the city during the pope's visit some good news if you plan on using the subway. septa today announce it's going double the number of open stations on both the mark frankford and broad street lines during the pope's visit. septa also announced that $10, three day papal transit pass you can use it between saturday the 26th and monday the 28th for the market frankford and broad street lines. you can also hop on buses and trollies along with it. meanwhile/major changes to the catholic church' as mulling many process. pope francis announcing new rule today over hauling centuries of church practice. catholic looking to dissolve their marriages will no longer be subjected to a long and sometimes costly process. new reforms will allow for fast track decisions eliminating the requirement inside a home on the 2400 block every north gratz street just after 2:00. crews got things under control at the northeast philly home win about half hour. red power leaf is helping their pet as they find a place to stay. we do not know how that fire started. now in burlington county firefighters have a forest fire about 65% contained. look at all that smoke. the pine barrens fire is scorched about a thousand acres so far. it started burning yesterday near woodland township and those flames spread quickly. you saw it breaking right here at 5:00 yesterday this was the view from skyfox this morning as firefighters continued to battle it. labor day may have come and gone, but the summer heat has not. here's a live look at center city at the end of another scorcher. heat wave continuing today. high temperatures and humidity are not the only things we're going to be talking about this week. chief meteorologist scott williams is live in old city tonight tracking some changes. sepsis lower for sure, scott. >> that's certainly right. good evening dawn. yesterday high temperatures right around 90 degrees. today we're talking about numbers in the low 90s so the temperatures climbing a bit along with the humidity but later this week we also have some weather changes that will bring some relief and also some needed rainfall. but no rainfall right now. take a look at the numbers if you're stepping outdoors. it's hot. 93 degrees. those winds out of the southwest pumping up more of that moisture. look at allentown. 94 degrees. if you want some relief head down the shore temperatures in the low to mid 80s. so the bottom line it will be a warm evening if you're stepping outdoors. muggy conditions overnight. maybe a little bit of patchy fog temperatures by 11:00 o'clock still in the 70s. so dry and quite now but look at that front off to the west. that is our next weather maker. that will provide the heat relief along with the showers. when i come indoors, we'll talk the man they say shot two people outside a bar in olney. police say the shooting stemmed from an argument inside the 55 north bar on north fifth street right around 12:30 this morning. investigators say outside the bar the man shot a 23-year-old man in his chest piercing his lung. he's at einstein hospital tonight in critical condition. police say that man also shot a 27-year-old woman four times in in her legs and stomach but she's already out of the hospital. police have not released the name of the person they've arrested. developing now, a fatal car crash that has an entire community grieving. two young adults hit and killed in a tragic accident over labor day weekend. one of those killed a popular young woman who's loved ones say played a big role in helping other people. ton night the chester county organization where she donated much of her time is remembering a woman who had a bright future ahead of her. fox 29's dave schratwieser is live at the accident investigation division tonight, dave, just enormous loss for this community. >> reporter: no doubt about that, dawn. investigators meanwhile here at the accident investigation district tell us it may be several more days before they have any new information on the crash and their investigation in the meantime co-workers of 25-year-old amanda, are mourning her loss. hearts were heavy at ymca in phoenixville tuesday as members and staff came to grips with the tragic death of 25-year-old a money today. she was a wonderful vibrant young woman. had her whole live in her. >> amanda and 2584 old brian of baltimore were killed early monday when they were struck by a taxi cab on broad street near arch. both had been attending the made in american festival. >> any time you hear something like that happening, it's just tragic. for everybody involved. the families and friends and everything. >> reporter: amanda lived in phoenixville and started working at the ymca as an intern in 2013. her mother and two sisters also worked here. >> we loved having her as part of our family and we'll truly are going to miss her. >> very difficult for everybody involved and you just hope nothing like that ever happens to you or a loved one. >> reporter: police are still investigating the crash. the 41-year-old cab driver from rosemont taxi stopped at the scene but had to be hospitalized with chest pains. witnesses told police the driver may have been doing as much as 50 miles per hour in a 25-mile per hour speed zone. >> everybody is just going through a difficult time and needs a little bit of some piece. >> all i can do is put them in my prayers. >> reporter: now, police have not yet released the name of the taxi cab driver or the results of his blood tests taken aft that accident. the company say robbed a northwest philadelphia pharmacy. surveillance cameras were rolling inside this rite aid in chestnut hill on sunday afternoon. investigators say this man handed a note to the clerk saying he had a handgun and he wanted the money from the register. the clerk opened the register and the crook grabbed the cash. he even went back and demanded several packs of cigarettes before take off. fortunately no one was hurt. >> delaware man in jail tonight carrying police say an amount of heroin that might make do you a double take. what a mug shot there. what else they say he had on him that spine was nea ney severed on april 12th. officers put him in the back of a prisoner transport van after his arrest. people don't know what happened. the 25-year-old died at the hospital week later setting off protests and riot wig crys of misconduct win the police force. all six officers who were involved in the arrest face charges. the cement still needs the approval from a board that oversees city spending that meeting is set for tomorrow. >> pennsylvania state police busy over the labor day holiday weekend. troopers say nine people were killed and 230 others injured in over 600 crashes during the four-day weekend. the state police also issuing over 13,000 speeding tickets and arresting over 500 people for dui. these figures also only represent cases investigated by the state police. a new castle county man under arrest tonight after police say he ran from officers with his baby in his arms. this happened yesterday on maple avenue in elsmere. investigators say they saw the man who was known to police for selling heroin and when they attempted to stop him that's when they say he took off with the baby. he then passed the child off to his mother and police were finally aim able to stop him. investigators say they found 92 bags of heroin on the guy. the baby was unharmed. >> fox 29 investigators cracked open the case at the furniture store all too willing to take your money but not giving was you paid for. we're talking about thousands of thousands of dollars here. fox 29 investigates continues to bird dog the case furniture sir plus. jeff cole broke the story earlier in the summer. he's in the news room with what may be good news for consumers, jeff. >> i'll certainly hope so lucy. our viewers should remember this story the one in which the owner claimed he was his brother to avoid our questions. he eventually told us who he was but couldn't answer customer complaints that they paid for furniture they never received. after our investigative report the pennsylvania attorney general sued furniture sir plus and owners to get customers money back. a court hearing on the case was scheduled for today. but it was called off. fox 29 investigates has learned the state and store owners are working on an agreement which could return money to consumers. here's the deal. it's not cut yet but includes a cash and carry sale of all furniture in the lancaster avenue store and sale of the building itself. the furniture sale could start later this week. source tells fox money raised would go to a fund which would be used to pay back those customers. both sides to sign off on the deal the owners of the property and the furniture store and the attorney general. spokesperson though for the attorney general confirmed they're trying to come to an agreement. we're told that fund would need at least 30 to 40 grand to make customers whole and reminder to customers, if you haven't filed a complaint with the pennsylvania attorney general, you drove off a western pennsylvania highway and smashed into 23 cars at a dealership. police in mercer county pennsylvania say the driver was sipping his doctor pepper when he started choking and lost control of his vehicle. he wound up driving the truck nearly 600 feet through a grassy area before smashing into montrose buick gmc cadillac on sunday afternoon. the truck rumbled down an embankment before hitting all those new cars. state police did not find any mechanical problems with that truck and there's no indication that the truck driver even tried to brake according to investigators. he has been cited with careless driving. it is back to class for the philadelphia school district. a busy first day for students and educators alike at george washington carver high school of engineering and science. dozens gathered outside the building this morning for the annual bell ringing ceremony. on hand to help rink in the new school year mayor michael nutter and superintendent william hite. today. walter palmer was named in late july as the hunter who killed see bill in zimbabwe. in the days that followed he received all kinds of kinds of threats. was vilified online and his office was her religious beliefs. the woman who survived an on air shooting that killed 2tv journalists is finally home from the hospital. doctors released vick knee gardner yesterday. the executive director of the smith mountain lake chamber of commerce was talking about tourism on life tv when gunfire rang out on august 26th. doctors had to remove one of gardner's kidneys and some of her colon. the gunman ambushed wdbj cameraman adam ward and reporter allison parker killing them and shooting gardner before leading police on chase and then killing himself. labor day week send over and for members of checking in wildwood. if you're stepping outdoors it will be warm once again that humidity level really starts to creep up later on tonight. muggy by 11:00 o'clock. 78 degrees. look at the overnight low temperatures. probably staying in the low to mid 70s for most across the area. this is wednesday morning, 6am, 76 degrees. in around center city we're looking at 75 warminster. 72 in pottstown. 70 even in the pocono mountains. so take a look at the numbers. 90 degrees yesterday for your labor day. 93 degrees so far the unofficial high temperature for today. tomorrow temperatures again topping out in the low 99s as we take a look at the overall set up right now high pressure still in control keeping things dry across our area but here's our next weather maker this front off to the west in sections of the midwest. it will eventually head in our direction overnight wednesday into thursday to give us some beneficial rain but also cool our temperatures down. so for tomorrow afternoon, you can see once again similar to today. cooler down the shore. and also in the pocono mountai mountains. but inland we're talking about numbers again in the low 90s. then as we move toward thursday, thursday morning's commute kind of dam many and dreary on and off again showers throughout much of the day on thursday. remember, we need the rainfall. take a look at the potential rain out of this system. we could see over an inch and a half in pottstown as well as allentown. on average along the i-95 corridor we're looking at about an inch of rain out of the next system. but behind that baby after he was born at a hospital back in may. when the mother mercedes left the hospital she told doctors she didn't think the baby was hers. her suspicions grew as she returned to dallas and saw that the child just didn't resemble her or her husband. authorities say the doctor who delivered the baby is in police custody being questioned about possible involve in many human trafficking. the couple has been reunited with their real baby and the child they had been raising in texas has been returned to his family. >> man moved to memphis get his back live on track met with more heart ache. anthony owens says shortly after getting a job and saving up some money he went looking for a place to live finally. he went on to craigslist and reach out to a person he thought was a landlord. turns out, that guy was anything but. the real landlord came forward. she says she feels owens pain. >> look i'm tearing up because i really feel bad for this young man. people work too hard for their money for someone to come and take it. >> that's right. she says she has filed a report with memphis police. meanwhile she's going to let owens move into her apartment but she has told him he's got to tear up the fake lease and sign one of hers. investigation is underway in massachusetts after police say someone claiming to represent the irs took a familiar exam to a whole new level. we've all probably had our share of unsolicited phone calls but the calls this woman was getting were more worrisome than the others. police say two scammers went as far as showing up at the woman's house after several phone calls went up answered. they told the homeowner that she owed money to the government and would be arrested if she did not pay up immediately. >> two people showed up in suits carrying what they said were irs badges. stated that they did have documentation that she did indeed oh the money then wanted it today. again they tried to pressure her, put a little bit of pressure hadn't over to make sure she paid it. >> fortunately the woman did not respond to the men's threats and called police right away. officials are warning taxpayers if you owe the irs money they'll contact you through the post office and never over the telephone. >> temple university student is begging for your help tonight this is a story that has really just grabbed my heart. she needs help finding something she's held very close to her sin the day she was born and she accidentally left it on septa train last week. she's now hoping somebody may know where it is. as our shawnette wilson reports she's turned to social media now fox 29 to get a little help. >> every night, yeah i sleep with it every night. yeah. so it's been rough couple nights without it. >> reporter: 18-year-old brook can't keep her mind off of something very dear to her heart that she lost last thursday. she says she left it on a septa train when she left her dorm at temple to go home to brookhaven for the weekend. >> i was shocked at first. i immediately started crying in the car to my sister, then i called my mom right away and told her and she was kind of like which bag was it? was it my expensive laptop? no it's wor worse. it's my poo blanket. >> you heard her right. brook lost her winnie the pooh blanket. but it's not just any old blanket. >> the blanket was actually my comforter when i was newborn baby that's what i slept with when i came home from the hospital and i've been obsessed with it. it's been by my side all the years since. so it's very close to me. and i really haven't gone this long without it ever. >> reporter: brook says it was stuffed inside a pink and white reusable marshals bag along with lane laundry make up bag and cell phone charger. she placed it in the overhead above where she was the city during the pope's visit some good news if you plan on using the subway. septa today announce it's going double the number of open stations on both the mark frankford and broad street lines during the pope's visit. septa also announced that $10, three day papal transit pass you can use it between saturday the 26th and monday the 28th for the market frankford and broad street lines. you can also hop on buses and trollies along with it. meanwhile/major changes to the catholic church' as mulling many process. pope francis announcing new rule today over hauling centuries of church practice. catholic looking to dissolve their marriages will no longer be subjected to a long and sometimes costly process. new reforms will allow for fast track decisions eliminating the requirement that all annulment decisions must get a second judgment. the changes are sitting well with many catholics and outside the vatican many are praising the new rules. >> yes, i do think it's a good idea inside a home on the 2400 block every north gratz street just after 2:00. crews got things under control at the northeast philly home win about half hour. red power leaf is helping their pet as they find a place to stay. we do not know how that fire started. now in burlington county firefighters have a forest fire about 65% contained. look at all that smoke. the pine barrens fire is scorched about a thousand acres so far. it started burning yesterday near woodland township and those flames spread quickly. you saw it breaking right here at 5:00 yesterday this was the view from skyfox this morning as firefighters continued to battle it. labor day may have come and gone, but the summer heat has not. here's a live look at center city at the end of another scorcher. heat wave continuing today. high temperatures and humidity are not the only things we're going to be talking about this week. chief meteorologist scott williams is live in old city tonight tracking some changes. sepsis lower for sure, scott. >> that's certainly right. good evening dawn. yesterday high temperatures right around 90 degrees. today we're talking about numbers in the low 90s so the temperatures climbing a bit along with the humidity but later this week we also have some weather changes that will bring some relief and also some needed rainfall. but no rainfall right now. take a look at the numbers if you're stepping outdoors. it's hot. 93 degrees. those winds out of the southwest pumping up more of that moisture. look at allentown. 94 degrees. if you want some relief head down the shore temperatures in the low to mid 80s. so the bottom line it will be a warm evening if you're stepping outdoors. muggy conditions overnight. maybe a little bit of patchy fog temperatures by 11:00 o'clock still in the 70s. so dry and quite now but look at that front off to the west. that is our next weather maker. that will provide the heat relief along with the showers. when i come indoors, we'll talk the man they say shot two people outside a bar in olney. police say the shooting stemmed from an argument inside the 55 north bar on north fifth street right around 12:30 this morning. investigators say outside the bar the man shot a 23-year-old man in his chest piercing his lung. he's at einstein hospital tonight in critical condition. police say that man also shot a 27-year-old woman four times in in her legs and stomach but she's already out of the hospital. police have not released the name of the person they've arrested. developing now, a fatal car crash that has an entire community grieving. two young adults hit and killed in a tragic accident over labor day weekend. one of those killed a popular young woman who's loved ones say played a big role in helping other people. ton night the chester county organization where she donated much of her time is remembering a woman who had a bright future ahead of her. fox 29's dave schratwieser is live at the accident investigation division tonight, dave, just enormous loss for this community. >> reporter: no doubt about that, dawn. investigators meanwhile here at the accident investigation district tell us it may be several more days before they have any new information on the crash and their investigation in the meantime co-workers of 25-year-old amanda, are mourning her loss. hearts were heavy at ymca in phoenixville tuesday as members and staff came to grips with the tragic death of 25-year-old a money today. she was a wonderful vibrant young woman. had her whole live in her. >> amanda and 2584 old brian of baltimore were killed early monday when they were struck by a taxi cab on broad street near arch. both had been attending the made in american festival. >> any time you hear something like that happening, it's just tragic. for everybody involved. the families and friends and everything. >> reporter: amanda lived in phoenixville and started working at the ymca as an intern in 2013. her mother and two sisters also worked here. >> we loved having her as part of our family and we'll truly are going to miss her. >> very difficult for everybody involved and you just hope nothing like that ever happens to you or a loved one. >> reporter: police are still investigating the crash. the 41-year-old cab driver from rosemont taxi stopped at the scene but had to be hospitalized with chest pains. witnesses told police the driver may have been doing as much as 50 miles per hour in a 25-mile per hour speed zone. >> everybody is just going through a difficult time and needs a little bit of some piece. >> all i can do is put them in my prayers. >> reporter: now, police have not yet released the name of the taxi cab driver or the results of his blood tests taken aft that accident. the company say robbed a northwest philadelphia pharmacy. surveillance cameras were rolling inside this rite aid in chestnut hill on sunday afternoon. investigators say this man handed a note to the clerk saying he had a handgun and he wanted the money from the register. the clerk opened the register and the crook grabbed the cash. he even went back and demanded several packs of cigarettes before take off. fortunately no one was hurt. >> delaware man in jail tonight carrying police say an amount of heroin that might make do you a double take. what a mug shot there. what else they say he had on him that spine was nea ney severed on april 12th. officers put him in the back of a prisoner transport van after his arrest. people don't know what happened. the 25-year-old died at the hospital week later setting off protests and riot wig crys of misconduct win the police force. all six officers who were involved in the arrest face charges. the cement still needs the approval from a board that oversees city spending that meeting is set for tomorrow. >> pennsylvania state police busy over the labor day holiday weekend. troopers say nine people were killed and 230 others injured in over 600 crashes during the four-day weekend. the state police also issuing over 13,000 speeding tickets and arresting over 500 people for dui. these figures also only represent cases investigated by the state police. a new castle county man under arrest tonight after police say he ran from officers with his baby in his arms. this happened yesterday on maple avenue in elsmere. investigators say they saw the man who was known to police for selling heroin and when they attempted to stop him that's when they say he took off with the baby. he then passed the child off to his mother and police were finally aim able to stop him. investigators say they found 92 bags of heroin on the guy. the baby was unharmed. >> fox 29 investigators cracked open the case at the furniture store all too willing to take your money but not giving was you paid for. we're talking about thousands of thousands of dollars here. fox 29 investigates continues to bird dog the case furniture sir plus. jeff cole broke the story earlier in the summer. he's in the news room with what may be good news for consumers, jeff. >> i'll certainly hope so lucy. our viewers should remember this story the one in which the owner claimed he was his brother to avoid our questions. he eventually told us who he was but couldn't answer customer complaints that they paid for furniture they never received. after our investigative report the pennsylvania attorney general sued furniture sir plus and owners to get customers money back. a court hearing on the case was scheduled for today. but it was called off. fox 29 investigates has learned the state and store owners are working on an agreement which could return money to consumers. here's the deal. it's not cut yet but includes a cash and carry sale of all furniture in the lancaster avenue store and sale of the building itself. the furniture sale could start later this week. source tells fox money raised would go to a fund which would be used to pay back those customers. both sides to sign off on the deal the owners of the property and the furniture store and the attorney general. spokesperson though for the attorney general confirmed they're trying to come to an agreement. we're told that fund would need at least 30 to 40 grand to make customers whole and reminder to customers, if you haven't filed a complaint with the pennsylvania attorney general, you should certainly do so and i mean quickly. jeff cole in the newsroom. dawn, back to you. >> good advice, thank you jeff. >> police say a milk tanker truck driver was choking on soft dripping when he drove off a western pennsylvania highway and smashed into 23 cars at a dealership. police in mercer county pennsylvania say the driver was sipping his doctor pepper when he started choking and lost control of his vehicle. he wound up driving the truck nearly 600 feet through a grassy area before smashing into montrose buick gmc cadillac on sunday afternoon. the truck rumbled down an embankment before hitting all those new cars. state police did not find any mechanical problems with that truck and there's no indication that the truck driver even tried to brake according to investigators. he has been cited with careless driving. it is back to class for the philadelphia school district. a busy first day for students and educators alike at george washington carver high school of engineering and science. dozens gathered outside the building this morning for the annual bell ringing ceremony. on hand to help rink in the new school year mayor michael nutter and superintendent william hite. >> another special day for schools across the delaware river. the camden school district welcoming back students to celebrate the beginning of a new school year. camden's mayor dane ya redd was also today. walter palmer was named in late july as the hunter who killed see bill in zimbabwe. in the days that followed he received all kinds of kinds of threats. was vilified online and his office was of jail. she says her fight is not over. her religious beliefs. the woman who survived an on air shooting that killed 2tv journalists is finally home from the hospital. doctors released vick knee gardner yesterday. the executive director of the smith mountain lake chamber of commerce was talking about tourism on life tv when gunfire rang out on august 26th. doctors had to remove one of gardner's kidneys and some of her colon. the gunman ambushed wdbj cameraman adam ward and reporter allison parker killing them and shooting gardner before leading police on chase and then killing himself. labor day week send over and for members of baby after he was born at a hospital back in may. when the mother mercedes left the hospital she told doctors she didn't think the baby was hers. her suspicions grew as she returned to dallas and saw that the child just didn't resemble her or her husband. authorities say the doctor who delivered the baby is in police custody being questioned about possible involve in many human trafficking. the
