His funeral coming about 24 hours after his body was found about a mile from where he was last seen. Tonight, this Lakewood Community his hometown is in mourning. Deep sadness in the close knit Ultra Orthodox Jewish town of lakewood. The community is in mourning as word spread that the body of 23 year old aaron sofer was found about a mile from where he went missing in the jerusalem forest. Back home, local officials spent the day consoling family members including sofers nine siblings. There was some comfort in knowing that aaron did not meet a violent death that was perpetrated by kidnapping or terrorism. Israeli search crews scowered the area for any science of sofer who went missing while hiking with a friend last frid friday. He was last seen when they became separated near a steep incline.
