bear to see her frightened beloved dog run back into those flames alo alone. >> i just came up and it's just bad. that's all. >> reporter: it cost her her life. but so many pet owners understand why she did it. >> they love their pets. they want to go after their pets. her dogs were her -- were everything to her. >> we always tell people once you're out stay out. i know it's hard to do. you got stay out. >> reporter: well tabatha's husband and her mother-in-law were treated at the hospital for some minor injuries. along with one firefighter. the family here will be helped by the red cross when they get out of the hospital when they need and whatever they need. they said they will be available and right now at this hour, there are groups of fire -- of red cross members here going from joyce evans live in bensalem. thank you very much. delaware county police are investigate a homicide that led to car crash. last night around 11:30 a call about shots fired had officers responding to the 1100 block of brown street in chester. when they arrived they found 30-year-old joseph la torre reshot and he was there in the street. he died at the scene. police say a driver an passenger had driven away from the crash and then crashed into several cars about a mile away on ninth street. surveillance video captured the whole thing. >> me and my wife were sleeping went herd allowed boom, boom, boom, boom. we jumped up. came down. went downstairs and all we seen was cars twisted and turned all over. >> reporter: police have not confirmed the people in the car that crashed are responsible for laetare's death or were also victims of the shooting. nyps mourning the loss of one of its own. police say a gunman ambushed an officer overnight. >> that suspected gunman is now dead. 48-year-old familia was a 12 year member of the force. 34-year-old ex-convict alexander bond shot her to death inside a mobile command post in the bronx it happened around 12:30 in the morning. police shot him about a block away. we're now hearing the frantic 911 call from the officer's partner. we to warn you it is tough to listen to. my partner is shot. >> developing story in lehigh county right now. a woman found dead inside her home in upper macungie township this morning. now the lehigh county coroner's office and state police are trying to figure out how the 58-year-old woman died. the coroner state police and district attorney's office ended up at the fairways at brook side condominiums just after 8:00 this morning where they found the woman's body. an autopsy is scheduled for clouds. temperatures in the 80s today. a far cry from the past three days where we made it into the 90s. atlantic city 85. the same in allentown. wilmington and philadelphia 83. trenton and reading in the lower 80s as well. ultimate doppler we're seeing a few showers firing up to the west. that's just about it. but the main event is to the southwest with a front and we'll see this front lifting northward during the day tomorrow with more showers and a few thunderstorms. 82 right now in philadelphia. the same in wilmington and millville. down the shore we have a bit of a breeze keeping it cooler so tonight, temperatures will be falling through the 80 noose the 70s with that easterly wind at about 7 miles an hour. by 11:00 o'clock, a comfortable 72. and still a little sticky. during the day tomorrow, we're talking about frequent downpou downpours. the sun will be returning in the seven day and we'll look ahead to your weekend forecast. tomorrow not a great day to be outside the and philadelphia. >> and some were in lot worse shape than others let's get out to fox 29's jeff cole whose live in port richmond to help explain what's being done about the problem. jeff. >> reporter: you know, iain, you know how important parks are, and playgrounds are, in tight inner city neighborhoods. today, though, we were sent to take look at a troubled playground in the shadow of the art museum. we took a look at that playground and then we just kept on looking. nanny lisa kinchen brings two-year-old mass so mow to the playground all the time. it's the shade trees which attract them. certainly not the conditions. >> half the park is falling apart and you can't even have your kid walk on the ground without falling into a pothole. >> reporter: the may ground at 23rd and the parkway has deep holes in the safety tarp. but the base of slides and swings there was a busted swing, broken fence, tripping hazards, puddles on the slides and someone is using it as a dump for briquettes was broken glass and backboard torn away. there are hundreds and hundreds of playgrounds in the city. 150 buildings. thousands and thousands of acres of open space. the commissioner says the city works to keep them going and safe but argues it's why the mayor is pressing for his half billion dollar rebuild program for a major overhaul of recreational facilities. >> unfortunately it's the condition of many of our parks throughout the system we have 250 playgrounds and i'd say about 90% of them need significant investment. >> reporter: at the west mill creek rec center in west philly conditions are passible. but even here there are swings missing. the kind of challenges parents and kids must live with for now. >> there's not much up keep, um, there's even times you just find trash all over the floor. you just see over there swings broken. it's just gotten worse. >> reporter: so if this rebuild program is going to happen again it's a half billion it actually is hinged on the em bombed organs. neighbors made the discover row monday night around 9:00 o'clock along the 3,000 block of west clearfield street. there weren't any bones around. no one knows where the coffin and its contents came from as of yet. today a judge set retrial for a dad accused of killing his three-year-old son for septemb september11th. mistrial was declared back in may after jurors failed to mother of three an 12 year veteran of the force was doing the job she loved when early this morning a gunman approached the mobile command unit she was in and fired a single fatal shot into her head. the police commissioner calling it an assassination. >> it is clear this was an unprovoked attack on police officers who were assigned to keep the people of this great city safe. >> reporter: attack happened on east 183rd street near morris avenue at 12:30 in the morning as july 4th celebrations were wrapping up. police say 34-year-old alexander bonds walk catchly up to the command truck and fire the shot then took off running. >> my partner is shot, my partner is shot. >> shots fired. >> her partner radioed for help and two other officers caught up with bonds block away. they say he drew his revolver as the officers pursued him and they returned fire killing him. an innocent bystander was also shot in the mayhem but is expected to survive. officer familia was rushed to saint barnabas hospital where she died late. bonds served served two stints n prison and made anti police statements on his facebook page no one could make sense of why he would target the officer. >> it was a senseless shooting. so right now you got people, you know, we want them to know that there's people that support the nypd. >> officer familia is a hero. she's a here owe. >> reporter: if the 42nd philadelphia says prosecutors can seek the death penalty against two brothers charged in a deadly police shooting. carlton hips and ramon williams accused of killing sergeant robert wilson iii2 years ago. it happened during the attempted robbery of a video game store. police say the suspects opened fire on wilson in march of 2015 as he stood inside the game store trying to buy a gift for his son. that trial is set for next apr april. a lot of concern tonight in bucks counsel over horses neighbor worry could be starving and they say the horses are just getting skinny eighty three. >> police and bedminster township police chief saw the horses first hand today. he admits they are extremely thin but says the owner claims she is trying to save them. >> she said that these were rescued from a race track, and that they were very ill. >> reporter: the bucks county spca tells me it is well aware of the situation and has been working with the owners adding it takes time for horses in this condition to put on weight. police reiterating all the proper steps are being taken. >> the animals are being watch watched. they're being checked. we have verified that they're fed. they're watered, that, um, spca is involved and a veterinarian is involved. >> reporter: concerned neighbors and horse lovers fear time is running out for these five horses and feel the bucks county spca needs to be more diligent before it's too late. >> i've expressed to them in the time frame that -- that's going to go by before their next visit most likely there's two horseback there that very well could die. so then what? i think immediate action needs to take place. >> reporter: the mountain view horse rescue wants the horses seized immediately. spca says that all the steps that need to happen are being complex in fort pierce, florida. authorities say the driver did this intentionally. the car was filled with propane tanks and the driver's ex-girlfriend lives in the building. investigators say he had a history of domestic abuse and that he died in the crash. five people were inside the apartment he crashed into. including a three year old boy. an elderly woman was trapped inside but a neighbor did
