which killed a woman here on saturday. >> racism is evil, and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs. including the kkk, neyo nazis. white supremacists. >> president trump's words coming after he faced intense criticism for not denouncing white nationalist in the aftermath of the incident. 32-year-old heather heyer killed saturday when a car ran into a counter protesters demonstrating against a white nationalist rally. many others suffering injuries. now the larger community in charlottesville also trying to heal from the violence. >> we're saddened by this. we've lost a young person who person who lived here and worked here. she didn't ask for this to happen to her. >> reporter: james fields, jr., charged with second degree murder and other counts related to the car crash. the 20-year-old making his first court appearance from jail via video link. stoic and looking down during the hearing. >> a white nationalist leader outside the courthouse monday blamed the violence over the weekend on law enforcement saying police were given a stand down order and wanted a blood bath. in washington, joel waldman, fox news. >> we have breaking news back here at home. to south philadelphia, where someone tied up an 84-year-old woman with belts in her home. then robbed her. it happened just before 2:00 on the 700 block of south front street. witnesses say she was able to break free started yelling fire. that caught their attention. story is of course still breaking as we said we'll go live to south phil until just a few. double homicide in south philadelphia had police officials left with questions. it was around 11:45 last night when police were called to a home on federal street. there they found two people murdered. police have identified the victims as gonzales and caitlin jay jay. they don't have suspect. they don't have a motive but they've got lot of questions. fox 29's jeff cole has more tonight from south philadelphia. jeff? >> reporter: lucy, all those questions are right and of course police certainly know what this is about. they certainly know that they have got a murder on their hands. what's important to point out, though, is there's no sign of forced entry in the front door or the back door of this structure on federal street. and police know this. they have a double murder to investigate tonight. 11:45 sunday night a family member living on the second floor of 1305 federal street checks on candied dough gonzales and his girlfriend indicate lane jay jay 23 years old. they're brutally beaten. >> both of the victims had bruises to their faces and both of the victims were laying in a pool of blood. >> reporter: police report before midnight struck both had died. while a cause has not been found he is plea say the couple boyfriend and girlfriend scene here on facebook had been assaulted. their first floor apartment ransacked. this morning, there was deep sorrow. >> devastated. >> reporter: why would this happen? >> i don't know. i have no idea. >> reporter: she said she's 50-year-old candied dough gonzales' sister joined by his two cousins they say he has a ten-year-old eddie not home last night and is being cared for by family. they say candied dough was an incredible human being. >> he was mazing. amazing. intelligent. a lot of wisdom. >> reporter: a resident of federal who asked not to be identified says there was heavy traffic in and out of the home and the couple's arguments were often loud. criminal court records show a kandism do gonzales with the same birth date as the victim has a criminal past including a 2004 guilty plea for possession of controlled substances. >> we don't want to go into his past, because at this point, everybody has a past. >> reporter: people were in and out of the three-story brick monday. apparently visiting the grieving family. >> they didn't just kill him and his girlfriend. like you know you killed an entire family. and a community. >> reporter: so the investigation continues tonight. records show that nancy gonzales is the owner of the property. she's his mother. police say they've interviewed the person who found the body and another person who apparently saw something last night. shock in this community in south philadelphia of old homes and flash she knew construction. i'll have more roaring at 6:00. for now i'm live in south philly, jeff cole, fox 29 news. folks? >> all right, we'll talk to you at 6:00 o'clock. thank you, jeff. if hamilton township police are right a man killed his girlfriend and her dog. police found 31-year-old jennifer beers body next to her dogs yesterday in an apartment on south olden avenue. they say 38-year-old daniel tour rex jr., shot her again and again and he was actually still in the apartment when they showed up. we don't yet know why police went that in the first place but we do know torres faces all kinds of charges including murder and cruelty to an animal. still no arrests in block party that erupted in gunfire last night. police were breaking up a crowd when gunshots were heard at a block away at 39th and melon around 11:15 last night. four men were shot. the victims were all taken to different hospitals. they're in stable condition tonight. at least 31 bullets were fired from semi automatic weapon. residents of one philadelphia block are breathing just a little bit easier tonight after the demolition of a neighborhood eye sore. officially the city of philadelphia ordered the row house torn down because of structural concerns but it is clear the address on d street often of kensington avenue had another of other problems as well. our bruce gordon reached out to the city after his first report on this house. now in studio with i'm hoping a happy update, bruce. >> reporter: you got that right. call it addition by subtractions. there is indeed one less home on the 2300 block of d street tonight and all things considered, that's a good thing. one neighbor like many on this block too frightened to talk to us on camera described the demolition of 2823d street as feeling like christmas in august. a gift to those trying to raise a family free of drugs and violence. >> it was really bad. >> reporter: happy to see it go? >> straightened it out. >> what's that. >> i straightened it out. >> you straightened it out. what was it you straightened out? >> everything. >> reporter: the city had already classified this house as unsafe but our report appeared to spur further action. now it's coming down. and neighbors willing to talk are thrilled. >> i was glad to see one less place for them to go and get high. >> reporter: nate feldman watched this tear down with a smile on his face. he owns a pair of rental properties on nearby kensington avenue and has watched the heroin epidemic turn the neighborhood to rubble. >> i've taken eight, ten bodies outer of my building from overdoses at that point they weren't narcan wasn't given. so i've taken a lot of bodies out of the building and it's horrible. >> reporter: now 2823d street will become a vacant lot. at least for while. not a particularly productive use of the real estate but for long-time residents it is indeed addition by sub track. >> it used to be beautiful place where you could have family, you know, very family oriented, but now it's just like, you know, like a trash can around here. >> you're happy to see this thing come down. >> i'm very happy. >> reporter: folks on the block told us when we did our last report they hadn't seen the woman believed to be the owner of 2823d street in many months. there was no sign of an owner today. just the demolition crew and a lot of happy neighbors. let's be very clear. this demo does not solve the bigger problem. drug dealing was white open on the block even while we were there shooting our video today. iain? belts. police are now investigating what happened here. >> she was found right around 2:00 this afternoon. for more let's get out to dave kinchen in south philadelphia. dave? >> reporter: terrifying ordeal for this 84-year-old woman. we're told that a man got in the house confronted the woman, demanded money, got her purse and took money from it. police say it was just before 2:00 p.m. when a man around 30 years old came through the rear of this house on the 700 block of south front street here in queen village we're told he tied up an 84-year-old woman with belts in her basement and stole her cash. a neighbor says the victim was able to break free come up from the basement and shout fire for help to come. neighbors are in disbelief. >> i never would have expected something especially to happen in the middle of the day when someone was home. >> reporter: police say the man also used a dog leash to tie up the woman. we're told she was not hurt thankfully. they're looking for a man who 6-foot one and has a thin build but we do not have more of a specific description there. we can tell there was i was sign on the front door saying a baby was sleeping inside. we don't know if that baby was sleeping inside when this all happened or not. police still sorting out details getting more information on the suspect and looking for him. back to you. >> all right, dave, thank you. let's back to your fox 29 weather authority now. as we take live look at cape may, new jersey, today. >> we got spotty showers popping up here and there. nothing major across our area. meteorologist kathy orr has a full look at your forecast in just 15 seconds. the clouds have even rolled in down the shore. temperatures in the 70s. but from the city to the shore we do have those spotty showers out there. morey's peers looking good. average high this time of year is 86 degrees. in some spots we were pretty close. wilmington made it to 89 today. reading and allentown the 70s. philadelphia 82. so far trenton 80 and atlantic city 82 degrees. right now, with spotty showers we have temperatures falling into the 70s. the poconos 69. pottstown 74. 79 in millville. as we take a wider look through the northeast in new england you can see temperatures in the 70s little bit cool for this time of year. cool day across the region for sure. here's your spotty showers moving n upper level disturbance that's just moving on through and this is -- this is heavy as it will get for the evening period into the overnight. so just some pesky showers through philadelphia the i-95 corridor and this is heading toward the north and the east through south jersey and central jersey. as we look at the probability of precipitation this week, during the day tomorrow, 50% chance but not a lot of rain. then wednesday we go down to t ten. thursday up to about 30% chance avenue showers and thunderstor thunderstorms. and then on friday, showers and thunderstorms likely. so the best bet for the wide defendant coverage of rain will be on friday unfortunately. as we go hour by hour, you can see the showers have moved through. additional showers tomorrow morning. maybe a few isolated thunderstorms. this all moves out with clearing skies slowly but surely late on tuesday. so tuesday occasional showers. mostly cloudy skies. not the best day to be outdoors. the skies will be clearing out and we look at a much better day for wednesday as a matter of fact temperatures warming back up wednesday into the upper 80s to around 90 degrees. so as we go overnight tonight, low temperatures mainly in the 60s with some 70s. wilmington, dover, philadelphia even wildwood in atlantic city bottom out at about 70 degrees. during the day tomorrow, we have the occasional rain. mostly cloudy sky and looking at winds out of the southeast temperatures in the lower 80s across much of the region. down are shot tomorrow mostly cloudy skies. temperatures down the shore ranging from 73 in beach haven to 76 in ocean city and sea isle 75 in north wildwood and cape may with that ocean water temperature still quite warm at 75 degrees. our delaware beaches lewes, rehoboth and bethany southerly winds, land
