>> it smelled like, oh my god, have you ever smelled chicken that has been in the trashcan for too long? bad. >> according to the marine mammal center, the whale was two or three years old and had been dead for about two weeks when it washed up on shore. the team assess the whale was belly up. it had been tangled inside a fishing line and after that it had probably been struck by a boat but they don't know which of the two cause the death because the whale had been dead for too long. >> the cause of death was inconclusive. >> yes it was inconclusive. >> it happens every year but maybe just not as publicly. they don't advertise it i guess if it's not in a public area. >> bob confirmed that whales get beached all the time but the summer is when you most likely see this happen because whales come to our area to give birth. >> this is the main question, we've got a huge whale in the middle of the beach, what do you do with it?
