morning, thanks for joining us hump day wednesday january 7th. >> 2015. >> usually on the seventh day he rested. we should be home right now. >> stant reserved for sunday, sue, the seventh day? >> the sabbath and as often it is called, no resting today, although boy to be home in bed with the covers over your head, on a day like today, nice warm room if you have that luxury. hooray for you. it is cold outside. some of the indications the snow from yesterday gone, but seeing some lake effect snow coming across erie, into cleveland, into buffalo into erie pa, even into the central part of the state. you may see flurry or two before the day is through but nothing like we had yesterday. we'll check yesterday's snowfall totals in just a little bit. wanted to let you know how cold it is outside right now. 21 degrees, is the current temperature, southwesterlies at 5 miles an hour make it feel like 15. get used to these windchills in the teens because they'll probably be with us all day. our sunrise time is 7:23, and unlike yesterday we should actually see some sunshine later on. we have 12 degrees in mount pocono five, the actual temperature in lancaster, 17 in trenton and there is your 21 in philadelphia, 12 in millville, 28 degrees in wildwood. this is what it feels like, feels like it is in the teens or in the case of mount pocono below zero, windchills. and 21 degrees windchill in wildwood. so the wind speeds have not pick up to where they're going to be today. we'll have the wind come back today, but the winds isn't too bad right now. that is the deal with. that will so 25, is our whopping high temperature for today. mix of sun clouds, few flurries here and there i'll talk about how much colter will get tomorrow, and what happens after that, coming up in the seven day forecast. so, bob kelly now you have to hole on to the steering wheel again. >> i got to hold on to the steering wheel and finds my clicker so nicely tucked behind the monitor, but we're good to go this morning 4:02, happy wednesday and it could be little slippery ride this morning, here is a live look, we begin in palmyra, new jersey route 73, is where the roads are a mix of damp, dry maybe some icy spots out there. as you see the temperature 19 degrees right now so anything that did not evaporate on the overnight has the potential of being icy for us here during our morning rush hour. we will try to go to the next camera there see if that pops. we'll try the bridges, benny whitman, commodore barry wall speed restrictions this morning, that's going to be the case through the morning rush hour, again as you travel along, all of your major roadways, no report of any icy conditions, however side streets develop many, where again the icy patches could sends us for a spin here this morning problems all day yesterday at the airport so far so good, getting ready to jet to catch a flight out, market frank for line using shuttle buses to about 5:00 as they typically do, otherwise mass transit off to good start, and just remember on the regional rail lines all of the platforms could be icy the first go around here this morning. chris, lauren, back to you. >> firefighters trying to figure out what sparked a fire overnight at a home in bucks county happened in chalfont. took crews about two hours get things under control, and officials say everyone in that home escaped without injury. >> so following the first snow of the season everyone is now dealing with the bitter cold. >> steve keeley in maple shade, new jersey for more. oh no. >> okay? >> if i could look this day every day this would be a good career move for me if i could hide my face the better my career would be. >> your career as a bank robber? >> i'm not trying to be cool with the sunglasses at night but the sun. >> cents block the winds. you guys won't see me crying on the air so sunglasses actually are coping me warmer. and that is the only spot on my face that's even exposed to the air today. so we are down the street from where bob kelly i want to actually try to be serious now, route 73, we're in maple shade, and this road is pretty good. i just drove on t not black ice on this road, but that's the big warning today with everything re-freezing despite all of the salt that they laid on the road yesterday, and the little bit of snow, but when it did melt, it does form as ice especially on the roads that are not as traveled as highway like route 73 is. now, we talked to a lot of people out yesterday joanne talk to people, salting steps on the art museum because people won't miss their workouts this morning for sure, but when you run up and down the art museum steps we are warning you about how slippery steps are, there are 72 steps. i knew because joanne pell i can i was nice enough to walk up and count them yesterday. she talked to the guys who were salting them yesterday. >> put thermals on, double layer clothes, drink plenty of hot stuff, hot tee, hot chocolate you like staying warm. >> got to be extra challenge but not too bad. >> you wouldn't want to go down with that thing on your shoulder? >> no, absolutely not. >> i'm hoping this is as cold as it gets, because i can't take it any colder. i don't like the cold. i want to move to a sunny island but, you know, do you what you got to do. >> so yesterday i was saying it wasn't so bad because there was no wind yesterday. today, it is colder, and it is breezy out which makes it even worse, and i'm not even going to the heaviest artillery, saving the neoprene socks for tomorrow. but we will have different fashion statements, a lot of fun stuff, different ways to keep warm, including a pet you know, between you to keep your pets inside, avenue stray i took home, who normally lives outside didn't budget out of his heated blanket in bed today. you'll see him. he will be the star of the show i'm sure. and we also want to warning you not only about the black ice on the road, but driving with your radio the vanilla ice warning because you're instant reflex to switch the station, you want to be careful specially if that go song comes on on oldies station, be gentle, two hands on the wheel, so when go to switch the station, slowly do it. >> so that's your black ice and vanilla ice warning for the day. >> that was the most i have rev rent report i've ever seen from you. and that's saying a lot. >> that's just for the 4:00 viewers the five, six people that are up watching, not counting the people in the control room, who are asleep still i think. >> clearly, they actually took your shot live. they're definitely asleep at the switch. steve, thank you. >> weather ma have i played a role in a deadly accident in west oaklane happened shortly after 9:00 last night on the don't believe the suspects live there. >> it is shocking and concerned. i do walk around the neighborhood a lot my sister lives two blocks down, she walks with her four month old babe a lot. i've capsule in boston finally revealed, that takes us back to the 1700s. we'll show you what they found >> when all was said and done yesterday, we ended up with little over 2 inches in chaddsford pennsylvania, and most fell in what we predicted, 2 inches in vineland, west chester 1.7 little over inch in atlantic city, very windy there yesterday, and officially at philadelphia international one and a half inches of snow yesterday. so add that to the .1 of an inch we had for the season so far, 1.6 for the whole entire season. at this time last year we were at about 20 inches already. and on our way to 68. just saying. now, here are the temperatures you're dealing with right now as you walk out the door struck to go out this early. 17 degrees in trenton, 12 in mount pocono, 14 in reading only five in lancaster, 15 atlantic city, 21 degrees in dover, delaware, windchills are in the teens below zero in the higher elevations, winds haven't kicked up as much as they're going to, bad news for steve keeley, winds will be increasing specially after sunrise this morning. so ultimate doppler has little bit of snow off the delmarva peninsula there and little bit in the central part of the state this is a result of the really cold winds that blew in the wake of yesterday's clipper system. that will cold front. women, there is another one that's on the way and it will kick in later today. soap, now we have a windchill advisory in effect tonight into tomorrow morning for dangerous windchills that will be as much as five to 10 degrees below zero, that's what it will feel like outside. and that can give exposed skin frostbite very quickly that will be tonight into tomorrow. so, cold enough today 24 degrees but then tomorrow, we rise to high of only 22, after morning low of about eight 9 degrees and those windchills below zero, it is brisk on friday, high of 36 but the wind comes back, sunny, cold on saturday, partly sunny on sunday, and the possibility of some precipitation monday and tuesday. that's still little if-ee. but if we get it it, would start out with snow. then as temperatures warm up change-over to rain. next two days, bob kelly cold cold, cold. >> c-c-cold. four have 16, on a wednesday morning, definately chilliment make sure the kids are bundle up make sure you're bundle up, give the chance for the the car, carseat option, make sure the seats are nice and warm. i-95, today little tricky. this time yesterday we were anticipating the storm coming our way. so everything was dry. this morning things are still little damp, and if it looks like it is wet, it is most likely iced over. and here's what you want to look out for, live look at harbison avenue. so rolling along harbison avenue, but go to make the right turn, right here, where you will find that ice. so turn left to right turning lanes, secondary roads your side street, there is the possibility, where that black ice, that fine glaze, is laying waiting there for us, also, coming in from south jersey, another example any of the overpasses, this is a fly-over ramp from route 70, to the admiral wilson boulevard. if you look close, you can see some glare on the roadway. that's a sign that that some ice there. that's what's going to get just trouble as we begin our wednesday morning, in burlington, new jersey, route 130 southbound, all lanes are block at route 413 because after accident. in winslow some downed wires result of an overnight accident along williamstown road at grove street. schuylkill expressway, not bad at all as you're driving into downtown speedometer readings at 50. no problems at all working your way past the zoo interchange, into downtown, again, any of the on and offer ramps, maybe at the bottom of those ramps. be ready hitting the brakes. could be icy spots there. all of the bridges have reduced speeds, down to 35 miles an hour, so that will take us a little longer to get across the span, and of course the rush hour will be a little tighter. no problems this morning at the airport, i know we had big delays yesterday. at least we start the day on a good note at philly end shall until -- international. >> one who of the new york city officers injured during a robbery and shooting late monday night is expected to be released from the hospital today, two suspect under arrest jason facing attempted murder and robbery charges, second suspect joshua kim charged with robbery. now the shooting against the officers comes just two weeks after two other new york city police officers were killed in a ambush. the city's know, you can show us how your styling in the colds, as well, because it is all about the warmth, not the style. now that the system from yesterday, that cold front the clipper system came through, we've got cold air moving across the great lakes for us, the snow is over, but the winds are starting to pick up little bit. you can see that on the wobble cam here at philadelphia international. 21 degrees right now but feels like 15, sunrise at 7:23, so more temperatures, these are the actual temperatures, and they're in the teens north and west of the city, 20's, some of them, to the south of usment only 12 in millville. and the windchills are making it feel even coal, feels like it is below zero, in the pocono mountains but the winds haven't pick up to where they're going to be. probably get some 35-mile per hour wind gusts later on today and tonight. so, we had the first snowflakes yesterday and we only got to 24 degrees, and we'll probably be right around that for a high temperature today when we should be at 40. twenty-five is what we're going for with a mix every sunday and clouds, and we can't rule out a flurry or two, with that lake effect maybe making its way here, so little snow burst here and there, possibility today. but nothing measurable like we what we had yesterday. wasn't dramatic but certainly caused enough of a mess, and this morning, bob kelly maybe few icy spots. >> yes definitely. well starting a new tune there, all about the warmth, about the warm, about the warmth. come on, we have to work on the lines for that one. 4:32, all about the ice. if you're headed out the front door right now that first step could be icy the driveway, your secondary roads, your side street, tip this morning if it looks wet it is most likely iced over. and the major roadways are okay, as we look live here, 476, when go to change lanes all it will take is just for that fine little patch of left over ice from yesterday, the bridges, the overpasses, here's the onramp, from the blue, from the mid-county interchange, down toward the schuylkill. again, you can casino of see the ice the wet spots kind of rolling into the travel lane. that's where we are going to get into trouble as we roll into our morning rush hour. 35 miles an hour, up and overall of the area bridges we're zoomed in on the speed limit sign for the ben franklin bridge, watch it in the toll plazas, coming to a stop and get ready -- get ready to pay the toll. freeway, light volume coming in toward the city. two accident, one here in burlington, new jersey, route 130 southbound, all of the southbound lanes are blocked at keim boulevard. and then out here in winslow williamstown road, an accident took down some wires at grove street. the schuylkill expressway, i-95, the blue route all of the majors, speedometer readings averaging about 50. just watch when go to exit, when you come to the bottom of the off the ramps bottom, the stop sign, that could be aisles dollars over a loft sidewalks could be icy as well as you head out the front door to the offers this morning. mass transit though, looking good. chris, lauren, back over to you. >> bob, thanks so much. firefighters battled house fire in bucks county late last night, it happened just before 10:30, curly mill road. it took two hours to get continued control. everyone in the home escaped without injury. no word on version of jaw after jaw's came out in the 70s somebody had had their first role in orca, do you know who was bitten by the shark. >> bo derek, dude, you need to go on jeopardy. >> now look, real quick -- >> i got quick question for you. you mentioned you worked in cleveland. is that correct? >> yes. >> so what was cold, cleveland or buffalo, new york? >> cleveland was colder. we were both on lake erie. the problem with cleveland they would send us out where there is water intake thing is right behind the stadium and the frostbite possibility was ridiculous there. they make us do all of our live shot there. you got like 50-mile per hour winds, you got the lake effect snow you couldn't even see between you and the camera guy because it was to would be completely white like what's the point. but they would always sends us out on that spot right by the rock-and-roll hall of fame, which i also saw get built day-by-day. the phrase real quick, you never need that on my live shot. these are like six minute hits. >> i know. >> i told you i brought a lot of props today. one thing lady friend who takes care of me, here is one of the many gift she got me, a fireplace, which i brought with me today. >> oh, my goodness. >> and an electric fireplace. look at that. now, look it, actually is a heater. it is a space heat war fireplace look. and it really gooks good at night. we're in wawa parking lot here in maple shade. so i'll be sitting on this, i'm not cold at all. i'm not cold at all today. >> are you going to like get crowds of people to come out there one, steve? you're character. smores, bob kelly says smores. >> i'm wondering if you can toast marshmellows with space heater. i don't know if that's space plus keeping it far away from the gas pumps because we have a heat combustible thing here, i don't know if that's a safe thing, but far enough from the gas pumps i'm told. look, we do have some video to show you. let's go to the video i talk about at 4:00 the guy salting the art museum steps. no video? told no video. i like they tell you no video after you call for the video live on tv. >> i think that's a subtle way of saying we're out of time for the sunday. now, in the video you can see the two thieves wearing hooded sweatshirt, plotting to nab the statue outside the church. once the coast is clear they move in and one every them grabs the baby jesus before the dudes runoff. >> tough to think about fashion when you have kids around. but one instagram account is taking your style to a whole >> we are putting things in perspective, it will be very cold but one year ago today january 7th, was the colds he is day we got in 2014. we had a morning low of 4 degrees, and that was and still stands, as the record for this date, january 7th. and the daytime high was only 13 and we had windchills that were even colder than that. so that was one year ago today. now let's talk about what happened yesterday. 2.3 inches every snow in chaddsford vineland, new jersey we clocked in at about 2 inches, close to two in west chester, atlantic city little over an inch, and official total at philadelphia international inch and a half. sole temperatures are in the teens, north and west of us, although we had the single digit temperature in lancaster, still few clouds around, so these temperatures could have got answer lot colder and they will, tomorrow morning 28 degrees, in wildwood. windchills are in the teens and a single digit windchill in philadelphia, right now so these are getting to the point where it is going to be a little dangerous to be outside, for any lent of time. soap we've got wind in store for today you've heard of dumb and dumber? well, this is cold and colder today, and tomorrow, clipper system coming through flurry or two looking at the future cast really you could see it any time, little snow burst little flurry today cold air moving across the lakes little moisture coming down, maybe about noon, 1:00, the possibility for a little snow here and, there but it is not going to be measurable, just the kind of flakes flying around mostly just snow flurries so, let's get to that seven day forecast today coiled 24 degrees, 22 tomorrow, 24 was yesterday's high so, we will be just as cold but will feel colder because of the winds the winds is coming back today. brisk friday, could get mix of precipitation monday and tuesday, of next week, but does look like this weekend will be dry. there is your seven day forecast so, bob kelly who are you folks doing early this morning? >> you know, it is an early start, 4:48 this wednesday 21 degrees, nothing has melted, from yesterday so anything that is still left out there 21 degrees, has a tendency of laying there nice icy glaze, first step, the driveway, maybe some of the on and the off-ramps could have some patches of ice. major roadways in good shape. live look at the schuylkill expressway, rolling westbound out every town, live look at the roosevelt roosevelt billion dollars any of the bridges or the overpasses as that winds can swirl, tendency for the overpasses and bridges little yellow signs that say they've a tendency to
