prendie locked down for more than two hours after police say one teen threatened to shoot someone. good evening, i'm iain page. >> i'm lucy noland. police arrested five students after a scary afternoon. fox 29's dave schratwieser is live in drexel hill tonight. dave? >> reporter: lucy, the five students arrested today range in age from 15 to 17. they have all been charged as juveniles tonight in an incident that caused some tense moments here today. bon nor prendie high school on lansdowne avenue went into lock down for just over two hours aft school officials received reports that a student entered the building with a loaded gun. >> put the gun in the hands of a 15-year-old or 16-year-old you don't know what's going to happen. >> i don't know. i don't think schools are safe any more. >> reporter: investigators acting oh and tip from a female student searched lockers of several students and turned up drugs ammunition and the fully loaded 9-millimeter in a girl's locker. >> when you got drugs and guns, that's a bad scenario. i mean you're looking for trouble. >> detectives say it all started with a suspect drug transaction involving three students at this trolley stop across the street. when a student threatened to shoot a female classmate in the foot students dispersed into the school a tipster told the principal a gun had been brought into the high school. >> the tipster witness was -- she did everything right. she's a hero. >> reporter: k9 and police swept through the school. police found marijuana in two students lockers they were arrested police stopped third student who had ammunition in his book bag and finally a fourth student with marijuana in packages. >> also charged with giving the gun to the young student whose a freshman. we find a fully loaded 9-millimeter in her locker. >> reporter: the female student who hid the gun in her locker was also arrested. >> i think they should have metal detector in the schools when you walk in they check you and that eliminates all the problems. >> nobody got hurt and everything was textbook perfect with respect providing protection for the students. >> reporter: now that gun was stolen from the brother of one of the suspects who was arrested here today. the gun was legally registered. four of the students were turned over to their parents after they were charged. the fifth student remains the hunter's glenn apartments along route 130. no one is injured thank goodness red cross is helping the families who now have no place to stay. the man who authorities say shot a police officer in west philadelphia over the weekend is being held without bail. a judge arraigned 23 year scott griffin on charges including a itemed murder. investigators say griffin shot officer james mccullough sunday during a botched carjacking. mccullough is out of the hospital. another man 20-year-old zamir koy yet was also arrested facing similar charges. things are moving much better tonight over the delaware memorial bridge. crews are making some emergency repairs which has made an absolute traffic nightmare for quite sometime for drivers on the jersey side of things. our brad sattin is at the scene at five and 6:00 o'clock tonight. no one was going anywhere very fast but here we are right now. 10:00 o'clock hour the speed limit is actually 35 miles an hour. it has been reduced but most of these vehicles going faster than that as you can see behind me, two of the four lanes are a go right now. however, expect more problems in the morning. what a difference a second lane makes. cars finally breezing by again as of 8:20 tonight about 80 minutes after that second lane on the delaware memorial bridge southbound was reopened. this is how it looked all day with just a single lane of with construction on the southbound span of the bridge going from new jersey into delaware, the backups on both 295 south and the new jersey turnpike went on for miles. at 6:30 tonight start of the clerk at the quick stop to give them everything in the register but instead the worker ran out the back door. one of the men grabbed a handful of food as he ran out the door if you recognize these guys, call police. new jersey schools forced to postpone a controversial test because of a computer glitch. students couldn't log on to the website to take the paarc test. the state educational commissioner says the problem lies with the company that creates the scam. the commissioner calling it completely unacceptable. the company confirms it did have a problem and says it's isolated to new jersey. it expects to have the website fixed by tomorrow morning. the parcc is a standardized test in math and english some parents and lawmakers rallied against it saying it's a waste of time. >> investigators say they do have some clues about what started this. fox 29's karen hepp explains. >> reporter: you can hear multiple explosions from the small car. melissa couldn't believe the dramatic scene unfolding right before her eyes on richmond street in bridesburg. >> i was just sweeping in the kitchen and just like a big boom. just -- iran out. seen the guy running out of the car end just started running just and then just like blew up. >> reporter: she grabbed her camera and started videoing. the driver had already escaped by diving out of his door with only seconds to spare. he did suffer some burns. >> he made it out. >> reporter: the car continues to erupt. even though it's a fire ball, you can still see other cars and even a schoolbus driving by the flaming wreckage. this guy starts to move in for a better look. >> i wouldn't go up to it. that's going below. >> reporter: and it does. >> i heard a big boom. you know, like that. i duck. reduction. >> reporter: neighbors were shocked. the violent explosions spewed car parts all over lawns hundreds of feet away. investigators think these are the culprits. two tanks one contained oxygen. the other a lean. they were in the trunk of the honda when something caused one of them to ignite and fuel the other to erupt. the bomb squad and the fire marshal investigated that found nothing suspicious. with such a fiery scene, richmond street was shut down for hours and traffic turned around while neighbors recounted what they were doing when they heard all heck break loose. >> we heard big boom. i came out of the house seconds after and there was black smoke starting to come out of the car and then i seen flaming before you know it the whole car was engulfed in flames. >> reporter: from brides burg, i'm karen hepp fox 29 news. philadelphia nun found guilty of drunk driving a municipal judge in washington township, new jersey, suspended sister kimberly miller's license for 90 days much she's also going to have to pay some fines. police say she was drunk when she drove her car into an auto repair shop in 2015ly. miller testified the last thing she remembers that night she was having a glass of wine and taking an ambien w she woke upshaw in handcuffs. >> local parents and students want answers. they say their delaware county school in infested with bed bugs and they want to know how school officials plan to get rid of them. fox 29's dawn timmeney has been talking with very frustrated families. it is upsetting. it's scary. >> reporter: amy parker is one of a number of parents extremely concerned about what they say is a bed bug problem academy park high school in sharon hill. tiny insects found throughout the school. including on a toilet in the girl's bathroom on a bench and on papers hasn't the to teacher by a student. >> we want something to be done like, hey, you know what, we found a case, here's the situation. we're working on it but you need to take precautions at home. they're not even owning up to the problem. >> reporter: high school sent a letter home monday saying there were no bed bugs dead or alive found at the school. but then parents say administrators admitted at a meeting last night there were several confirmed cases. this mom has pictures to prove it. she says her daughter brought him three bed bugs that were on her clothes. >> the two bed ones that were on her clothing that came off and this baby live one that was on her clothing. though just panicked and was scratching a lot. she freak out. taking a lot of showers. >> reporter: a number of parents posted pictures on facebook of their children's bed bug bites. neither the principal nor the southeast delco southeast superintendent would talk to fox 29 referring us to the district website. it states classrooms and hallways have been inspected and treated by a professional pest service. the library and auditorium where there are concerns of bed bugs are closed off until they can be checked out. >> i'm worried about them bringing them home. >> they get in everything. your furniture, your tv's, your light socks. once you have an infestation it's hard to get rid of. >> reporter: in the meantime this mother is take all kinds of precautions with her daughter in the tenth grade at academy park. >> undressing the trash bag. the trash bag goes into the drier. her bookings sneakers and her book bag everything else stays outside. >> reporter: some parents are even keeping their children home. the district website says detect dog is being brought in tomorrow to identify any areas for treatment. it's also encouraging parents to check students belongings and bookbags and to report any instances of bed bugs. dawn timmeney, fox 29 news. the mother of the man killed by a hit-and-run driver in west philadelphia over the weekend is now pleadin pleading for your h. someone found 27-year-old jamal morris lying in the road at 45th and market streets early saturday. medic rushed morris to penn presbyterian but died on monday. rescuers originally thought he was a victim of an assault until police found morris' damaged bike. his mom appeared on "good day philadelphia" this morning with a heart-breaking plea. >> help me fine the pesce who did this. i forgive him. i don't know what condition the driver was in when he hit my s son. but it's not about it. it is giving me comfort knowing that you admitted to doing this to my son. i'm a christian. so i don't hold grudges against anyone. so help me, philadelphia. i beg you. i beg you. please help me find the person who did this to my son. >> if you know anything, please call philadelphia police. twists and turns in the developing legal battle involving pennsylvania's attorney general. in montgomery county court today kathleen kane' lawyers withdrew a motion that accused prosecutors of leaking fbi information to a local newspap newspaper. they also decided to file a prosecutorial misconduct motion in public next week. kane remains in office but her law license is suspended. they say she leaked grand jury information then lied about it under oath. ♪ police drag a guy from the driver's seat of this car he's not side of the road. the driver had no pulse. one of the officers you saw him pulled him out and then started cpr. the driver finally came to and confessed to snoring heroin before the incident. he will not face any charges. armed with a gun a guy march noose a bar looking for cash. he had no idea he was about to meet his match. a woman holding a newborn baby in her arms. this is in france. you see the guy point the gun at the woman, baby in hand. she says walks right past the guy pushes the gun out of the way, hands the baby off. takes the bag from the guy and then starts beating him with it. reigning world champions of the brave new voi voices. >> we going to be all right. >> reporter: teenagers, 13 to 19 years old, poetry, songs and beats. human instruments. a very different sound of philadelphia. >> greg corbin is founder and executive director of the philly youth poe the tree movement. >> all right. very raw. these young people, they speak from very authentic truthful space that society often neglects or frowns upon. >> you have nothing to look forward to. >> reporter: he knows. greg says he comes from the same deep dark place. a place that silences, destroys spirits or ends the very lives of some of these young people. >> there's lot of issues come through our door. we talking about young people that have been neglected, abandoabandon at home or dealinh school. some young people don't feel walking to school or in school. >> reporter: greg program director kate minor and artistic director perry, maintain a safe place for these teens to open up and find their voices. >> i know you don't care enough to teach me today. >> some of them are like wait to go just burst. like all i was looking forward to was antennal. some of them you got to take the time. >> little simulation. >> reporter: she was failing in school. and in life. she only came here for extra credit. >> the table has totally flipped for me. because he was that student that didn't even want to come to school. now, i'm coming to school to share my knowledge. >> for them their poet tree gives space for them to speak back to a lot of the things they witness in the communities and say that he aren't going to be silenced. >> reporter: many here found their voices and stepped up their grades. through english teacher kate minor's poet tree club. >> this wonderland wasn't dream. >> reporter: at the academy at palumbo. like nadin. mike white, and smith. it. >> helps my confidence because i'm -- i can now are a you go safe and i know so i'm now more confident person with my knowledge and my words. >> this type of space it creates for you, a safe space to talk about what's going on with you. there's people with resources to help you. they helped me get through a lot of tough times in my life. >> you're putting your words o out. you know what had resonate with the crowd want the crowd doesn't like to hear. ♪ >> reporter: professional vo concussion any of the
