atlantic city it is 75 degrees. with the humidity you know it feels oppressive already. we have a few more scattered showers out there and our future weather says during the overnight a few more possibly into the early morning hours especially if you're early riser but then we take break could see a few more in the afternoon. excessive heat, yes, a warning now for the philadelphia area, i-95 corridor and the adjacent suburbs. thursday and friday it will feel like it's between 100 and 105 in this area tomorrow afternoon. so please try to drink lots of water and stay indoors in air-conditioning if you can. elsewhere the orange color looking at feels like readings around 100 it will be hot everywhere. as we take look at the heat indices over the next several hours by tomorrow at 4:00 o'clock it will feel like 103 in philadelphia even in millville it will feel like 100 and in atlantic city it will feel like 97. coming up we'll talk about how long this lasts, and when we see a break at least that humidity. i'll see you laterred in broadcast. >> all right, kathy, thanks. two rallies in separate philadelphia neighborhoods to honor work of law enforcement. locals coming together in mayfair and roxborough for participants it's a way to show officer support after a difficult few delays in the police community. chris o'connell is following these demonstrations live tonight in mayfair. chris? >> reporter: well, iain in a week filled with demonstrations and protests, many of those protests against police officers. to night a much different rally. in support of those same officers. >> respect, love and support. that's what they need. >> reporter: more than 200 people packed the corner of cottman and frankford avenues simply to say thanks. >> cops get a bad rap, you know, they're out there try to keep the community safe. >> reporter: back the blue rally part of a growing community movement to support police officers after last week's police ambush in dallas. >> the cops are being verbally beaten down. we need to remember that police -- >> it makes fee meal good. i worry every time my son-in-law or my nephew is out there that they come back home. >> reporter: the support for police is coming from all over. in delaware county, a four-year-old brings cookies and a note thank you the netter providence police department and civilian police advisory council just donated 12 police bicycles at 850 bucks a pop to the 24th district. >> if they know we're out there for them, and they can depend on us it makes it easier for them to do their job. >> reporter: family members say being a police officer these days maybe more difficult than ever before. >> he said it's his job. goes to work every day. it's what's happening when he walks out the door. >> how proud are you of him. >> really proud. >> reporter: with every honk, every sign, every thank you, officers say they feel the love. but with so much going on these days, they also know they're under the microscope. >> we don't wake up in the morning to go out and kill someone. we don't g wake up in the mornig to go out and hurt someone. our job is to protect and service the area. >> reporter: as this rally was ending a single protester came over to this rally with black lives matter sign. they were words he can changed in the end a touching moment when the wife of one of those police officers ended up hugging that protester. police say there were no problems here at the mayfair rally tonight. lucy? >> all right, thank you very much, chris. here's another look from the ground to have night's rally roxborough 100 people gathered to show support for police. >> sky fox over the ben franklin bridge tonight check it out lit up in blue in tribute to the five fallen police officers in dallas. emotional final goodbye to three of the five officers killed in that dallas police ambush. thousands of mourners tended services for brent thomas, sergeant michael smith and senior corporal lorne ahrens much services for the other two officers will be held later this week. he broke down to after police killed his father and now the teen son of the louisiana man that died is calling for piece in the aftermath. alton sterling's 15-year-old son cam ran sterling touched so many hearts when the reality of his father's death overwhelmed him on camera. it was mere hours after it had happened and now a week later, cameron says his father was a goodman and that his death was a sacrifice to show how bad things are in his neighborhood. sterling's death has stirred nationwide protests. cameron is empathizing and hoping for peace. >> i feel that everyone yes, you can protest but i want everyone to protest the right way. protest in peace, not guns, not drugs, not alcohol, not violen violence. >> and today baton rouge police announce the arrest of three people they say were plotting attack on police in the city. they're searching for a fourth person. lehigh county police are trying to figure out who shot and killed a barber in front of his shop. someone opened fire in the middle of the afternoon at the allentown business. investigators are still trying to figure out what led up to that deadly shooting. fox 29's dawn timmeney spoke to the victim's family. >> i couldn't believe it. it was like crazy. >> reporter: dugan is trying to make sense of his uncle's murder 40-year-old eric wagner was shot and killed as he sat outside his barbershop on the 100 block of south eighth street in allentown just before 4:30 yesterday afternoon. >> i don't know why. he's a good dude. provides for people. i don't know. crazy. >> reporter: wagner was his mentor. the high school senior has a full football scholarship to rutgers university. he says his uncle was instrumental in helping him. this is cell phone video of the two of them the day he tried o out. >> the whole process he was there like with me through the whole thing, so i mean, it was great. >> reporter: now this uncle, brother, husband and father of an eight-year-old son is gone after a man walking by the headliner's barbershop just shot him. this woman lives next door. she was inside watching television when she her the gunshots. >> pow pow pow pow. when i opened my door i seen the guy laying on the floor and i started screaming and hollering and crying and i call the cops, i think he's been shot. >> reporter: friends light candles on the sidewalk writ happened as tribute to wagner. neighbors say he was a nice guy and frightened the killer is still on the loose. >> it's not like it used to be where we can just go outside and play. now, you know, people pulling guns, shooting and you never know one will stray from that. >> very upsetting. very very upsetting. >> reporter: investigators are not commenting on a motive here. witnesses say the shooter got away down an alley. anyone with information is asked to call allentown police. dawn timmeney, fox 29 news. skyfox above the scene of a nasty crash. martin luther king drive in fairmount park where it happened right around 5:30 this evening. medics took three children and three adults to hospitals. police tell us none of the patients thank goodness are in critical condition. philadelphia international airport may need to find some people to work during the dnc because hundreds of workers just voted to go on strike during that last week in july. only 500 voted but up to thousand workers could walk off the job. >> they are demanding better working conditions so let's get straight to fox 29's brad sattin live at the airport. brad? >> reporter: lucy, there are about 20,000 people who work here at the airport you mention add thousand potentially going on strike during the dnc we're looking at one in 20, about 5%, but airport officials are saying that the impact during the dnc will probably be minimal if felt at all. others are not so sure. they have jobs we see like pushing wheel chairs, moving luggage and directing people towards security as well as behind the scenes work like cleaning the cabins and the plains now about a thousand employees could walk off the job just as the democratic national convention is coming to town. >> that's a huge, they help finding their luggage. they're some of the most important people. >> the workers are not part of any union and worry talking to us could get them fired but they are being assisted by the service employees international union. >> their employers have continue to do harrah's, threaten them, violate their right try and prevent them from organizing. at this point the workers are saying enough is enough we're going to strike. so yesterday majority of workers voted to go on strike. >> reporter: employees recently saw their pay increase to $12 an hour but say it's not enough to live on. they want $15. the workers are not airline employees. they primarily work for three contracted companies hired by the airlines. american airline telling us, we are working closely with the airport and subcontractors don not expect any impact to our operations or customer service ". philly international airport echoing that. saying the airlines are prepared to provide for whatever services need to be done. it is my understanding that they would bring management in or make contingency plans, we'll work hard tone sure atlantic city pop performin performing . >> the nfl will not punish lesean mccoy after a fight at a philadelphia nightclub. the da's office closed its investigation into the brawl. in april, philadelphia's da also declined to charge buffalo bills running back saying he could not prove mccoy started the fight. the football player and three friends got into the fight with two off duty police officers at the recess lounge in philadelphia's old city in february. the officers ended up with injuries including a broken nose and ribs. a change in leadership at temple university. we told you about it last night. the bore of trustees issued a vote of no confidence in the school's president. fox 29's bruce gordon shows us the financial trouble that led us here want it means for the university's future. >> reporter: most of the students we talked to couldn't tell us much about neal theobold or how his ouster might affect their temple education. >> he's representation of the shifted funds to fill that hole, but says kevin feeley, the board of trustees felt misled by theobold. >> it was relatively uninformed about both the size of the deficit, the growth of the deficit and the steps that being considered to resolve the deficit. >> reporter: feeley says those steps included floating the idea of a thousand dollar a year surcharge to be paid by temple juniors and seniors that idea was quickly shot down. item speal school on the rise, academically and athletically. now it will lose its provost and president within a month. art hochner is president of the faculty union. to reach theobold for comment. board of trustees is expected to appoint richard engler former administrator as acting president of the university. all this shuffling and reshuffle link at the top weekend the family of a delaware fair fighter who died during a training exercise will hold his funeral. earlier today dozens of firefighters and first responders from across the state took part in procession taking mc clan hasn't's body to a funeral home in lewes much his funeral is sunday. he died monday after falling out of a helicopter during a training exercise at the delaware coastal airport. the faa is now leading the investigation into what went wrong. a man accused of setting fire to home after a bar fight has been ored to stand trial on murder and related charges. today a judge upheld the charges against be a due rivera. prosecutors say in 2003, he got into a fight with boxer john santiago and accused rivera and his friends of going to the boxer's house in olney and throwing a molotov cocktail through the window. santiago and four relatives were killed. revert rah was charged in april after some witnesses came forward. a dramatic end to chase in alabama when the warrants out for the pair inn, fresh inside another state. to make things worst passenger's pants came off when she was thrown from the suv inside deputes found a pipe with methamphetamine residue. >> atmosphere no matter what the temperature is outside and that is very high reading right now 77 in the city. trenton 73. 76 in wrightstown. wilmington and dover at 77. not much of a difference down the shore. muggy there as well with temperatures in the 70s. and because of all this humidity, and the rain that we had earlier, we can even see some areas of fog overnight. looking at all those due point temperatures when you see a dew point of 70 or greater it is oppressive and we're seeing mostly 70s with the exception of the poconos. so we went from muggy to uncomfortable to oppressive and we'll stay in that category for at leave the next two days. on the fox future cast, you can see a few spotty showers possible during the early morning hours. by seven, 8:00 o'clock it should just be mostly cloudy and then as we go through the day we'll see some sunshine that will create additional instability in the atmosphere. then we see a spotty line of showers maybe a few thunderstorms develop by 3:00 o'clock. in the lehigh valley in philadelphia by about four, five. if it holds together and spotty down the shore by 6:00 it moves offshore. by friday a few showers moving through during the early morning hours but by the afternoon, it just looks like it's hot and humid again. during the overnight 74 in the city. very humid in some areas of fog. during the day tomorrow, the high 95 degrees. it will feel like it's about 100 to 103 in the afternoon. winds out of the southwest starting at 5 miles an hour but you'll notice in the afternoon it will get windy, a warm wind i don't know if it's going provide much relief but nevertheless scattered afternoon showers and storms. tomorrow orr will catch break. we're going down the shore and we're hoping it will be much more
