm shocked. harry, he always seemed like a really nice guy with the kids. but then again, you never know. you just don't know. >> reporter: but falls township police say they do know about 54-year-old harry lawren lawrence. >> we gathered very quick until this man was a classic pedophi pedophile. >> reporter: this after they say a woman in her 20s has come forward claiming when she was nine or 10 years old she had been sexually molested between six and 12 times by lawrence inside his home. he and his now ex-wife who no knowledge of the alleged crimes ran the little joys daycare there. we're not identifying the house on the 200 block of vernon road in morrisville because that no longer own it but police allege that lawrence got children in a secluded basement and inappropriately touch them. >> the woman who ran it was very well respect the. she's very well liked. she seem like she was outgoing. we don't believe she had anything to do with this, but, you know, here someone close to her is abusing these kids while nobody is watching. >> reporter: police say have already identified two other possible victims and they can't rule out possible abuse dating back to the 1990's when the daycare was run in levittown's golden ridge neighbor. >> there's more victims out there. that are probably in their late teens now or early 20s. we're hoping that they step forward. >> reporter: the news now has this man worried. >> it's sad. it's sick. my kids went to this daycare. and they were infants when they went to the daycare and they went there till they were about four or five years old. so i have concerns. maybe my kids may have been touched. >> reporter: obviously that man says he plans to talk to his kids about that tonight. we know that lawrence is a officially been charged with aggravated indecent assault of a child. he is tonight in the bucks county prison bail has been set at $250,000. iain and lucy. >> all right, thank you very much, brad. the family avenue new jersey state trooper killed in the dine of line of duty now has said their final goodbyes. joining trooper eli mccarson's familiar and his funeral fellow troopers and police officers from across the area. they gathe gathered to pay resps for the 30-year-old at rowan university. mccarson died when his cruiser crashed into a utility pole in quinton township last week. he had only been on the job for 10 months hadn't just been married in september. troops in afghanistan are paying their respects to their comrades who died this week in a suicide attack. they held a service today at bagram airfield the largest us military base in the country. six americans lost their lives in the attack. the tal pan claimed responsibility for this week. two of those killed were from new york. one was a former member of the nypd. the other was still active and as we told you last night, one of those killed was montgomery county native pennsylvania congressman brendon boil is one of the many honoring staff sergeant peter taub today. a statement from the congressman reads in part "we are grateful to him for giving the ultimate sacrifice and service of our nation. my thoughts and prayers are with his wife, daughter, family and fellow service members. >> new jersey judge wants to put the breaks on a law allowing a local hospital to take over emergency medical services in camden. governor christie's administration passed legislation this summer granting cooper university hospital the exclusive control of emergency medical services in camden. virtua which operates three hospitals in the area sued the state after the bill passed. superior court judge ordered the state not to i policemen the law. cooper says it expects an appeal court to review the decision. the driver of this mangled suv says she is so lucky to still be here ton night she's on the hunt for the young couple time for christmas the story of a mystery couple who decided in a split second no time to waste that a stranger in need was worth their time, their help and their compassion. >> i had guardian angels with me that night. >> reporter: chelsea baker knows the tire tracks and broken tree limbs and shattered car parts only hint at the severity of the accident that could have taken her life late late more complete story. >> when i first saw the pictures eyeballed my eyes out. >> reporter: chelsea says she was southbound on the blue route just north of mcdade boulevard when another driver cut her off. she lost control and veered into a grove with trees. bruised and concussed trapped in the wreckage she blackout. only to be awakened by the sound of a stranger's voice. >> calling mow sweetheart, letting me know i was okay. that i shouldn't move. just in case. >> report roar young couple man an woman driving behind chelsea had seen the accident. quickly pulled over to help. she remembers the man's actions specifically. >> calming influence. >> yes, yes, just tried to keep me awake because i cep going in and out of consciousness, and he just cep talking to me. talking to me and talking to me and trying to keep me awake. >> reporter: what does it mean to you for him to be there and stay with you? >> everything. everything. i don't know if anybody was on the highway if he wouldn't have stopped i could have just laid there for hours. >> reporter: the couple called 911. then left the scene shortly after the woodland fire company arrived to rescue chelsea from the wreckage. fire chief mike, remembers the couple and their efforts. >> i think it's very nice. it shows that there is like a human decency like i needed help and you helped me report roar chelsea was briefly hospitalized but is now out. and desperate to meet the young couple who stopped and stayed and held her hasn't. >> i probably burst into tears when i see the guy, because i -- i owe him so much for stopping. >> knocked over her elf on the shelf. see according to the popular children's book the magic of christmas goes away if somebody touches the elf. so she -- she called 911 and told the operator that she well she men to call her damaged the operator says the girl panic when she touched the elf. the police officer who showed up says i'm not mad but honey don't call 911 again for something like that. >> he battled cancer and survived now one local kid is facing another battle but thanks to his school he's getting a whole lot of help. last year 11-year-old jack ibbitson battled through osteo sarcoma. due to the chemo and other complications doctors will have to amputate jack's leg. his family classmates at belmont hills elementary school held a jump a thon all day to raise money for jack' prosthetic leg and other medical bills. our cameras were there as jack's surgery is scheduled for december 30th even though they may not need them right now some local elementary school students got new winter coats today. >> all part of operation warm. philadelphia firefighters and par head dicks local union 22 and others stopped by south philadelphia's elementary to give the coats to 20 children and you can see by all of their smiling faces they were very excited to get a new coat. early christmas present. >> it's always great to see the children. they're eyes just light up. they're very happy to receive a gift. but more importantly we're helping someone in need and we want to help make sure they're warm going to school. >> operation warm hopes to give away at least 100 coats to children in need this year. this is its fourth year running. you know right now, we don't need the heavy winter coat. >> no. we don't even -- tomorrow i don't think you'll need any coat. even me. >> you'll need the short sleeves tomorrow. i mean santa adjusting his wardrobe because of the temperatures. we're talking 70s in the forecast for tomorrow. take look at ultimate doppler right now kind of lit up across the board. especially the eastern half of the us. we have rain up and down the i-95 corridor. take a look at this bulls eye right now. around memphis moving toward kentucky, middleton we're talking severe weather and if you're locking for snow, you have to head around minneapolis as well as parts of iowa with the coldest air with that system still well to the north and west of us. so the bottom line unsettled pattern over the next several days. but also we're looking at some record warmth that christmas forecast temperatures could flirt with 70 degrees. so we do have a wet stretch across the area the next several days. 40% chance for rainfall tomorrow on christmas day about a 30% chance. then on saturday, an 80% chance for some rainfall. so that could impact the linc game with the birds and the redskins. as far as satellite and radar right now, we are socked in witness cloud cover. even a rumble of thunder down the shore. that activity offshore right now with that lightning but we have more pockets of heavy rain continuing to lift up with that conveyor belt of moisture along the eastern seaboard. fairly quite conditions once you head out west. so as we go hour by hour, you can see we're still looking at some rain. so pack some patience. grab the umbrella. watching out for some areas of fog rising temperatures overnight with those winds out of the south and west. then for tomorrow morning it's mostly cloudy. another disturbance off to the west. that could bring a couple of scattered showers maybe a rumble of thunder by tomorrow midday. those temperatures will be in the 70s. then by tomorrow christmas eve at 6:00 o'clock, the cloud cover clears out of here and as we take a look at holiday travel across the nation for tomorrow, moving toward the west coast, temperatures in la tomorrow 60 degrees. so cooler there than here tomorrow. upper 60s in dallas. atlanta temperatures similar to us for tomorrow in the low 70s. but the bottom line it looks like we will have some airport delays not only tonight but again tomorrow with the clouds. temperatures take look. they're in the upper 50s low and mid 60s across the area and they'll rise we're looking at numbers only bottoming out around 66 degrees for the low temperature and look at the christmas eve extremes. the record low was three and our forecast for just smashing the all-time record highs of 64 degrees is 75 degrees. so just rewriting the history books across the area and look at that seven day forecast. it stays mild but it continues to remain unsettled across the area so no snow but we are looking at temperature that is feel a little more like spring. so i mean some folks like it but others are like, what is going on. >> some are ready for snow. >> that el nino pattern. >> that's what it is, man. >> which means that el nino pattern we can get slammed later on. we'll see what happens. hey, howard. >> i'd have 10 degrees non rain than 70 degrees with rain. that's my said to motivate these players? >> bottom if we don't win the game we're not in the playoffs. if that's not incentive enough, then if i got to keep looking for other things after that we're in
