it's not like the most fun thing in the world to get up early in the morning to shovel out your walkway and then shovel out your car. we live in the northeast. dust off your shovels. looks like they're about to get put to good use. upper 40s right now but allentown along with the rest of our area is under a winter weather watch. but first, we get to enjoy a day of record warmth. good evening, i'm lucy noland. we've got one topsy turvy forecast the next 36 hours. let's start right now. warm february night. a lot of folks have light jackets on probably not even thinking about snow, but it is coming. the question now is when and how much? so what do you think, kathy? >> well, we'll talk about significant snow lucy when we use the word significant, meteorologically it equates to about five or 6-inches of snow. so you can keep that in your back pock. ultimate doppler showing a front moving through tomorrow. highlighted with some of those showers. ahead of it very warm temperatures. temperatures will be rising overnight tonight. you mentioned 40s in the philadelphia area. it's 42 degrees. look at raleigh 64. we'll get a piece of that during the day tomorrow with temperatures warming but look at the cold in chicago 33. this is not that far away. so tale of two seasons. tomorrow it will be shorts weather feeling like spring and then back to the shovels by your thursday morning. so front moves through tomorrow cooling temperatures. then this area of low pressure that looks benign a few days ago will be moving offshore intensifying we have the cold in place. we have the moisture from the ocean and we'll be seeing that significant snow. it will be late tomorrow night and into thursday. at least through midday. winter storm watch has been extended through philadelphia through south jersey and northern delaware. that winter storm watch gets underway tomorrow night. it continues through the day on thursday. now as we go hour by hour you can see wednesday temperatures will be peeking in the 60s with some breaks in the overcast. the clouds thicken and then by 1:00 a.m. this snow is knocking at our door and then by 3am it's here. the peak of it the height of the storm during the morning rush six, seven, 8am and by noon it is exiting the east coast at least new jersey and temperatures will be falling it will be gusty as well. the snow starts between 1am and 3am thursday morning. heaviest between five and 8:00 a.m. it ends around noon. when we talk about the snow accumulatioaccumulations, we'reg about significant snow over a big part of the region. where you see the dark blew about six to 8-inches. philadelphia five to 6-inches. four to six through this blue area extending through wilmington and then two to four through millville and dover a coating to couple inches possible with more mixing gone going on down the shore. impacts will be significant periods of heavy snow through the morning rush. poor visibility slow travel. i anticipate airport delays thursday morning and biggest impact will be during the morning rush. overnight tonight low temperatures in the 50s actually be rising overnight. during the day tomorrow, around noon it will already be 60. the record is 63. and we will tie that record most likely tomorrow winds becoming northwest in the afternoon. your seven day forecast tells the story. look at this. 63 wednesday. 34 and snow thursday i've never seen a transition like this. friday 32. we bounce back saturday. sunday 50. monday a lot of melting going on and by tuesday mostly sunny, 45 degrees. lucy it's going to be a crazy 24 hours. >> oh, man, i know. we're gearing up for it. thank goodness you're guiding the way. last week many of us spotted snowflakes here and there. but they were pretty much gone as quickly as they came in. we've been spoiled by mild winter so far. so you might have to jog your memory to get ready for a big kick of snow. our chris o'connell is in south philadelphia. all crews here in the city, snow crews around the state, they're preparing for actually what kathy said could be a very significant snowstorm. take a look behind me. you see no shortage of road salt for area roadways and no shortage of pins about this impending storm. if you like snow, so far this winter has been a bust. just look at the fully stocked milk eye and check out le peg restaurant in old city. the ice bar here it was built a week ago. the owner spent a thousand bucks to have it built. but it's been slowly melting ever since. >> i was very worried about it, um, and, you know, it's only lasted a week when it was meant to last two weeks. but we've done so well on the bar we'll carve it again on thursday when it gets cold again. >> we've been lucky so far. pretty mild winter. >> reporter: john malloy thought he could hold out to buy a snow shovel for another winter, not going to be the ca case. >> i still dread it, you know, it's not like the most fun thing in the world to season. it's been good news for penndot. crews have used 33,000 tons of road salt so far this season in the philly area. but they still have 115,000 tons left to use. and any snow removal money remaining goes right to spring maintenance on area roads. all right. now let's get to the important stuff. the question i've been getting all night from kids and parents, we're going to bring in kathy school delays as they come in. as kathy orr says most likely will thursday morning. all right. a violent attack at a charity basketball game. a fight broke out at a high school gym and the city's olney section. sent a man to the hospital. fox 29's dave schratwieser is live at police headquarters. dave, the victim's dad spoke only to fox 29 tonight. >> reporter: lucy, he did. the family of the player who was injured here says he simply wanted to play in charity basketball game at a local christian high school just up the block from his family's home. instead he ended up at the hospital with a concussion and a broken orbital bone. >> it goes beyond belief. >> reporter: he came to charity basketball game to watch his son play and left with a lot of anger and bitterness after his son was viciously attacked by another player while sitting on the bench. >> nobody, my family, my friends, people i love, nobody should be subject to this especially at a christian high school a charity basketball game. >> reporter: the father who's identity we're not revealing was stunned when he realized it was his son being assaulted. not once but twice. he was struck once in the face by a player. then attacked again by a second player. >> very very vicious assault. >> this is a charity basketball game. and come to find out my son was injured. it was more than i could handle at that time. it really was. >> reporter: his son suffered concussion like symptoms and a fractured orbital bone around his left eye. police believe this man seen leaving the international christian high school after the incident delivered the first punch. >> people come there to see a charitable basketball game, worthwhile worthy event only to witness something like this unfolding it's very disturbing. >> reporter: there was chaos. there was anger i looked around for some responsible people to step up and say something, and nobody took responsibility. >> reporter: now police say the two suspects in this case could face aggravated assault charges. they are working hard to identify them. no one else at the game was injured. lucy? >> all right, thank you, dave. appeals court is taking on president trump's travel ban today in san francisco the ninth circuit court of appeal asked the justice department very tough questions. last week washington state in minnesota filed a suit against the ban. they say it's unconstitutional. that it unleashed chaos. one of the three judges asked the government has any evidence that connects the seven nations impacted by the ban to terrori terrorism? here's her three times. fox 29's shawnette wilson is live at 39th police district. shawnette you've been talking with her tonight. man, it looks like she has had it. >> reporter: she has reason to be fed up lucy. she's actually one of about sick report that is police say they've received about slashed tires on this property over the past few months. and this evening, we went there and found several cars sitting there unable to move. >> i parked around 11:30 p.m. and then i woke up at 7:30 to go to work and i found that my tires were slashed. >> reporter: that was two months ago. but since myrna says it's happened two more times the most recent was january 27th. these are pictures she took of the damage to her car. >> i called the cops. i made a report. and i called the office the same moment and i gave them the report number. >> reporter: myrna lives in alden park apartments in germantown where there's been rash of tire slashing. six reports since november. police tell me. they sent out this safety alert to management to give out to residents. >> i spent over $1,400. >> are they flattening one tire. >> no, it was two tires for each time. >> reporter: myrna walked us around the parking lot together for a good cause in the marlton elementary school cafeteria. 50 volunteers made blankets that are going to be donated to cancer patients. marlton elementary and cherokee high school both she did the next best thing. >> i grabbed her and grabbed her tony tale and pulled as hard as i could to get her out. she came out. she was screaming. she peed her pants. >> machine ended up ripping out some of abigail's hair right from the roots. chuck e cheese released a statement saying it's aware of what happened and off to help with any medical bills. but abigail's mom believes more needs to
