Its been 24 hours since Hurricane Harvey made landfall in texas, and even though its been downgrade to do a Tropical Storm, the heavy rains are expected to linger for several days as residents try to keep damage to minimum. Harvey was the first category four hurricane to make landfall in the u. S. Since 2,004, and that is where we begin tonight at 10 00. Good evening everybody. Im joyce evans. Im dawn timmeney. While the strong damaging winds may be dying down the concerns over flooding in the coming days are still front and center. Foxs Lauren Blanchard joining us live now from galveston witness very latest. Lauren . Reporter hi, joyce and dawn. Yeah really windy here galvest galveston. Although harvey has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm, its that flooding that has so many people concerned here in texas. Officials warning theres potential for catastrophic flooding as harvey spins deeper into texas unloading huge amounts of rain. Even triggering more Severe Weather inland. Cell phone video and a pierce to show a tornado forming in cyprus, texas, aerials and siena plantations showing destruction from another tornado. Please do not come back into these affected areas until youve got all clear from your county or city uoc. Thats very important. So much Dangerous Things going on out there. We want to make sure everyone stays safe. Reporter this storm is expected to continue to drop rain on the region for several days with some areas getting up to 50inches. Harvey made landfall late friday crashing into Southeast Texas as category four hurricane. And weakening to category one by saturday morning. Homes and businesses along the coast between Corpus Christi and houston received the brunt of the storm. With damage ranging from downed trees to collapsed buildings. Many spending the night at storm shelters for displaced residents like this one in austin, texas. Meantime emergency crews are beginning rescue efforts as the storm calms down and flood waters rise. The message to those that may need help or rescue make sure you put that signal out there that you are still there and you still need help. Reporter officials remain on high alert and rescue crews are out in full force tonight as we are watching for some of this flooding. Joyce, dawn . Lauren, were hearing reports of some cruise ships that may have been impact in the gulf. What can you tell us about that . Reporter yeah. What we know there are four different cruise ships who are all supposed to head here to galveston, to galveston port. That port was closed down because of the weather. There are now 20,000 people stuck on the sea. Two of those ships are head to do new orleans. Two of the other ships are not going to come to galveston until they get the all clear. Guys i was talking to a couple little bit earlier who were supposed to be getting on to those cruise ships once they made it to port. Sharon Public Schoolteacher is charged with making terroristic threats and harassment and police say the incident happened right here at a rally ten days ago. Weve got temperatures in the 70s. 77 degrees along the delaware beaches for those water temperatures. Very nice. Now we are looking at a moderate rip current as we head into tomorrow.
