are saying about the wife that could be a game changer in the case. >> officer darren wilson breaks his silence for the first time since shooting and killing michael brown. how he says that situation unfolded that has sparked violent protests across the country. >> good day everybody, it is 4:00 wednesday, november 26th, 2014, if it is already snowing in your area, tweet us your photos. use the #fox29goodday. are you mocking me? >> little bit. >> putting live on the air. more that far to come. >> never quite see you use your hand so much. >> feeling very expressive today. some schools already closed. sue will be talking about that, or letting kids leave early because of the werth. so we'll have those schools scrolling across the bottom of your screen, on my way into work, getting into the city, i already saw a slew, not a slew, but good amount of people with their suitcases, catching cabs, headed to the airport, because i think people are trying to get early jump on things before the weather hit. >> our neighbors left yesterday, head up to massachusetts, to beat not only the traffic but the wetter. >> i think it is a good idea, from some flexability, yesterday, or tomorrow, may be the best times, or right now. we'll show you why in a second. here is your winter storm warning. now, it is in effect for lancaster, berks, lehigh, carbon, monroe, and the western halves of chester, montgomery and bucks county. this is where we're going to get the highest accumulations, once we change over to snow. and we actually haven't done that yet. now, winter weather advisory, much milder, for delaware county, philadelphia, and the southern or eastern halves of bucks, montgomery, chester county, these counties so big, weather service divides them in half when they issue their advisories, this is for a couple of wet, slushy inches of snow. so, temperatures, right now, are too warm for snow. we have 50 degrees in philadelphia. it will be awhile before we see the change over here in the city. we barely even have the rain moving in right now, but coal nerve allentown, 38 degrees, 36 mount pocono, the area we will be watching for the change over. they haven't even started when their precipitation yet. 45 degrees in wildwood, 45 in dover, too warm for snow. so you see here on ultimate doppler, all rain at the moment, heavy rain, parts of virginia, and now it is starting to edge into southern delaware, we've got some rain in lewes, delaware, down in ocean view, around bethany, and we also have jersey shore rain north wildwood, sea isle city, ocean sit, see the darker green moving in there. these are the areas where it is probably not going to change over at all until maybe right at the very end, north of us, abington, norristown, probably not making it to the ground yet, this rain, and this is our latest expected snowfall total map. i think right here along i95, right inbetween the border of one to two, to two to 4 inches, wet, sloppy snow, four to 6 inches around doylestown, pottstown, north that far we could get six or more inches. so that's what we expect for the day. and we will be with you all the way. i had to rhyme it, bob kelly, just did. >> rhyming on a wednesday morning, good morning, sue. 4:04, good morning, everybody. ready to start singing? come on, on the way to cape may ♪ on the way to cape may ♪ here you go. sue showed us it is already starting to rain down the shore, live look, right in the heart of cape may, this morning, so again that precipitation starting to roll through. so again it will just be one of those yucky morning rush hours ahead of us, as we continue to travel with the cameras here, 202, in the construction zone, the big bright white lights are on in chester county near 401. this is probably the last of the crews that are out, and off to the shoulder, laying some concrete. no problems in the actual travel lanes. and then we go to northeast philadelphia, i95, right near cottman avenue, we are good to go. speedometer readings where they should be across the board this morning. we do have accident, early accident on the pennsylvania turnpike, near the ft. washington interchange, blockage in both directions, the left lanes are blocked, right around that center barrier. and then eastbound on the schuylkill expressway going to pull out of the king of prussia toll plaza, head east in toward conshohocken, again, start today see little bit after sprinkle on my way in here as you came eastbound on the schuylkill expressway. mass transit, new jersey transit, because of the snowstorm coming here, cross-honoring all of their tickets system-wide today on all of the new jersey buses and trains, and the closures for the big thanks giving day parade tomorrow begin later on tonight at 6:00. they had the drives closed last night, the inner drive of the parkway, and access leaving the city later on, it will be a little tough. your best bet, stick with the majors like the vine expressway and the schuylkill s. >> bob, you will be busy, too, what a mess. >> this nor'easter is expected to cause a lot of trouble as people are headed out and about. >> tens of millions of people on the roads or in the area for the holiday. better pack their patience. >> steve keeley live at philadelphia inch national airport this morning, steve, good morning to you. >> how about starting the day with one of those ah-hah moments. look at the kid with the little leopard hat on. what thanksgiving is all about, going to see grandmom, mom holding him with all of the luggage on the rack, including that one of those baby carriages, where mom looks like a jogger, and she'll probably be putting a lot of miles on her feet just here in the airport today. but look, everything is calm, cool, collected, here at the airport so far. my first thanksgiving where i am extra thankful, too, out of the cold, out of the rain, out of the snow, safely and warmly, here in the airport, and where the bad weather on the way is not making it bad here yet. no canceled flights, no delayed flights here in and out of philly so far. but even before midnight, not too far from philly, up at newark's liberty airport, new york city jfk, 210 flights pre-emptively canceled because they know bad weather is on the way, they have learn their lesson not to have people sitting on planes, on a tarmac, waiting ten hours to take off or to get back into the terminals and then getting fined by the federal aviation administration. so people that had flights later today, when the real bad stuff will hit, already having to scramble to find new flight. a lot of people we met yesterday out here were surprised that the airlines were being so nice on thanksgiving saying we're not even going to charge you, if you want to change your flight and leave early to get to where you are going and get there before the bad weather hit. here are some of the travels we talked to yesterday. >> plan ahead to get there in time so that they can play their 7:00 a.m. game on thanksgiving morning. >> were you worried about the weather at any point? >> no, i just keep my fingers crossed. >> the most important thing to do before you leave your house, before you come to the airport, check with the airline, check our website to see what the status of your flight s has it been delayed or on time. don't come until you know what that is. >> see the problem is even when bad weather doesn't really hit philly it, does hit the airport because a lot of the planes coming in here later today would be coming from places that have been wallopped by bad weather and the planes couldn't get here. that's how the delays cause a residual effect at all of the airports around the country, specially along the east coast today, and these big cities from boston, down to dc, we're going to have a lot of troubles later today. so very smart people who are either book or rebooked their flights and are flying right now in these early hours before there is any problems out here. so how about that? some good news to start this long weekend that's going to be sure having a little bad news when it comes to travel later today. >> and more good news, we understand us airways is changing any change fees due to the timing of the storm? >> yes, that's what all of the travelers were so happen which. airlines were making a lot of money. this is superbowl weekends to them. the cost of jet fuel way down, but the cost of particular sets not going down. why should they cut cost when is they know every ticket on every plane is practically booked and making more money for more luggage. look at all of the luggage the lady has with the little kid. she has expensive flight just putting all of that luggage on her bag check. so, they're doing okay, so at least they are being nice on thanksgiving by saying no extra fee for changing your flight, and people were very happy about that. >> you know they don't charge you, they don't charge you for strollers, and carseat and all of that stuff. that doesn't count against in you terms of your check luggage. that's helpful, as women. >> thanks. >> 4:09. of course with thanksgiving tomorrow, the snowstorm is adding to everybody's holiday stress. >> fox 29's jennifer joyce live in west chester this morning with a look at the rush ahead of both the holiday and the storm, jen. >> reporter: yes. we pulled up at this shoprite here in west chester, we thought all of these piles, oh, they've had to be salt. well, no, it is soil, and we have some mulch. i don't think too many people will be doing their gardening today. actually last night we had sabina at wegmans in cherry hill where people had to park several stores over because it was packed, as people prepped for the storm, and the holiday. while the thanksgiving staples, turkeys, dinner rolls, et cetera, were the must-have items yesterday, equally as important was the salt and snow shovels. people gear up for the first snowfall of the season which co-inch sites with the busiest travel day of the year. wegmans says that people have been calling and asking to pick up their pre-order groceries early to try to avoid the wet mess that's expected today, as if the holidays aren't stressful enough. >> snowstorm definitely made me russian, yes, i want to be sure that i had all of my shopping done today. >> after what we had last year, what they had in buffalo, can't touch it. >> as the family preps for the holidays, gearing up for the storm, penndot said last winter spread record 172,000 tons of salt in the philadelphia region for the 68 inches of snow that fell. and live look back here, at shop rite, we do see some rock salt in the window here. penndot is urging people to think about delaying their travel until after this storm passes. but if you do have to drive, they recommend that you keep six car lent between you and other drivers. so good reminder, i don't think i ever leave six car lent, but roam important, especially people are stressed trying to get to their destinations, things might be extra crazy on the roadways. chris, kerry? >> remind me never drive in front of you then. >> six car lengths. >> you can't do this in jersey, they jump right in front of you. >> she said, really good reminder. keep your eye on the storm. meantime, coming up on 4:12, the death of the wife of ceo has been ruled a homicide. >> but authorities haven't determined how her husband died. the rest of the questions this morning, according to several published reports, that information was noted in their recently filed death certificate. prosecutors office hasn't said what caused the couple's death, but they have said that a fire at their home that morning was set intentionally. there are also reports that both of them had multiple stab wounds, joyce sheridan retired teacher, john of course worked at cooper university hospital in camden. >> so imagine your kids walk to go school across a busy four lane road because there are no buses for them. a local school board is aim to go change that reality in their town, why some parent say it is not going to >> ultimate doppler telling the tail this morning, it is too mild for snow. and it may be a while before we see the change-over. once you see the temperatures, you'll see what i am talking b but most of the state of delaware looks like it is raining right now, where you see the lighter green up around philadelphia, north of us, few sprinkles. let's zoom in little closer to few places it, looks like the green is getting darker around haverford this morning, so starting to see your showers there, it is just rain in allentown, around reading, as well down to the jersey shore, not only heavy rain now, expected to remain heavy all day long. jersey shore point, there may be some flooding, probably get some watches, warnings, out later. here we come to 8:00 in the morning. our future cast, and we see the change over happening in the places where we had the winter storm warning, in lancaster county, in berks county, parts of chester county. see how cold air will come down, start the change over further south, and so now we see part of moth gemmery and bucks getting some of the snow and it is 11:00 in the morning now, and still on the border here in philadelphia. whole nine will be tricky when it change over, may not be until noon or 1:00 in the afternoon, by then the coal air is really rushing in. storm on it way out, so by 11:00 tonight, all will be out of here, and thanksgiving will be dry. so, there is your winter storm warning. 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., for those areas, highlight in the pink, your winter weather advisory, doesn't start until 9:00, because the change over will be later, in these counties, and this is just for couple of slushy inches of snow, thank goodness we had that 72-degree day on monday it, will keep the grounds kind of warm, so there is your borderline between one to 2 inches, two to 4 inches along i-95, and there will be very little accumulation expect in the new jersey, two to 4 inches there, four to 6 inches to the north of it is. look at the temperatures, still too coal for snow in mount pocono not so in leighton, but allentown, roo degrees in philadelphia, we won't see that change over for awhile here in the city, so that's good news, if you still have some things you want to do this morning. 46 degrees in cape may, and a lot of kids are going to school this morning, as well. keep that in mind. so temperatures falling through the 30's, throughout the day, and it will be slippery in spots, but then we dry out tonight overnight low around 30 degrees. so one day special, bob, mother nature couldn't have pick a worse day. >> going to school, don't you dare close my school earlier and send my kids home. full day. i'm paying tuition. 4:18, live look at some of the roadways, down the shore, route 47 outside of wildwood. see the rain falling, starting to see the precipitation roll from the south roll to the north as sue mentioned, live look at the new jersey turnpike, actually, no, this is route one, down in delaware. so, again, all of the roads depending where you begin and ends your trip, starting to see the precipitationment live look at creek road, outside of gulph mills there. again be careful getting ready to roll out of the driveway, otherwise speedometer readings, a 5 miles per hour on 422, headed up to the poconos, this weekend, again, the further north and west you go, the sooner you'll see the white stuff. that certainly will impact our travel today. now, we had overnight accident on the pennsylvania turnpike. it is eastbound, right lane taken out, right near the ft. washington interchange. getting ready to head north on 202, jen's down there in west chester headed northbound up past immaculatta headed in toward king of prussia crews are pick zero picking up the cones. you will not see any active construction zones today, but you will have those lane pattern shuffles that have come into play over the last couple of month the out there. septa, buses, trains, trolleys, do you have good start, no delays, chris, kerry, over to you. >> absecon new jersey school board, bussing for student temporarily homeless or whose families are experience ago hardship. showing us the 1.8-mile loud along white horse pike that she has had to walk her eight year old son along every day in order to get to school. dozens of kids are living in motel, along the strip, and without transportation to ashton marsh elementary. parent say this four lane road is obviously busy, and dangerous. >> there is only bits and pieces of sidewalk. we don't have sidewalks. so we're forced to walk in the side of the road, in the shoulder of the road. >> the district's policy might not help everybody, though, because families might not be considered homeless if they've lived in a hotel for a year. >> it requires families to apply for bussing, mixing will be reviewed by the district housing coordinator and then approved by the superintendent. >> police dealing with second straight night of unrest over the grand jury decision in ferguson, missouri. last night was a much calmer one than the previous night. though officers did have to extinguish a police car set on fire. several arrests were made, meanwhile, there is a huge response from the national guard in ferguson, in fact, they have tripled their numbers to try to keep things calm. protests here in philadelphia, unlike ferguson, have been relatively peaceful. >> they have. several hundred protesters, marched through center city for a second day. they travel around city hall and up broad street, waiving signs, and chanting, many are still very angry over the decision in ferguson, philadelphia police, though, say there were in area he cents yesterday. >> and for the first time since the deadly encounter on august 9th, police officer, darren wilson; breaking his silence in a interview with abc news, wilson insists he could not have done anything differently during that confrontation with michael brown. he says he has a clean consideration because -- clean conscious, because, quote, i know i did my job right, end quote. describe the events leading to up brown's death. >> he grabbed the top of my gun, and while he is doing that, i can feel his hand kind of come over my hand and get inside the trigger, try and shoot me with my own gun. and that's when i pulled the trigger for the first time. >> wilson had been with the ferguson police force for less than three years, before that august shooting. he says brown's shooting was the first time he fired his gun on the job. >> time now, 4:22, one city is taking both steps to help retail workers stuck working the holidays, the first of it kind bill that's inspiring the holidays, the first of it kinddeciding between buying food and health care is no longer a problem. healthy pa offers name-brand health insurance for the cost of a few basic groceries. if you're uninsured, visit healthypa.com to learn more. >> seeing else one day away from that game, people in this town they always want the cowboys seen know though trophies awarded during the season, now it is a game with last year's leading rusher, that would be lesean mccoy, against the leading rusher right now in the fl. , demarco murray but in the end it is still the cowboys and the eagles and the players know what this is all about. >> can't stand the cowboys. >> so-called america's team, so i think it casino of stirs up a little bit of the hatred. >> get most of your center action from social media, or when you meet fans in public, you know, they'll say nice to meet you, just remember to beat dallas, they'll let you know. >> big five basketball last night, temple and penn, fran dunphy, it tough this year. temple wins it, the leading scorer mark williams with 24. that's sports in a minute, and i'm howard eskin. >> time now 4:25, san francisco law makers have passed a workers right bill. now there is means new protections for retail employees, the measure aims to give retail staffers more predictable schedules and access to extra hours for part-time workers. would require business toss post workers schedules, at least two weeks in advance, and workers will be compensated for last minute changes. the san francisco chamber of commerce does not like this bill saying it is a burden to business owners. but the mayor is expected to sign it. >> all right, 4:26 right now. jurassic world is open. it took 13 years, but the first new jurassic park movie since 2001 is debuting it first trailer. wait until you see what this new movie has in store. then sue serio tracking this winter storm. hey, knew. >> yes, we're not scared of the winter weather. more scared of dinosaurs. why are we not scared of the wintery weather because we'll prepare you for t we'll take you through the entire day, tell you what to expect, and when, coming up. >> we're on top of your storm coverage, looking liver at the radar, take a look at this. >> how will this affect your travel plans? we've got you covered. >> every other little girl out there. >> her family tacking very big steps, to make her feel normal again. she has been given a brand new ear already fashioned with an earring. yes, but this is just the start. she has very long medical journey, we'll tell you what's next for hill. >> it is wednesday, november 26, 2014. it is already snowing in some parts, so we want to see your photos, tweet them, use the #fox29goodday. we'll put them on air. some schools are closed today, letting kids leave school early, balls of the weather, as well, we'll have those school closures and early closings scrolling across the bottom of your screen all morning longline deed we r people are getting jump start on the weather already leaving for their thanksgiving destination, probably good idea. >> makes us feel good. we know that you are paying attention to us yesterday, when we said, try to be flexible with your plans. i know that the winter storm warning is now extends from the lancaster, berks, lehigh, northampton, carbon, monroe counties, now down to the western halves of chester, montgomery, and bucks, that's winter storm warning, that's the higher accumulations. we're only under winter weather advisory now, in philadelphia, delaware, and even half, up where trenton is, lighter accumulations, i think it is just going to take a longer time for us to switch over from the rain to snow. look at these temperares, way too warm for snow here in philadelphia. it is 50 degrees. it is going to take a long time for the change over here. less time in mount pocono, and allentown, where we're already in the three's, we have 40 degrees in pottstown. so we have a ways to go to get to freezing, i don't think we'll ever see the change over down in south jersey. here's what's happening right now. the only place we can see little bit of pink, the mountains of west virginia there, and western maryland, but for us, we're seeing just rain, rain, rain, and it is starting to move in from southwest to northeast. so the jersey shore, delaware beaches, heaviest rain we see this morning on this map are in places like sea isle, ocean sit, new jersey, here in philadelphia, the rain starting to move in, it is pretty light at the moment. and, again, with the temperatures, it is going to be a while, but once we get the change over, we could get the lighter amount, one to 2 inches, or maybe the two-four, depends on just where you're long the dividing line. but the further north and west go, the more accumulation we're expecting. it will be heavy wet snow. could bring down some tree limbs. just make things a little bit messy. so again, these are the places, winter storm warning, does not go into effect though until 7:00 a.m. so bob kelly, it is just wet roadways right now. >> wet roadways, there go, good morning, sue. 4:32, good morning, everybody, one. busiest travel days of the year, and already starting to see that precipitation fall, and i am pact our roadways, sue just showed us. live look from down the shore, just outside every wildwood here. route 47, the roads, intersection wet, that will impact your commute this morning. how much, we will roll on up to doylestown, where we are dry as a bone, at least for the moment. that's an example of where you begin and end your trip, again, right at the moment, roads could be dry, other could be wet. already the party getting started. 55 miles per hour on 95. no problems there on the turnpike except out here, near ft. washington eastbound, and overnight accident has the right lane blocked, right now, near the ft. washington interchange. and we go for a fly, this is taking it for a fly here, the blue route, 4726 leaving saint david's villanova, good shape headed all the way down toward i-95, and thanksgiving day parade of course tomorrow, but the closures will go into effect tonight around 6:00. practicing last night, leaving center city closer to 6:00 this evening. put little sticky tab on the dashboard and avoid that kelly drive or the parkway because they'll have all traffic blocked, you want to use the 676 or the schuylkill to get out of town. good news for mass transit here, new jersey transit travelers, will cross cross-honoring all passes system-wide today because of the expected bad weather. otherwise, septa, mass transit, the buses, trains, trolleys, all running with no delays. so that's a check of the roads. a check of the rales. how else are we going to get there? we are going to fly. so going down to philadelphia international where steve keeley for the first time in a while, no jacket, in the nice warm confines of philadelphia international. >> once you get on good day, they need you in the tower today, where traffic will be back up, and they could use bob kelly, can you imagine that, bob kelly, calling the flights in the faa tower. it will be great. and they said -- >> runway seven, runway seven. >> they'll be paying in you dunkin donut, too, which should make you happy. bob, do have bad news, we new it wasn't last. first canceled flight. so we had all on-time on the board, at 4:00. here we go. the first of what is expected to be few concellations, and there it is, manchester, new hampshire, and that's what you likely call a pre-emptive cancellation, since the weather hasn't really shrugged us yet, but they expect bad weather today. so before all of the flight get back up on runways, they're going to do all of thee things call pre-emptive concellations, we'll explain later. spin around, there is gram mom over there taking five kids including this little turkey here, with his angry bird sweatshirt on, and i only know that's angry birds because the man behind the camera is mr. video game, he said that's a video game character. so five grandkids to disney world. >> i know, so exciting. >> did you move your flight or did you just time it perfect? >> i time it perfect. >> so far everything is good? >> we're good. we're going to detroit at 5:50. >> and then detroit to orlando? and you're not worried about the detroit flight? because that's kind of midwest. >> i know, i don't know, i'm not going to worry yet. >> whose babysitting? is it just you? >> just me. >> you have to watch all five? >> all five. >> that's a great thanksgiving gift. how did you plan this? >> i've always wanted to take my grandkids to disney. >> and so -- >> i'm off school. they're off school. so we just did it. >> all right, how excited are you going to disney for thanksgiving? >> i'm excited. >> are you? >> plus nice weather not this awful weather. >> i know, right in the. >> what are you looking forward to most in disney? >> see all of the characters. >> see the guy behind the camera, he just took his kids to disney couple of month ago. do you have any questions for him? >> no. >> no? who will be the most trouble here? little angry bird one? >> no. >> who will be the most trouble of all five grandkids? that guy over there. all right, i'll go grab him. why does everybody expect you to be the most trouble for your disney trip? >> i don't know. >> come here now, you know you are like a lucky kid going to disney world on thanksgiving, right. >> ya. >> how much do you owe your grandma for that? >> come on, man, you love her a lot. >> a lot. >> now, are you guys going to have turkey in disney or just drink orange juice? >> all of the places in orlando that has thanksgiving dinner, so we're good. or we can do wawa. there is a wawa in florida, right? >> they're now in florida turkey hoagies. >> that's what i told them. >> and turkey shorties for the kid who really doesn't want to show his love for you. >> he's so lovely. >> if they short you one ticket, you leave him at home. >> i'll leave him with you. >> up the greatest grandmom in philadelphia for sure. have a fun time. >> being that you. >> and a safe trip. how about that for thanksgiving, chris, kerry, grandmom takes you to disney world. >> a drink or six. >> move over, art link letter, you are great with the kids. good work, my man. >> all right, see you later. >> okay. >> come on, dude. >> all right, so, time now is 4:37. philadelphia mayor michael nutter, getting slammed by some over his comment about the decision in ferguson missouri, why he tells fox 29 he stands by what >> 4:40. philadelphia mayor michael nutter coming un fire by some what he said about the grand jury's decision in ferguson, miss your. >> i dave kinchen challenged the mayor on some of the comment many say went too far. >> the grand jury did i have all of the evidence, as the st. louis county prosecutor said, and you yourself say you didn't have all the evidence, then some say how do you come off that strongly when they say they did have all of the evidence. >> you tell me what the selfed that explains why the officer shot michael brown ten times. where is that evidence? where is that explanation? >> that's very powerful. >> the president of the philadelphia fraternal order of police ripped nutter's words. in a letter to membership posted on his facebook page, john mcnesby says, quote, it is very disappoint to go learn that michael nutter has chosen to publicly panned err to a lynch mob mentality, instead of displaying the courage and integrity required by a public official. he also said, quote, nutter has a choice to make. can he join the lynch mob, or he can be the mayor. can he not do both. >> 44:00; brave little girl takes her first step toward living a more normal life. what's next in her very scary journey ahead. >> why did the turkey cross the road. >> to get to the other side? >> well, that, but more ac ridly, i guess i should say, why did a man dressed as a turkey cross the road? >> to get to the other side. >> it's trap. it's a trap. it is a rhetorical question. you don't answer it right now, chris. >> oh, hey, bob, can you answer it? >> what did he do wrong that had to put that outfit on and walk across the street in crazy. 4:42, we'll go for a fly. i-95, as you begin from the south, and come north, roads are wet already. we will check in with the rest of the majors, mass transit and sue with that turkey travel day 4:44, my impression was, that's actually the housing, in center city live for you there. this is the 30th street station, yes. >> that's right. now we're at the airport. because, for this picture, we've got our little turkeys, packed with the suitcases and ready to go. they might be joining grandma at disney world, i'm not sure, but there we go. just wanted to let you know we got them, we'll use them. plus the places you may be traveling, atlanta, they'll have some rain, 52 degrees, very coal, dry in chicago, 32, 65 degrees in dallas, boston, that's where you might have some travel trouble, if you are driving or flying, north to new england, they're specking lot of snow there, some places, in new england, especially vermont, new hampshire, maybe getting around a foot of snow. we have not seen the change-over here. still too warm for that to happen. so, it is just rain, lots of it, and this all we were ever going to get, that would be a travel mess. but once we get that change-over and the colder air moves in, watch out. so, we do have just light rain around at the moment. and north and west of the city, we really, most of that, isn't making it to the grounds. down
