as pictures of a female classmate. she was later harassed and assaulted at tredyffrin easttown middle school. >> what goes through your mind as a parent? >> i'm very surprised that kids this young are centering this stuff out and yet i'm not surprised. >> it's obviously very sad and unfortunate. typically not kind of community that we have here. >> reporter: police suspect the taking and sharing of these adult images by kids is not limited to these students at these schools. time to talk to your kids. >> sit down with your children. create a dialogue much this is an opportunity to sit down and talk with your children. technology moves at such a viral rate. it's hard to keep up. >> reporter: sure s police expect a few more arrests in this case. the charges could range from sum receive offense up to third degree felony depending on the exact circumstances. the school district in a statement on its website says it is fully cooperates with police. one final and rather frightening note for parents as we talk about monitoring our kids social media behavior and their conduct online. turns out one of the students involved in this behavior apparently stored some of these inappropriate images in a cloud base system. making it virtually impossible for mom and dad to find anything even if they were looking. iain? >> alarming, bruce, thank you. a man is fighting for his life in the hospital tonight after a gunman opens fire outside a local community cent center. skyfox above the scene near the 3400 block of north 17th street this afternoon. police say that 22-year-old was sitting on a bench outside the hero community center when the gunman ran up and start the shooting. all six shots hit the victim much police say he is in extremely critical condition at temple hospital tonight. investigators say he was there to interview for a job re-entry program and was waiting for a ride when the bullets started flying. they are also looking for the shooter. man has died after he somehow fell on the tracks of the el in west philadelphia. a train hit him around noon today at 56th and market streets. it disrupted train service for about two hours as emergency crews worked to free him. service is back to normal tonight. we don't yet know the man's identity how he fell on to the tracks. a big day for people headed to the polls in pennsylvania and new jersey. our cameras caught people out early in cherry hill casting their ballots in high profile races. >> across the river philadelph philadelphia's mayoral race is one of the contests getting the most attention. >> and whoever comes out on top tonight will face a formidable list of challenges. fox 29's chris o'connell is live in old city tonight with less than three hours until the polls close. chris? >> reporter: well, lucy, all is quiet right now at the national museum of american jewish history here in old city. but this empty room will soon be transformed into election night headquarters for philadelphia mayoral front runner jim kenney. kenny and his opponent out early this morning getting out the votes at the precincts nominee melissa murray bailey out voting at the pre respective polling places across the city. they went visiting. kenny of course the 20 plus year city council veteran who destroyed his competition in the democratic primary say he's not taking this big lead in the polls for granderred. meanwhile on the other hand murray bailey the 36-year-old business executive who just switched to the republican party earlier this year realizes she has a big hill to climb and in a city where democrats out number republicans seven to one. >> you just do everything you can, you just have a message that resonates with the people, and when your message resonates, then party lines don't matter as much. >> the people in iran don't take it for granted the people in south africa don't take it for granted. the people who lived down south in the '50's and '60s don't take it for granted. you can take the for granted until you lose it. then it's too late. people need to get out and vote. >> reporter: and the story for this election may be voter turnout. it's expected to be anywhere from 15 to 20%. i've been checking polling places in center city. checked in south philadelphia and northeast philadelphia. all of those precincts reporting lower than normal voter already cooling down to 59 degrees. so once the set has set it will cool down quickly. so this evening in philadelphia mainly clear at 7:00 o'clock. 68 degrees. by the 9:00 o'clock hour a light wind, 65. of course, by 11:00 p.m. we'll fall back into the 50s it is that time of year it will be clear, it will be really light as far as the wind is concerned and temperatures will fall quickly. but get kathy, thank you. philadelphia police are hoping you can help them identify a group of robbers that knocked a woman down and stole her phone. surveillance cameras got a look at the three suspects minutes before the robbery back on october 20th. police say that guy in the gray hoodie and red sneakers snuck up on the victim near 1900 block of north 18th street. she told investigators he pushed her to the ground, grabbed her phone and then took off. she even chased him for few blocks. police are hoping to talk with all three men about that robbe robbery. northwest detectives are after a pair of armed robbers that held up a seafood restaurant in logan. here are some surveillance images forty one side the crab shack sunday night. police say two guys approached an employee as he was closing up and demanded to know where the safe was. one of the robbers pointed a gun at that employee and they grabbed the safe and ran off. investigators have not said how much money they got away with. the search continues tonight for a missing philadelphia teen. 16-year-old left home on the 1200 block of south 57th street before 7:00 saturday night. she was on her way to a halloween party. but police say she never came home. and nobody has seen her since. family members say she has never disappeared b if you know anything, that can help get her home, give police a call. chaka fattah, jr. fate now is the hands of a jury. closing arguments wrapped up today in his trial and prosecutors say fattah bilked hundreds of thousands of dollars from several banks, irs and the school district of philadelphia. fattah, jr. says those charges are politically motivated. this afternoon the judge instructed jurors thou proceed with deliberations. his father congressman chaka fattah, sr., is facing federal racketeering and corruption charges of his own. the camden county prosecutor' office tells fox 29 tonight its continuing its investigation into the death of a three-year boy this is as philly.com reports that a toxicology report has revealed there were no drugs or chemicals in brendan creato's body. haddon township boys body was found in the woods three weeks ago. brendan's father reported him missing hours before authorities made that discovery. so far there have been no arrests. the camden county prosecutor had no comment on the toxicology report. a local vfw post the focus of a morning raid by authoriti authorities. the happenings inside investigators say broke the law. five-year-old girl by herself with a loaded gun in an arizona desert. police say her grandfather wrestler there and when they found him, his explanation didn't make things any better. high school football player says he was kicked out of a game for praying after a play. why game officials say of records. the news of today's raid on post 3090 left many of its members in disbelief. >> now when the doors closed investigators are looking into several reported violations. fox 29's jennifer joyce is live outside vfw post 3090 in west philadelphia tonight. jennifer? >> reporter: good evening, iain. well today we watched as vfw commander from district one as well as the pennsylvania state police liquor control enforcement officers entered vfw post 3090 citing several violations. they came out with boxes of records and locked up this shop indefinitely. boxes of records were seized and carried out of vfw post 3090 as the site was locked up and shut down by the vfw district one commander. >> wow! i'm very surprised. >> reporter: lisa edwards is a member of the post at 52nd and race streets. she says she stops in almost every day. >> we have fun in there. we just had a halloween party which was very nice. >> reporter: but the local vfw leaders say this post is in trouble. officials with vfw district one say 3990 is accused of of violating several liquor laws and was recently shut down and fined by the city for failing to pay taxes on beverage sales. there are also questions about the finances. glenn cuff used to hold a position at the post. he told us gnaw charge of the money. >> let's just say the money not got up to the person who paid the bills. >> reporter: officials say the bar is packed every night it's open. they're making money much it's unclear where the money is goi going. >> which is one of the reasons why i left, because there were some irregularities and i record it to people and nobody wanted to do anything about it. >> reporter: several members showed up to the post throughout the day. they told us there was a member meeting scheduled. wall surprised to hear the news and wanted to find out more. >> it's a shame. because it's there for the community. like i said, i would hope veterans would claim, flags for their family funerals. it's sad. >> reporter: and official with the vfw out of the headquarters in harrisburg says that he would not comment on this case specifically but he said typically when vfw posts are in trouble, they try to step in and help. it's unclear whether or not this post could reopen. it's also unclear whether or not there could be a criminal investigation into the questionable finances. iain? >> all right, jennifer, thank you. the big changes continue for philadelphia newspapers. owners of the philadelphia inquirer and its partner the philadelphia daily news plan to lay off more than 40 members of the news staff but they won't say how many managers might lose their jobs. philadelphia media network says the 46 newsroom layoffs will be effective december 4th. the company also says it plans to make cutbacks in management and other areas. penn state and state department of health officials are warning students that three people at main campus in state college may have the mumps. officials are asking students, faculty and staff to check with their doctors. make sure that they're properly vaccinated for the measles, mule ands and rubella. the school isn't identifying those who may be sick but say they do not live in campus dorms. nonetheless, the school still is recommending that students avoid sharing food or drinks. early start for mayoral favorite jim kenney on election day before casting his vote the democrat joined pennsylvania supreme court nominee kevin dougherty for a labor rally in center city. representatives from philadelphia's hospital and health care unions joined other labor groups in welcoming the two candidates. it was just one of the first stops in a busy day for jim kenney and his team. some youngsters in camden may not be old enough for vote that's not stopping them from making sure people in their community get out to the polls. students taking to the streets making noise. k through tenth graders wearing shirts reading, i can't vote, but you can. teachers say this gets students excited about the process years before they're even allowed to vote. >> all week i've been telling them to get outside. right now... they're having a lot of fun. >> iain and lucy the latest e. coli outbreak ironically comes on the heels of a study that had actually been in the works for quite awhile now. it's part of a mission by the federal government to improve ways to keep food safe around the country. and not just at the restaurants. each year one in six americans gets sick from eating contaminated food. latest outbreak making headlines chipotle closing some of its pacific northwest locations. after e. coli sickened as many as 37 people. >> we don't yet know of a vehicle what food caused it or whether -- what the association is or even with certainty whether all of the cases that are identified there are members of -- are related to each other. >> reporter: although only 3% of all u.s. airborne outbreaks are multi state, they cause more than half the deaths of all outbreaks. the centers for disease control and prevention says, the industry needs to improve detection of airborne illness and speed up the process of issuing recalls. >> finding these outbreaks often depends on dna fingerprinting of the germ that makes people sick. that's beginning to happen more and more in public health labs around the country. >> some experts calling for more fda inspectors and better training for food handlers. >> people have to be very sterile. you have to use the proper, you know, gear to handle food. >> and there are steps you can take at home to avoid getting sick. >> you got to use techniques to sign -- sanitize your kitchen. keep the meat separate. cook them at proper temperatures. make sure you clean your lettu lettuces and produce. >> reporter: you might want to consider getting a customer loyalty card where you shop for food, because it could be worth more than those reward points. more and more grocers are using those cards as a quick way to identify and notify consumers about affected product recalls. it is a great idea. >> i hadn't even thought about that. >> how about that? >> i have them for everywhere,. >> don't you. >> they're all on my key ring. >> mine, too. >> thank you joyce. back to your fox 29 weather authority right now. as we soak in unseasonably high temperatures, check this out. people in california oh my goodness already enjoying snow. this is so critical for them. it's critical for them. see what's happening. this is in northern california folks are getting enjoying it. not all fun and games. people are saying be careful on the roads but, you know, kathy, we've talk about this. they need a huge snow pack because that drought is terrible there. >> when you look at the drought monitoring network, california beyond extreme drought. it's exceptional. i've never even see that on a range of drought before. so just a slow progression of precipitation what they need over a long period of time. i know you were worried about mudslides things like that. hopefully the snow will be slow in the process. as far as our weather is concerned, it's completely opposite. >> nowhere near snow. we always say when the west is cold the east is warm. that's balance of nature. but look out. we'll get the cold at some point. right now, we're looking at temperature of 70 degrees. the average high for this time of year is 61. winds out of the south southwest at just 7 miles an hour. so not much of a wind. it will stay light rate through the overnight. right now in philadelphia still 70. the poconos 65. 71 in trenton. 61 in millville. you can see at the atlantic city airport down to 63 degrees. so the entire northeastern part of the nation pretty mild. upstate new york in the 60s. you get into vermont, around 60 today and nearing 70 degrees in boston which is pretty warm for this time of year as well for them. beautiful night on tap as fair weather high pressure builds in. it sits right over us and that means nothing but a clear sky overnight tonight through tomorrow morning. i have the satellite over laid on top of this. it will be clear for hundreds of miles. closest precipitation is down through the mid atlantic. so this is the area of low pressure we've been watching for the past couple of days. this moves offshore but some of that moisture could get close. however, high pressure will be dominating our weather. wednesday a warm day, thursday a warm day. and then we'll even squeak out one more mild day. friday a head of this front we could be nearing record warmth because of all the warmth that's squeezed up the coastal plane this front means business though because by saturday, the chilly air returns. it's back really to the realit realities of the season. almost like a slap in the face it will be significantly cooler by the weekend. so in the city overnight 53. north and west 50. clear skies. no weather issues. during the day tomorrow the high 75 mostly sunny. unusually warm. the average high for tomorrow is 60. you're talking about 15 degrees above normal. as you plan your day tomorrow, plan your wednesday, look for comfortable conditions by lunch time 68. by the afternoon, 75. that's when we'll have the peak of the heat and then by dinner hour looking for temperatures in the 60s. on your seven day forecast, wednesday is beautiful. little bit cooler thursday but still well above normal. friday 77. saturday we're in the 60s. sunday we're in the 50s. you can see monday and tuesday temperatures right around 60 degrees which is average for this time of year. and beautiful. many novembers we see temperatures well below average so even if you can hold at that average temperature, upper 50s, lower 60s it's still beautiful month. i know there's a lot of people that enjoy the cold. i've been hearing on facebook and twitter. we like the cold. >> yup. >> don't worry. we'll be ready for that when it comes. >> it will come. >> i like too. i like snow. i like going snowing even though i'mly bad i like to trying to ski. >> yeah. >> i'm sure we will. >> all right. thank you kathy. high school football player says he was kick out of a game for praying after a play. why game officials say he's only telling part of the story. she's only four years old but this little girl already knows how to use a tattoo gun and she just made an addition to her dad's impressive collection of fat twos. the very good reason he has for letting her do this. >> and coming up at 6:00 prote 6:00 protecting your stuff. the new cool police want to you use to mark your valuables. you can't see it with the naked eye but police say it can tell them everything they need to know. ♪ a spectacular celestial event caught on camera in thailand. did you see it right there? fox 29 weekend's karen hepp takes a look at the often spirited struggle unfolding on our streets and the effort for everyone to just get along. >> reporter: kate monday is a mom of two great boys a cancer survivor an city biker. >> it's an easy way to get around the city. i love doing it with my kids. we have great conversations on the bike. we have -- we really have a lot of fun. >> reporter: it's how the kids get to school. how she gets to work. biking helped her regain her strength and her confidence after devastating chemo. >> i felt so good to be back and be well. >> reporter: and then this happened. >> you are a real idiot. yeah, bleep. words we can't possibly play. and kate certainly didn't want her young boys to hear. so what the heck happened? kate wears a go pro. here's the video. she's in the bike lane pedaling up 11th street with her kindergartner and third grader a guy parked in the bike lane so she has to go around. kate turns and looks behind her to make sure it's safe to pass. she see as car in the distance but has plenty of room and time to make her move. but the driver of that red suv rolls up beside her and unleashes a viral tyrant. >> the way you drive you're going to get those kids killed. you're a reallied yacht. all right real idiot. yeah, that bleep. yeah, bleep. with your go pro you bleep. you have two kids and you just pulled out without even lookin you're proud of yourself. >> i did look. i saw. >> reporter: she did being in the right doesn't make the hate any easier. >> it make me feel awful because you feel -- you feel abused. you're out just trying to do your -- get where you got to go with your family. >> reporter: it can wear you down. if that's one incident it happens a lot. >> reporter: take a look around. the city has changed. biking is up 260% in just the last 10 years. racks are jammed and all over. you can hardly find space. bikers are everywhere. but frankly sharing the road is often hell on wheels. ♪ >> we need people to calm down. >> reporter: randy from the bicycle coalition says one big problem people don't know the rules have changed. you've got to have 4 feet to pass a biker in pennsylvania. it's the law. 250 of these signs are going up right now all over montgomery county. our whole row i don't know is adjusting to the biking boom. philly is now the top big city for bike commuting. >> i think it's fastest way to get around the city. >> reporter: blue indigo bike share program lurched six months ago exploded. >> we're over 300,000 rides on indego which is a stunning statistic. >> reporter: how can we all just get along? first of all, know the bikers are getting better manners. sidewalk and wrong way riding which infuriates people are both down big time, more than 60%. >> if you're on bike and you're 12 and under, you can be on the sidewalk. if you're over 12, no, you can't be. you follow the rules of the ro road. >> reporter: here are the rules. bikers, you are a vehicle. act like it. stop at red lights. signal. get bells and lights for night riding. drivers, bikes are vehicles. they are actually entitled to a whole lane. look for them. don't park in the bike lane. they wind up in traffic. and remember, bikers are people just like you only on two wheels instead of four. >> we're not out to ruin their day. it's not my intention to ruin somebodi' days by biking in front of them. >> reporter: studies show what will make the streets safer for everybody is more protected and buffered bike lanes which are going in. but in our colonial city of narrow streets the challenge is finding the space. >> chicago police officer just say saved lives but they have some help. how this teenager jumped into action and the well-deserved recognition he's now getting. coming up at six, several local students under arrest because of pictures of classmates police say they shared with each other. why officers say more arrests could be on the way. >> and two men walk into a local store, police say they stole some pry cease items. why the store employee may not have even realized he was the victim of a crime at first. ♪ this holiday season, my good friend gave to me ♪ ♪ 7 powerball tickets ♪ 6 match 6 chances ♪ 5 cash 5s ♪ 4 cash4lifes ♪ 3 pick 3s ♪ 2 mega millions (joe) happy holidays, rita. (joe) happy holidays! ♪ and best wishes from the lottery ♪ fox 29 news in hd brought to you by xfinity the future of aweso awesome. if you're looking for the best cab driver in america, you will not find him or her in philadelphia. this year that honor goes to an arizona driver who says he always tries to bring more to the ride. it must be working because al tracy earn the award from the national transportation trade association and he's only been driving a cab for four years. >> there are some really bad drivers here, and they're very rude and stuff but you have to go with the flow. i haven't had a ticket since 1990 i like to keep that it way. >> tracy always tries to bring a positive attitude to work. the taxi cab trade association says he earned the award because of his commitment to safety and his great customer service skills. he also mentors and trains new drivers. chicago teen who helped out during an emergency just met with the police officers he helped it all started when people in one part of the city woke up to a loud crash and saw a car on fire. >> police arrived and found two men unconscious still inside that car. they got the guys out and now they're thanking the veep-year-old for his help. fox's elizabeth matthews was there for the big moment. >> reporter: greeted with hand shakes and hugs. this 1584 old was welcomed monday night to chicago police sixth district headquarters in grisham. four of chicago finest eager to meet the neighborhood kid who helped them safe two lives. >> my hero comes up he's like here. he fell out of the sky. >> officer says it's touching when a teenager is willing to help police out. just doesn't happen every day. >> there are a few people adults that were on scene but who jumped in? john. >> a lot of people help me. i really -- i wasn't a good kid when i was younger. people helped me to be the person i am now. that's why i wanted to help people that day. >> john suite is 15 years old and grew up in the grisham neighborhood. he says he just wants to make his family proud but that wasn't always the case. >> i got in fights and stuff like that. doing things that i shouldn't be doing. >> he says in the past few years he's gone from street live to now straight as at excel academy in south shore and not surprising wants to help people when he grows up. >> what is it a firefighter or police officer or none of those? >> eh -- i'm not sure. i actually want to be social worker. >> the reason for his change in attitude he says his grandmoth grandmother. 92 year old mildred. >> i want my grandma to go out seeing my grandson didn't do anything, you know, so i want to change my life for the better. so people can be proud of me. they look at me like, oh, he just another statistic. i don't want to be a statistic. i want to be somebody. >> he is somebody. the two people injured in that car fire are still in the hospital but they are expected to be okay. this past halloween will be one that one maple shade couple will never forget. it's not because of their costumes. >> yes! >> did she say yes! >> i didn't hear it. >> did you say yes? >> can't wait to get home and ask my son if he knows who it was. so, um -- >> reporter: you want to get answers? >> i would want to know who it is. >> reporter: 43 did you have forty one police say six month investigation has led them to charge three middle school students with creating, storing, viewing and sending x rated images. they were selfies and pictures of classmates.
